My wife's phone keeps beeping when she talks to people. It sounds like she is just mashing keys the whole time she is talking but the phone is against her face. I told her to make sure it is resting against her cheek so that her cheek isn't randomly hitting buttons on the dial pad but that still doesn't help.

I'm a newish Droid user, came from Eris. While I love the power of the phone and the capabilities, the actual phone is not exciting at all and I miss the Eris if only for the actual phone. I am constantly told I am hard to hear; usually they say I am grainy, muffled, or tinny sounding. Are there any apps I can use to help make call quality better? I have purchased a very expensive blue tooth, call quality is still bad. Now, with a particular friend, they hear a very annoying beeping sound when talking to me. And only me. I don't hear it but the only time they hear this sound is when talking to me and it's been since I got the Droid (about 2 weeks ago). Any ideas of what this is and how to fix it?

I myself have been waffling: at first I thought "Oh, way too big". Then this picture made me think its not the much larger than similar phones and I was getting it for sure! I'm having trouble with almost all my outgoing calls. It's taken me up to 4 calls to one person just to finish a short conversation. It usually starts with the person not being able to hear me and then there's a beep and the call is gone. I talked with a Verizon tech last night and she said my longest call (to her) lasted 53 seconds before she couldn't hear me anymore.
This morning I called my mom to test the hair theory (can't have hair between the phone and your face). We were able to talk for 3 mins and 17 secs before I lost the call. The only things different were the beep sounded and we were still able to talk, so evidently the beeping doesn't signal that I'm about to lose the call (I think we talked for a minute more before losing the call) and I don't think there was ever a point where she couldn't hear me -- the call just dropped.
Some of the past posting I've read have indicated that people have gone through multiple Droids (I think one person posted he was on his 4th) and was still having problems.
Verizon is sending me another Droid, but I'm not holding out a lot of hope because of all the postings I've read about this problem. I'm looking for some positive remarks about phone calls -- anyone have some and care to share?
Oh and Verizon rep also said the new Droid they are sending me is the final one. If I have problems with it I either have to put up with it or pay full price for a different phone -- does that sound right?
Can you tell me how to dial a phone extension? After the phone connects, I need to dial a 4 digit number to connect directly to the person I am calling. On my blackberry a second screen came up. Is there a way for this to work on the motorola droid?

Most if not all the Motorola Phones I've had over the years have this capability, and given the Droidx is seen by my Linux laptop as both a USB storage device and Network device is there any way to set it up as a USB modem that could accept AT commands from a terminal program and dial out to a remote modem?

this only started happening after the 2.1 update. the beep sounds like i am getting another call. also phone calls seem to be draining battery rather fast lately, a three minute phone call will drop my battery from half to yellow.

View 18 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to activate my phone, it wouldn't work. So I called Verizon from my landline and I told them and they had me activate it manually. They had me type in some random string of numbers to the phone dial pad and it took me to a screen where I set my phone's ID and other stuff manually (that the activation call would do automatically). I'm just curious as to what's in here. Does anyone remember the number? I can't remember it for the love of me and it's not in my call log.

About 2-3 times a week, while on the phone, ill hear the start up sound of my eris, still talking to people on the phone, look and the eris has restarted, but im still on the phone. eventually it will cut off the call and finish starting up....has anyone had this problem. I thought it might be a problem with one of the apps, so i reformated back to like new, and ran it for 2 days before it did it again. Thanks

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried 4-5 differant phone numbers and the new 2.1 update on my Telus Milestone on the Bell network will not dial 1-888 numbers, it has a buzz and hangs up pretty quick, won't work from a contact wont work manually entered! No problem with 1-800 and I am not trying any 1-900 we will leave those alone. Wifes work uses a 1-888 for out of area toll free and I have to use on landline, but with cell the regular number is not long distance, so I can still get her through cell. Did a google search can not find any mention perhaps someone else can try a 1-888 number just google for a number lots of weather related ones.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a stock 2.1 Eris. As a phone, it is a flaming turd. Phone-dial lag can be so bad the phone can be making a call minutes after I've hit the button to call. Once a week it is so screwed up that the phone thinks it is in a conference call with the same number at the same time. Because after a minute or two of no call being initiated, silly me, I dial again. Eventually both calls take place. I wind up talking to my wife while I'm also leaving some bogus voice mail at her same number. As it stands, this phone is literally an embarrassment. All of these problems started immediately after the 2.1 OTA update. Yes, I've done a factory reset. I've cleared my call log. Blah blah blah. I just want a phone that can dial without getting all "Special Olympics" on me. Simple question: Will rooting fix this kind of problem?

But allowing you to turn off all vibration would be just too uncool. So HTC invented yet another !@#$ vibration when the phone connects after you press dial.

I found a way to get a Direct Dial shortcut using the free app Folder Organizer Lite. Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Call, choose from your contact list. View 34 Replies View RelatedI look forward to my Droid from Verizon.. unfortunately the Voice Dial appears disfunctional.If i go "Call Joe Blow".I get "Calll Joe Blow at home' Call Joe Blow on mobile choices on the screen. ok I could live with that as my Razr sometimes had difficulty, but I MUST PHYSICALLY SELECT THE CORRECT CHOICE.. so much for hands free.what is even worse is that if I say Dial 800-555-1212 it also prompts me for phsyical confirmation.For a phone in a hands free state this is worthless.Is this something that software will correct in the future???
