Motorola Droid :: Bootup Sound - How To Get It To Say?
Jan 13, 2010Does your Droid say "Droid" when it boots up?
Mine has never done this.
If so how do you get it to say Droid when you boot up the phone?

I know others have certainly tried this already but I haven't seen it mentioned yet so I thought I'd throw it out there for any interested parties.
Many of us have previously created an app.disabled folder to store unwanted files that could be retrieved if we ever want them back. I've never tried to disable a sound (mp3) before but I was tired of hearing the Drrooooooid every time I boot up the phone so I ditched it using ADB. Animation still works the same, just no volume.
mv /system/customize/resource/VZW_Droid.mp3 /system/app.disabled
(Note the spaces after "mv" and "mp3"). Much more enjoybable now.
I tried to cut/paste it elsewhere with Linda File Manager but was denied access due to read only status. Not sure if Root Explorer would bypass that or not and I don't have it to verify.
Here is a video of what is happening: YouTube - Broken Droid X Bootup?

View 1 Replies View RelatedRan across this on YouTube. Rooted Droid running AdamZ's smoked ROM vs. rooted N1 running the latest cyanogenmod 5.0.
Looks like the N1 gets to the unlock screen first, but the Droid is done loading all the widgets and ready to use faster.
This should quell all our N1 envy for a while. We don't even know if the Droid is OC'd and it beat out the fastest N1 ROM out there.

I noticed something that makes my sound better coming out of my earbuds. While using the stock music player. Go to menu>audio effects>wired stereo devices>enable audio effects. Then u can pick from effects like 3D stereo or even a custom equalizer.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI don't know how many of you have actually tested the limits of the background cancelling mics on the DX, but I have. I was prompted to test it while speaking to a client while walking my dog the other day.. as a lawn worker passed me with a leaf blower, I apologized to my client for the noise. "His response, with leaf blower right next to me, was, "Noise? You aren't sitting at your desk? I don't hear anything but your voice."
So ok... wow. Now my working from home butt is unleashed from the desk which is ... AWESOME!
So I decided to test the limits... I called my voicemail while standing in a packed bar a couple nights ago. Thumping music, people all around laughing and shouting, crazy scene. The result? At the beginning, before I spoke, you can faintly hear the music... then... nothing but my voice. It's the most amazing thing I've ever heard (or, I guess, not heard).
Anyhow.. I think Motorola should be advertising this! I can see the commercial now... business dude on a golf course while boss calls and doesn't know... man in a bar and wife can't tell (remember the old Capitan Morgan ad?)
Alright so i got my droid yesterday, everything was fine. It was loud and everything. Last night i was looking up a youtube video, could barely hear it even when the volume was up on high. Now even my notification "droid" voice is so low, even my music is.

View 11 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I lost the "Droid" sound when I boot. On any rom, stock, Liquid, some other Rom, custom ani's and everything. I think I even lost it when I upgraded to 2.2 non-root. Is there a quick fix for this (don't think I'm confident enought to start mod'ing bootanimation.zip files yet)? Or someone have an ani that I can push that has a confirmed sound with it to just see if I did something wrong earlier?

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow I love my Droid so much more now that I am using Froyo and Flash. I tried Froyo a few times in the past but always went back to 2.1 due to the fact I am addicted to World War. Now that the 2.2 OTA came out and went ahead and installed a Rooted 2.2 ROM and then installed Flash. Now I am able to stream video from mega video with almost no problems. They only problem I have is that the sound is just a little off. It's not to bad though. Anyhow back to watching The Big Bang Theory.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question about the noise cancellation on different ROMS - basically, I tested it after I rooted and went to Rubix focused (the latest one) and the feature is gone. I have looked and looked and really don't see anything about it. The test: I used my television volume numbers, watching the same section of the same movie sitting in the same spot talking into my work voicemail reading the same script while calling out the TV volume numbers.
Before root, I could go up to 20 before hearing muffled background noise (20 on my TV is unbearably loud, I usually watch TV around 13 or 14). After the root and RubiX Focused, I can clearly understand what is being said on the movie with the volume level at 12. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm wondering if the blur dialer app is what runs the mics and whatever that RubiX dialer is doesn't know to run them.. dunno. But it is very clearly not working now. Have you seen anything anywhere? Has anyone else tested before and after root? This is the key feature to the phone for me since I am constantly on the phone with clients.
I have not been getting my audible email notifications and the green light that is normally flashing is not flashing. I can get my emails if I go to the email icon.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with my droid x. Whenever I make a call or receive a call I can't here anything but the person on the other end can here me just fine. My external speaker works fine with pandora and things. The phone worked fine for the first day and just started this yesterday. I have done multiple resets including a battery pull and even a factory reset with no luck. Any suggestions would be appreciated but looks like I'm going to have to take it back.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have some strange problem when using pandora connected to my car stereo via aux in. If I start it up, it plays perfectly. If a call comes in, it pauses and takes the call. then resumes just fine after the call. but if I manually pause the music and switch to another app. when I return to pandora and un-pause the music, it plays but sounds "garbled" like it is under water! I have to reboot the droid at this point to get it back to normal.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI actually dont have the echo problem everyone seems to have. Call quality is really good on my end, but everyone I speak too says that I sound way too low even after they blast the volume on their phone. I have to angle the phone towards my mouth in order for them to hear me at a decent speaking level. Is there a way to increase the microphone sensitivity? I have voice privacy off and EVRC-B on.
