Media :: How Can I Create Streaming Mp4 Videos?
Jul 21, 2010
I'm trying to create .mp4 video clips that when you click on the link in a browser (I have an Evo 4G) the clip will buffer and stream in the HTC Streaming Media Player. So far I only get this error message when the streaming media player launches: "Warning - Video is not for streaming play. Would you like to download the file." All my clips play great when downloaded to the SD card and they all stream flawlessly on the iPhone. Not sure if this problem is HTC specific or all Android phones. Has anyone created .mp4 clips that can be streamed from a website? What software and settings are you using? I'm using Handbrake which obviously isn't working.

I want to be able to use/view the video's I record with my phone on my computer. (open from an email or use in window's movie maker)I have a new computer with Windows seven at work and a Vista laptop at home. I can send the video to myself and try to open in from my email or tether to the computer and transfer the file manually. Either way I can't open with windows media player. Video's taken with default "Camcorder" app on a myTough 3G running Android 1.6.I know it has something to do with the codec's the phone uses but wonder why they wouldn't use codec's that are compatible with the most commonly used pc's?Is there any way around this? Some kind of converter for the computer or for the phone? Is there another camcorder app that can record video with a different codec or is it phone hardware specific? So far have been able to use these forum's to sort out most of my Android problems but I'm stumped on this one. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to do. Should be more user friendly.

I am using latest Android version android-sdk-windows-1.5_r2.zip and ADT-0.9.1 version. Can anyone guide me how to get live video to play on emulator? I have gone through many forums on this, however could not get any firm response on successful RTSP or HTTP streaming of live feed.

I am writing an application to play the you tube videos using streaming. First method: I am getting the RTSP URL to the video using GData APIs. Here is the code to play the RTSP url. VideoView mVideoView = new VideoView(this); setContentView(mVideoView); mVideoView.setVideoURI(Uri.parse("rtsp://rtsp2.youtube.com/CiILENy73wIaGQkDwpjrUxOWQBMYESARFEgGUgZ2aWRlb3MM/0/0/0/video.3gp")); mVideoView.start(); But it throws error on both G1 device and emulator (Emulator has some firewall problem as per mailing list) Here is the error message ERROR/PlayerDriver(35): Command PLAYER_INIT completed with an error or info PVMFFailure, Second method: A hack way to get the path of 3gp file from http://www.youtube.com/get_video?v=<VideoID>&t=<>&<>.. After getting the file path and I can call setVideoURI and it plays fine. But it is a hack way to achieve the requirement. I have checked the Youtube App also, it also does the hack way to play the you tube url.(Checked with logcat). I have tried changing from VideoView to Media Player but no change in the error. Is there a "Clean" way to do this?

.ram

The site that I'm finding all of these different formats is Orthodox Christian Network | The Premier Source for Orthodox Podcasts, Internet Radio, Video, Blogging, and News. Any help from the forum gods?

I switched to a Droid X yesterday (and am loving it) from the original Motorola Droid with QWERTY. My original Droid had the 2.2 Froyo update with the Flash 10.1 and I could watch all the movies on Iphonemovies.net on it. I got my Droid X and the Froyo update was available with the flash player which I installed but now when I go to Iphonemovies.net it is telling me "Sorry, this video is not valid for streaming to this device." Anyone else come across this? Is this a format thing that needs to be set/changed on the actual Droid X device or is it a problem on the website end where the Droid is so new it's not recognizing it. And yes, I have Flashplayer on it now.

I have observed that the Smartphones (particularly Android) do not perform as well as the computers when performance is compared on GPRS / EDGE.
I have tested streaming videos on while on GPRS / EDGE (not 3G or 4G) and observed that the smartphone gives up saying connection problem. When I stream the same videos with the same GPRS / EDGE connection through a USB Dongle on a computer(with same SIM Card inserted which was used for testing on Smartphone), the Computer performs better and is able to stream the Videos.
I request the experts to explain why this happens. The SIM and its location are the same and the speed received from it is also the same. Then why does the computer able to play it while the smartphone gives up saying connection problem.
I would like to clarify here that the GPRS / EDGE works alright on surfing websites etc. while the problem is only in streaming. I have tested this on various phones of Samsung / HTC / Motorola so the question of a particular phone having some problem does not arise.

I'm using Note 2 -android 4.1.2. I've come across an unusual problem today. I tried streaming videos and none of the videos are playing on both chrome and the defalt internet app. I always used the default browser video player.
When a video is clicked to play, the usual black screen appears but thereafter it just keeps loading with the circle going round in the middle (attached screen). But nothing happens. I have not installed any other apps since before nor any other mods.
What I have already tried. I have resetted app preference under app manager and stil the same issue
Tried installing MX player and tried to load the streaming video via mxplayer still same issue.

I am trying to figure out how to set the default player for streaming video on my EVO. I know there is a player on it from HTC called "Streaming Media Player" but it doesn't seem to be the default and I would like it to be. When I am using the Engadget app, and the article has a button to click for a video they have created, my phone seems to use the You Tube player and on occasion it just errors, but if I go to the actual article on the engadget web site and click the video, it opens in the HTC player and works fine. I don't get an option to choose which player I want to use when I click on videos, can I change any of this?

I have a rooted Nexus 7 on 4.2.1 and (I think it happened since the last update to 4.2.1) have a total impossibility of playing ANY media files over my local network... Whether it's a movie or even an MP3, every single one of my players tell me "sorry this video cannot be played". I can see the file on EF explorer (tried also with a bunch of other explorers, same problem), I can copy it onto my tablet over wifi, but impossible to play the damn file directly like I used to 2 or 3 weeks ago...
I bought a Kobo Arc for my girlfriend (on ICS) and it has no problem streaming anything instantly, even 720p 6gb movies... but when I get my Nexus 7 , nope can't do it anymore
I've tried tons of players (MX, BS, Dice, VLC...etc), tons of files explorers, looked through the file explorers settings...etc etc, but nothing that could get me my media streaming over wifi again...
It's not a huge issue or anything, but it's rather annoying to have to transfer every single media file on the tablet before actually being able to watch/listen to it..

I have been trying to find out all I can about streaming audio from my home to my Droid; i have around 100GB+ of mp3s I would like to be able to access. I am looking for feedback from anyone who has used these apps and services or suggestions for any that I have overlooked.
Orb
Subsonic
Mecanto
imeem
I have barely started playing with Mecanto. It's just hard for me to believe that they will allow you to upload any amount without any type of payment - unless they are planning to charge a considerable amount for the app later on. I do have Pandora installed, and I love it. But sometimes I just want to be able to queue up my own playlist of songs.

Recently I just create an app (that is using mediaplayer) to play the RTSP Streaming. At the beginning,I use the SIM card to connect to the internet. I try to let the app play for many times. But it was only success once. Many times the app could not play and the buffer always shows 0%. While I use the WiFi to connect the internet, the rtsp could be played but when I use the another WiFi to connect to the internet, to my surprise it failed. Both the SIM card and WiFi, it all could play the http Streaming. The RTSP Streaming is very strange, I can not understand. I guess there is maybe something wrong with Wireless.

I'm wondering what the current state of streaming online audio through bluetooth stereo is, post cupcake. I think the consensus is that it's not currently possible, but I feel like it should be. In fact, it does ALMOST work. Using StreamFurious or Dizzler, it will start to play and stutter a few seconds, then cut out totally. I can hear a song begin to play, but the audio is choppy and then goes out. So, bluetooth seems to be making, but not maintaining a connection to the audio stream. How to remedy this? I want my streaming SOMAFM.COM.

Can anyone explain how this works and how I can set this up? I'm hoping you guys have experience with DLNA. For some reason I thought DLNA was only available to Samsung TVs.

Ive done a lot of searching, and cant find exactly what Im looking for, so Ill turn to the forum. I have a vista machine that has about 400 gigs of music. we are a pc family so my media folders are shared via the wireless network. Is there an app/player that would allow me to browse my shared pc folders and playlist and allow me to stream this music and video? The closest I could find is an app called subsonic. Its not quite what im looking for. samsungs allshare is very basic. subsonic can be a bit complicated for folks that dont know how to set up port forwarding and static lan ip's and also, any apps that would let your phone control windows media player?

Within Windows Media Player 12 (Win 7 x64), I have checked "Stream > Automatically allow devices to play my media" Unfortunately, when I open up Media Share on the Droid X, and continue to the music folder, it doesn't show anything - instead it lists "no files found" Open Media Share -> Computer -> Play -> Next -> Next (DLNA) -> Next (allow remote playback stuff) -> Next (confirming we're connected to the same network) -> Then I go tot he All Music folder, and the Droid X says "No files to display"

Seeing as 2.1 doesn't play Flash what are some alternatives for free streaming movies? Ive tried Divx however 2.1 doesn't support that either. I use to use Stagevu, a similar website would be great!
I tried Veoh however finding a full length movie is more difficult than finding a hooker with a full set of teeth.

I'm using EStrong's File Manager and it has the ability to work over a network. I set up my Linux desktop to share my pictures and music folders. I can connect to the shares via Estrongs and view the pictures, as well as play music. However, so far I can only play 1 song at a time. Does anyone know of a music app that would allow me to create a playlist and stream it from my computer to my phone via wi-fi?

I've used DLNA to connect my phone with my PS3 but it does not see any of the pictures or video in my phones folders. I also tried connecting to my Windows 7 PC. As of right now, I have no idea how to view my phones files using DLNA? Do I need a program? When I select share media, it connects and then nothing happens.
