I have an LG Ally, and downloaded Handcent SMS, which I love since I can customize my texting notification to longer vibrations. Now though I receive 2 notifications for each text.I can't figure out how to turn off the texting notification that comes with the phone.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI just got my LG Ally this past week, and I love it, but the thing is a power sucker. On my old phone (basic, no internet/data) I could go all week without charging it, this thing needs charging every other day! END RANT But that is aside the point. My problem is the phone won't stay turned off when I charge it. I plug it in, hold down the end call button, and shut it off. Then it turns right back on! Anyone know how to fix this?

You do this in Menu-Settings-Display- NO ANIMATIONS
Doing this makes opening and closing apps, flinging through screens and many other things much faster.
You'll loose the cool looking transition when coming in or out of an app. But this is well worth it, IMO.
It's all about performance
I have noticed that when I text *3282# to check my data useage, the notification ringer gets switched to low and I have to go in to settings to change it back. Anyone else have this same issue?

Everything works quite awesome, but I'm not getting my notification sound when I get a text message. I do get it for other notification events, and I've tried a couple different sounds just for good measure. Is this a ROM issue? An issue with my phone? Anyone else experiencing it? I use go sms and successfully turned off its popup notification.
I have notification unchecked in the native message app on my skyrocket galaxy II. I noticed it says "display message notifications in status bar" It say nothing about popups...but I have it off anyway.
I use the iphone notifications app (mimics iphone banners). It works fine but I also get the popup with the android man... and I can't shut it off.
If I go into go sms and check the suppress other notifications... it works... so there is a process out there to suppress......
