View 37 RepliesHow do you add a icon to a home screen for one touch direct dial to a contact? Used to be easy to do with the original droid. I can't find anything on the X. (running launcher pro).

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else find the Voice Dialing feature completely useless and frustrating? For myself: In a car with hundreds of contacts to sort through, it's a must have. This thing isn't even close. It just sprays random contacts out. Another "wait for Froyo 2.2" coming soon feature? Is there an alternative app I can download?

I downloaded superdial, which has this capability, but it is running a bit slow.
Does anyone else have some comments on other dialers that can do this.
By this I mean that if I want to call DAD, I type in 323 and it brings up DAD in the address book. I have 700 contacts, and cant try scrolling to find names!
Is it possible to use a DroidX as a dial-up modem? I'm not talking about a cable modem or some way to get on the Internet, but rather dialing into a remote server via an analog phone connection. Examples being old-school BBSes or RAS/DUN servers.
Most if not all the Motorola Phones I've had over the years have this capability, and given the Droidx is seen by my Linux laptop as both a USB storage device and Network device is there any way to set it up as a USB modem that could accept AT commands from a terminal program and dial out to a remote modem?
I found a way to get a Direct Dial shortcut using the free app Folder Organizer Lite. Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Call, choose from your contact list. For the Direct Text using Folder Organizer Lite again. Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Text, choose from your contact list.
View 34 Replies View RelatedI look forward to my Droid from Verizon.. unfortunately the Voice Dial appears disfunctional. If i go "Call Joe Blow".I get "Calll Joe Blow at home' Call Joe Blow on mobile choices on the screen. ok I could live with that as my Razr sometimes had difficulty, but I MUST PHYSICALLY SELECT THE CORRECT CHOICE.. so much for hands free.what is even worse is that if I say Dial 800-555-1212 it also prompts me for phsyical confirmation. For a phone in a hands free state this is worthless. Is this something that software will correct in the future??? I am trying to decide whether to send this sucker back in my 3 day window
View 26 Replies View RelatedI barely ever get it to work accurately. It's easier just to jump to the contact list. I would like to use it in the car, and this is through the handset not bluetooth. Otherwise it's AWESOME. I am humbled so far, especially at the app selection.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use to be able to hold down the magnifying glass on the Droid and say "Call John Doe mobile" to call someone. Now for some reason when I do it it only gives me a google search option although I can still say "Navigate to 123 Whatever RD" and it will open up the navigator but why is my voice dial not working anymore.
View 15 Replies View RelatedMy wife's phone keeps beeping when she talks to people. It sounds like she is just mashing keys the whole time she is talking but the phone is against her face. I told her to make sure it is resting against her cheek so that her cheek isn't randomly hitting buttons on the dial pad but that still doesn't help.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting, app, etc. that will make the "dial pad" show by default when I make a phone call?
Basically, there are few numbers I dial that use an automated system and I'm required to press certain numbers to continue and I grow tired of selecting the number pad myself.
It's not as important on incoming calls, but would be nice there as well I guess.
Can you make speed dials on this phone?
View 42 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of an app to improve contact searching in the Phone app? I would love a BlackBerry-like interface where the phone opens and you can just start typing a contact name (on dialpad) (or any contact data to select and narrow a contact search? Instead you have to perform an actual search or scroll - what a pain! If nothing exists - who's willing to build it?

Phone's in holster, screen's timed out, press & hold bluetooth headset, get double tone indicating screen timed out. Must remove phone from holster, unlock, then manually press Voice Command shortcut to activate. A real PITA, especially when driving. Have car doc, Voice Command works from bluetooth, but need to activate when phone is in holster.
Motorolla Droid X on VZW
Android version 2.2
Couple of random annoyances since moving over from the BB Curve. I don't want to have to open the physical keyboard for any of these. Don't like the slide feel or the actual keyboard, just want to use the touch screen.
1) Is there a way to wake it up faster than having to (1) press the button on top then (2) swipe right to unlock?
2) How can I do 1-Touch speed dials on this thing? I need a fast way to unlock then speed dial someone. Right now it takes at least 6 commands to get the phone to unlock then go into the phone app, then contacts, then find the one you want then dial them. Waaaay too many key presses when I need to do this while diving.
3) How do I customize my Phone Favorites?
4) The tiny notifications are not enough for me, why don't the actual icons change? For example, when I get email, I want the actual icon to change and not just the tiny one to appear in the notification bar on top.
5) Is there a way to do custom notification schemes? For example, I want one regular that rings and beeps on everything, then I need a quite one that only vibrates on calls and texts while I am at work, no email notifications. Then I need a full vibrate one for quite on all notifications.
I like the phone, but I am having a hard time getting used to the amount of touches and clicks that you need to do to get things done. Everything seems to take too long with too many commands compared to the blackberry where everything was quick and easy.
Every time I a call is dialing or is hung up, random pictures of the android character pop up, like him playing baseball, eating a hot dog, sitting at a desk, playing guitar in the park... etc. Does anyone know what caused this to start? what program maybe? and a way to turn it off? I think it started right after I rooted my droid, it kind of acts like a screen saver type thing. I've waited a while to see if anything has popped up on the forums, and nothing has, it's annoying lol. oh and My phone will not dial *228, just goes back to home screen
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been trying out new ROM's and it's been fun. Here is my biggest headache with doing this. I have about 10 contacts that are Direct Dial (speed dial to the rest of the world). What I do is put them in a folder as a shortcut to prevent accidental dialing. But I have to constantly redo this set up. Is there a way to save a folder and it's contents, such as direct dial numbers, to my sd card and bring it back with each new ROM or launcher? Starred folder doesn't work for me as it's more clicking when I am driving. The app Direct Dial still takes several clicks.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I have GV enabled, I cannot manually dial a number and use it. It only works when clicking on a contact. Is there a way around this or am I missing something really simple.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to activate my phone, it wouldn't work. So I called Verizon from my landline and I told them and they had me activate it manually. They had me type in some random string of numbers to the phone dial pad and it took me to a screen where I set my phone's ID and other stuff manually (that the activation call would do automatically). I'm just curious as to what's in here. Does anyone remember the number? I can't remember it for the love of me and it's not in my call log.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried 4-5 differant phone numbers and the new 2.1 update on my Telus Milestone on the Bell network will not dial 1-888 numbers, it has a buzz and hangs up pretty quick, won't work from a contact wont work manually entered! No problem with 1-800 and I am not trying any 1-900 we will leave those alone. Wifes work uses a 1-888 for out of area toll free and I have to use on landline, but with cell the regular number is not long distance, so I can still get her through cell. Did a google search can not find any mention perhaps someone else can try a 1-888 number just google for a number lots of weather related ones.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI tried searching but I couldn't find anything. For some reason I can't dial ##778. I'd like to do the trick to make the phone ring quicker but I can't access the settings for some reason. When I dial ##778 or ##program nothing happens.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI assume that this has been asked and answered many times before, but the market keeps changing and new tools come and go. To put it plainly, the existing voice dialer in the ERIS stinks, and there doesn't seem to be any change with 2.1 over 1.5. Are there good dialers that can be purchased or freebees? I know about Vlink or something like that but the Beta is closed and the real version hasn't been released yet. What is everyone using?

There are many different changeable fields and I REALLY don't recommend changing any. I wish I could just to play around but I don't want to fight Verizon again for a new phone.
