Got a quick question, does anyone know what there built in internal storage capacity was before downloading any apps or when the phone was bone stock. Just got mine and is only say 6.30 gb free and I know it is supposed to be 8 gb. I know actual storage formatted is less Just wondering if yours is the same.

I know that our android phone has a specified amount of internal storage.part of it is for storing apk, datas etc.another part is for rom image and all all those stuff.what i want to know is when i am installing a new rom,is it actually overwriting the existing rom.or is it installed alongside it.cause my phone is getting slower each time i install a new custom rom in my htc hero.it has 600 mhz processor.but even angry birds lag in my phone but it works smooth on my nokia 5233 xpress music touch phone.both these games are are of similar size and have same graphics quality.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't find a way to access the internal 8GB storage from the phone to put files there, or to open/use files there, for that matter.I can see it from the PC if I mount the Droid, but can't from the phone itself.please point out the obvious thing that I'm missing. I've tried Astro, Root Explorer, and the Files program that came w/the D2, none of them appear to allow me to access the 8gb storage.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've bought this chinese clone of the SIII, it's a MT6575. It's great except for the internal storage, which supposedly is 500MB but there seems to be an invisible SD storage which is 2GB. It's really confusing... When I go to Settings -> Storage there are 3 memories: "Internal Storage" (claims to be 4GB but it's fake, it's actually 500MB), "Phone Storage" (claims to be 16.5GB but it's probably 2GB), and finally my SD, "SD Card" (32GB).
The thing is, I'm having problems downloading big apps because apps go to "Internal Storage" which is 500MB only, and which files are stored in the "Phone Storage" (maybe internal & phone are actually the same?). However when I go to Settings -> Apps, on the "Downloaded" tab, the apps are in "Internal Storage" (500MB), and on the "On SD Card" tab, it shows that apps are in "Phone Storage" (the ones I moved to SD). This means my 32GB SD isn't being used by the system when I send apps to SD probably.
Also, my 32GB SD card is found in /mnt/sdcard2, and the /mnt/sdcard... I don't know which storage is that.
So basically all this is happening because I tried to Link2SD with my 32GB SD doing all the 2 partitions stuff and so, but Link2SD never detects the "secondary SD" which is the 32GB SD, as this fake SD card, "Phone Storage", is probably what the programs thinks to be the SD card.
For some reason my Incredible won't mount both the internal phone storage and the SD card storage at the same time. What I mean is...when I plug my phone into my PC I only get a single popup asking to mount the phone's SD card storage, but not the internal phone storage.If I remove the SD card (or unmount the SD card using menus on the phone) and then toggle the connection type from Disk Drive, to Charge only, and then back to Disk Drive (to burp the connection), the internal phone storage will mount, but the SD card won't mount because it has been removed.When I connect my wife's incredible, my computer sees both the SD card storage and the internal storage (as expected) and gives me prompts for both. I took the SD card from the problematic phone and put it in the "good" phone and there are no issues at all (IE.. both the internal storage and SD storage mount). This of course means there is no issue with the SD card.

im shocked with how the manufacturer of my device(cherry mobile) designated their storage. the phone storage is 2gb and internal is 500 mb.
it is not a problem if i could write apps on phone storage by default but even though the 'write to phone storage' is checked, when i downloaded an app, the internal storage still losses free space.
so is it possible to extend internal storage?
I used this to check the amount of space on my A2SD partition of my SD Card. However I've noticed that as well as INTERNAL storage, there's something called SYSTEM storage. I believe that has to do mainly with how many apps you have installed, although sometimes (since updating the other day) the number seems to change when I don't delete or download a new app. Maybe I'm going crazy. The "free space" number that is in ABout Phone, or in many many system tools type apps is misleading, because that is a combination of the app space and the working memory space. Since Linux loads that up to be more efficient, it will almost always show some relatively low number (30-40MB in my case) as long as the phone has been turned on for some time. In reality, I only have 35MB of apps installed on my phone, so I have plenty of room, it is just hard to tell. So far, the only place I can find that info is on the web-based side of appbrain. Is there any on-phone location where I would be able to get that info? (Short of actually adding up all my apps' sizes by hand?)

I looked at the system setting and her internal storage is completely maxed out, but the SD card is 90% available. I've mounted her phone to my laptop and tried moving files around, but nothing is moving. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find information on how to programmatically access the HTC Droid Incredible's supposed 8GB of internal storage.To determine the external storage (SD Card) location, In examining HTC/Google Nexus One, Motorola Droid, and HTC Dream/G1 phones, there (as would be expected) does not appear to be any mount point for such arbitrary internal storage. On these phones the internal storage is divided amongst /data, /system, and /cache partitions. The Incredible's internal storage is certainly not going to be located in /system. /cache is also unlikely given that it is globally non-readable/non-executable. I'd read in reviews that the phone will still be limited to 512MB or so for apps, suggesting that it is not simply a subdirectory of /data.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I loaded the new release of froyo petes v.04 and earlier when trying to use the built in wired tether option it defaults to a web-page about upgrading to a tethering plan. It says that they are offering it for $5 off until july 15th. Wireless tether still works fine but just wanted to know if anybody else got this message when using the built in program on the new froyo release. I was able to use this option in the earlier versions of froyo without the message. Update, so I completely missed this already reported on phandroid so I guess I was just getting the message others have already reported.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought one of the new high capacity Droid 2 batteries. I took it off of the charger shortly after 6 am yesterday. It reached 20% capacity around noon today. While not heavily utilized, it was on for the entire time and active most of the day yesterday for texting and internet browsing as well as some light gaming. I'd say that battery was $ very well spent.

This has been happening since I got the phone on launch day. This is my first Android phone so maybe this is supposed to happen. But when I reboot the phone, internal memory disappears.
As a test I didn't install or uninstall any apps, didn't get any updates, nothing. After two days I reset the phone and was at 327 megs of storage. After the reboot I had 320. This has been happening every few days.
I thought it was from installing an app. In one example I had 360 megs, installed an app that brought me to 357, did a reboot after a few mins, and had 354 at startup.
I've tried this on another phone (my girlfriend has one) and she gets the same thing. I've tried wiping my phone just to be sure and same thing.
Most apps cannot see this, and I doubt they ever will unless this becomes more commonplace. What do you do with your internal storage? I have my camera set to store there, but I have a slideshow app i use when charging and it only reads the SD card so I move the "keepers" to SD. My mp3's and divx movies are also on SD. So out of 6.6gb internal storage I usually have about 6.5gb free. How do you use yours? And do you feel app developers will ever write apps to access the internal storage?

I'm just wondering if this is normal. I don't have any music or videos stored internally, only about 30 or so wallpapers. Is the space all from apps? How do I see exactly what is in the internal storage? When I connect to my computer there's nothing in any of the folders except the wallpapers I added.
I went into the SD/Phone storage in Settings and I know the Evo comes with 1gb of internal storage, but mine is showing I only have 332mb left. I only downloaded 3-5 apps.On another note: Is there anyway to access the SD card from the phone? Can I save pictures from the web onto it, instead of onto the phone?

However, I need to get it working on devices with internal storage and I don't have such a device to test on. How can I set up the emulator to reproduce such a device? I did a search on the forums and found info on increasing the size of the internal storage but I'm not sure how the file system should be set up. Is this even possible?
