Samsung Captivate :: Skip Audiobooks In Media Player
Sep 2, 2010Does anyone know how to skip audiobook mp3 files in Media Player. It's especially troublesome when trying to listen to music on random. I guess I could make a playlist, but I have thousands of songs I'd have to add. What I would really like to do is just exclude the Audiobook folder from the Music Player all together.

Oct 19, 2012I have about 50 gigabytes worth of audio books I have purchased from iTunes over the years. I have read numerous things about people burning mp3 CD and re saving them this is completely impractical for this vast amount of data. It would take months. I have seen I can get a virtual CD drive and do it artificially. Is there a free one that works properly?
Also is there any plans for google play to allow larger file upload for audio book support? it took my cd converted books just fine.
and lastly, Is there perhaps a site I can upload the books to be hosted instead of converting them?

Jul 5, 2010I answer the phone and the audiobook or podcast keeps playing, so when my phone calls is over, I miss that audio. I wish it would auto pause the audiobook when the phone rings. Is there an app for that?

Apr 4, 2010I don't think i'm using the right search terms or else no one else cares about this and it's just me i use doggcatcher for my podcasts. when i want to listen to music, i use the music app. but i have play all random, it pulls from the entire SD card, not just the music folder where i have the music. basically, it's just annoying to have the random music playing and then all of sudden a chapter from an audio book or a podcast starts playing, esp when i'm driving. i don't like having to mess with it then. i have also used it to sync with mediamonkey, but if i have more than one playlist that syncs (i have "favorites" and "recently added"), then i can only pick one playlist at a time to listen to. i can't figure out a way to make a smart playlist or anything like that on the eris. i even downloaded that cube 3 or whatever that was on Lifehacker recently - but that doesn't have anything either.

I'd love to be able to ditch the ipod all together and listen to them on my Desire. Problem is that I they aren't supported atm.
Is there a program/app out there that will help?
I'd ideally like them to remain as m4b so that it will remember my positions and keep the chapter formatting etc (which is obviously all lost when converting to mp3)
Media :: Can't Play Mp4 Videos
May 19, 2010I've had my HTC Desire for a couple of months now and it's truly a great phone! Today my 32Gb micro SD card arrived for it and I set about moving my media onto it. I wanted to see if I could watch movies on my phone so I set about converting one from a full HD .mkv file to an .mp4 using handbrake. I read up on what the best parameters are and stuck to them religiously.I can play other videos on it no problem but when it comes to my own it just says that it can't play them, I've tried Meridian (which seems unstable as hell btw) but that doesn't help. My file is a couple of gigs in size when the encoding is done but I'm not short on space so that's not such an issue. I don't know why the phone is being so picky, can anyone please suggest what I might be doing wrong?

Nov 16, 2009i finally got doubleTwist to sync my music. Now it turns out in every audioplayer i have downloaded I have duplicates of every track (one for each time I synced) Also, the "official" audio player won't play ANY tracks at all. Nothing will play. Just keep getting the annoying message: "sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file."
Which is impossible, as I used doubleTwist to sync in the first place. And I thought that everything got converted so it would work. Now it seems everything - including what did work beforehand - won't work now. I'm really starting to dispair as i bought this thing to replace my ipod that got stolen a few weeks back and am now on contract and really don't want to be regretting it.

Before video's would stream over my connection, however 2.2 comes out and know I keep getting error's or programs just shut down. Adobe support stated that 'flash player for the operating system or browser' in not available as it only supports Google Nexus One.Its a 2 day old Desire so me thinks there may be a problem with the Desire or more likely i have been a bif and missed something.Apologies if this has been covered else where in the forums but the search didn't throw up anything useful and i was losing the will to live ploughing through page after page.

Aug 5, 2010First, I've just put Froyo on so I am up to date. I've also just installed a 32g card, formatted it on the phone (twice now) and used Windows explorer to copy mp3's of my CD's over from my laptop to the phone in to a folder called Music a couple of different times to rule out copy issues with the same results. FYI I normally carry/listen to my tunes on my Zune, and keep them associated with Zune.
My problem is that when I look at the phone's properties in Explorer, I see that I've used about 3.9g used, yet when I look at the individual CD folders I see nothing near that size. the Music folder on the phone shows 36 folders,108 files but a size of only 548m. No other phone folder shows any substantial usage. When I browse to the folders, a few of them have mp3's, but almost all show as empty, 0 files. I know I copied files, I watched it happen. When I launch the music app it doesn't see any of the folders with 0 files. Some of the folders that show mp3 files play but most don't. I get an "unable to play this type of audio file" message on the phone yet all of the files are the same. I should note that before I put the 32g card in, I did a trial copy of about 4 CD's with the 8g card in and they played fine. I didn't bother copying any more since I knew that I was getting the 32g card.
Any thoughts? Does the phone have a problem with a 32g card?

Sep 23, 2010I have an htc incredible and I'm wanting a way to play an mp3 track with just one touch... like starting an app. I don't need this for every song in my playlist, just a few select funny mp3's that we all need to whip out at any given time at the drop of a hat. Say... Chevy Chase's tirade in Christmas Vacation... or Hangover's "I'm a one man wolfpack." etc. I don't want to go through the hassle of opening my music app, searching for the specific track, then hitting play.
