Motorola Droid X :: Sound Cancellation After Rooting

Nov 23, 2010

I have a question about the noise cancellation on different ROMS - basically, I tested it after I rooted and went to Rubix focused (the latest one) and the feature is gone. I have looked and looked and really don't see anything about it. The test: I used my television volume numbers, watching the same section of the same movie sitting in the same spot talking into my work voicemail reading the same script while calling out the TV volume numbers.

Before root, I could go up to 20 before hearing muffled background noise (20 on my TV is unbearably loud, I usually watch TV around 13 or 14). After the root and RubiX Focused, I can clearly understand what is being said on the movie with the volume level at 12. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm wondering if the blur dialer app is what runs the mics and whatever that RubiX dialer is doesn't know to run them.. dunno. But it is very clearly not working now. Have you seen anything anywhere? Has anyone else tested before and after root? This is the key feature to the phone for me since I am constantly on the phone with clients.

Motorola Droid :: Noise Cancellation Setting?

Feb 21, 2010

I could swear I had de-selected a "noise cancellation" option in a menue somewhere in an effort to get my Droid to sound better during calls, but i can't for my life find it. (-Was I tripping?) Since then, I've removed my cheap-ass made-by-not-Motorola case after realizing (via this forum) that it was covering up the exterior microphone. Calls still sound like crap to me, but at least people can hear me better, I think. Anyway, if there's the noise cancellation opt and I wasn't dreaming or severely confused, can someone point me in the direction of that?

Samsung Fascinate :: SF Does Have Noise Cancellation?

Nov 6, 2010

Was reading a review at AnandTech and it says: On the left are the volume rocker button and a port for the secondary microphone for noise cancellation. You can follow that port inside to a small chamber where the microphone is. There aren't any markers on the volume rocker - then again up and down are pretty obvious. The volume rocker is also a multipurpose zoom control in the browser and camera application, which is probably part of why it's left unmarked. Here is the link if you wanna check it out. Nexus :: Dual Mic Noise Cancellation

I've seen positive reviews on the dual mic noise cancellation of the nexus one. However, what I haven't seen addressed is whether than noise cancellation is bypassed when using a bluetooth headset? It would be cool if the nexus one provided the same noise cancellation when using a bluetooth headset, but I kinda doubt it. Anyone know for sure?

Motorola Droid :: Rooting 2.1 OTA - Still Need To Go SPR

Ive been rooted for a while. I am going to root my friends phone. Its been a while since I first rooted and was wondering if there was a new way to get ROM Manager on 2.1 OTA. IS there an easier way to get ROM Manager on the phone besides flashing the SBF file which gives you SPR recovery , then flashing a rooted ROM, then installing ROM Magager, then finally installing the ROM that you really wanted in the first place?

Motorola Droid :: Could Rooting Fix This

Apr 14, 2010

I bought (and rec'd on Monday) the Seidio super-honking-big extended battery. All day yesterday and today (until I could get home and swap it out), I was getting false indications of low battery that would get "fixed" upon reboot, yet 2-3 hours later it would again indicate that it's low. Here's a thread on it in the regular Droid forum:

Battery meter won't accurately read the long-life Seidio battery.I'm holding out very faint hope that a ROM junkie might now of a work around. I'm currently intending on putting a rooted 2.1 on my phone, but I'll gladly deviate to something else if it'll fix this problem.

Motorola Droid :: Need Help Rooting 2.1

Jun 2, 2010

I did a search but did not find anything directly applicable to my situation. My apologies if I missed it.My Droid is currently running Android 2.1 update 1.I had previously rooted under Android 2.0.1, but I inadvertently installed the Verizon automatic system update, which took away root privileges. (Incidentally, is there a way to disable automatic updates? Before my slip-up, I had been canceling the dialog box for over a week.)I tried the method described in this post and it seemed to work, but I can't execute "su" from the terminal emulator console. I have the superuser permissions ninja under apps, but I also had it after the forced Verizon update. I suspect this is a vestige of the previous rooting.
I would be immensely grateful if someone could direct me to instructions on how to EITHER: A) download everything necessary to revert to 2.0.1, use the root exploit, and then upgrade to a rooted version of 2.1, OR B) root my current installation of 2.1.Also, if you could recommend a good ROM with wireless tethering, that's be icing on the cake.

Android :: Uploaded Widget Application / Order Cancellation Reason

A couple of weeks ago I uploaded one of App which happens to be a widget. But from the time I uploaded it I have seen lots of cancellation. The only reason google gives me is this: You canceled this order. Reason: Other (describe below) Message sent to customer: Cancellation requested from phone.

I cant get heads or tail of it. What should I understand from this? There are no feedback, neither any ratings. Who is "YOU" here? I suppose this is not a programming question but this has raised after a lot of programming. Did anyone else also get something like this from Google and know what it exactly means?

Motorola Droid :: Rooting 2.1 ROMS

Feb 18, 2010

I'm rooted, and swap roms, backup everything pretty confidently (thanks again to Joe for helping me get in the pool).

But there are some things I don't understand. I really want to go to a 2.1 ROM. I've tried a few with verying degrees of happyness, and some of the later ones I've tried just send me through enless reboot cycles. I've tried Pete's new one (figuring if anybody put out something dependable it would be him) and though it boots up FAST and runs great, after playing around for a while it sends me through reboot cycles and freezes up.

I always follow all instructions to the "T", so it makes no sense that others are having success when I am not. Is there some other process that I have to go through that are just unspoken "common sense" steps among the more advanced users that aren't outlined in install instructions? Or am I just supposed to let the phone do it's thing for a while after installing? It just makes me nervouse when it is looping through 3-5 reboots in a row.

Motorola Droid :: Rooting From A Linux Box

May 7, 2010

Wahoo first post! I've had an account for a while but have been lurking and soaking up information. I'm going to root my phone (hopefully today) but I am running Linux on all my PCs, and do not actually have a windows install. I wanted to ask if anyone knew if the ADB commands can just be run straight from a terminal window from my Linux box, since it seems ADB is just a terminal emulator on windows to be able to talk to the phone. It seems like I'm missing something though, I would think ADB would do more than that but let me know if I'm in the wrong. I'd like to root my phone from my Linux box but if i need to find a windows machine I could probably do it from work. I was trying to find some sort of tutorial for ADB on Linux but could not find anything, even installed the SDK for Linux and have access to ADB but am not sure how to get ADB to see my phone after going through the tutorials. I would not be surprised if I missed something as I can be a little dense at times.

Motorola Droid :: Rooting And 2.1 Update?

Mar 6, 2010

I'm new to the phone and not particularly computer savvy. I've been doing my homework and research about rooting and I was wondering... a friend mentioned that when Verizon releases an upgrade to Android OS 2.1 (Flan), Android will likely remove the exploit that allows for rooting. If that is the case, you will not be able to root in the future. But if I rooted now I would always be able to. He also mentioned if I rooted I would lose the ability to upgrade to 2.1 over the air and would have to download the upgrade via a computer and USB. Is this true?

Motorola Droid :: Steps Of Rooting Followed

Jun 10, 2010

I rooted my phone with the help from this forum. All went well. My phone started off a stock unmolested 2.1 version with update 1 and ESE81 and in about an hour, I was wirelessly tethered to my laptop and on the internet. A lot of this was copied and pasted from Fabolous' threads, so props to him. Before you do anything, make sure to copy your contacts to your SD card and anything else you are afraid to loose. The first section won't erase anything, but second section will. Some of these steps may not be needed, but these are just the steps I took, and it worked.
These are the steps:
1.) Download SPRecovery_ESE81.sbf to your C: root directory (C:)
2.) Download md5sum
3.) Place md5sum in c:windowssystem32.....
