Aug 18, 2010I just got a replacement DX due to random reboots.I read around on the forums that a factory reset would remove any custom themes as well as remove any signs of root.I was unable to achieve either with a factory reset and had to manually install the stock theme files, unroot, and then factory reset. Is this normal? Or was my factory reset not working properly?Is there a way to get back to "out of the box" without having to manually reinstall a stock theme and unroot?

Jan 3, 2010I will acknowledge that this is very insignificant, but for some reason it is driving me crazy. When I first got this phoe, I deleted the original espn, cnn and facebook shortcuts that came preloaded on the right screen. I have since come to realize that I check espn A LOT and I wanted the shortcut back there. So I added a bookmark, but the original icon that came preloaded just looked a lot better, does anyone know if there is a way to get the original icon back without doing a factory reset?

May 23, 2012When I do factory reset (which means the same as 'wipe', right?) it does resetting current installed ROM to its original state, right?
So, let's say I am doing factory reset the first time (so currently my phone has store ROM installed) so factory reset will revert all the changes in the installed ROM (such as settings, installed apps, all the data) to its original state - which the phone had since it got ROM installed.
But If I got root (which means I replaced secured kernel with unsecured one) and I installed another customized ROM and for some reason I want to do factory reset again - what's gonna happen?
Will factory reset revert original store ROM back or it will revert manually installed ROM (customized ROM) to its after installation?
And as far as I understood factory reset does nothing with kernel? It only affects ROM? So in the second case , when I use non-store ROM and I am doing factory reset - nothing will happen with my unsecured kernel?

Jun 6, 2010Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.

AMAZING CHOICE this phone is amazing but i see people with there linpack and quadrant scores and thats alot better then mine i have mine Over Clocked and Rooted is there any way to speed it up? Also i did install froyo leak but it didnt let me use my camera and the market not working right. I just went back to my original 2.1 with the sbf Sadly the market still isent working right.

But the original has a noticeable lag when taking one pic to the next making quick shots and successive shots not very practicable. Specially since it makes moving subjects blurry. Oct 6, 2010I have a bit of a dilliema when it comes to texting on this phone. I am coming from a BB curve. I run a small business and I schedule my employees through text message. I do so 10+ employees at a time. The problem I have found with Handcent and Chomp, is that if I message 10 people "Work Thursday at 315" when they reply to confirm, it doesnt show my original message, so I have no idea what they are confirming because Im often sending out many different times to many different people. Now, the stock messaging app DOES show my original message when they reply, but the sort order is all screwed up.
