View 3 Replies View RelatedI am considering purchasing an unlocked galaxy S4 SGH-I337 (AT&T) and i have Digicel network because I live in Haiti. Can i udate the software once i put my Digicel sim card in this S4 because the phone came with 4.2 installed but i have read it is elligible for an update to 4.3. Since it is technically an at&t phone but unlocked. I dont know much about this kind of thing. I tried to do it via Kies and it says that I cant update this version using Kies. I never received any update whenever I check it only says update interrupted and no software available. While android 4.3 was out on at&t and it's been weeks. What should I do? My phone is not even rooted.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my galaxy s4 i337 and I heard about deleting bloatware so I was like, "hey that sounds cool!"
Sadly I did not realize the effects that deleting those files could cause to the device... I have factory reset my phone at least 5 times hopping that the deleted files would come back.... but they did not.
My problems are that whenever I pull up s-voice, I comes up with a message saying, "Unfortunately, S-voice has stopped working". I tried re-installing it with files I found from this site but then it started saying that I could not connect to the network so that was a dead end. I also have messages when I do various tasks says, "Unfortunately, Samsung text-to-voice engine has stopped."
I change my main language text to voice thing to google instead of samsung and that worked a little, but I still get the occasional message and s voice is completely broken. I saw that re installing chat on could work and i downloaded it because I think I may have deleted it, but it made absolutely 0 difference...
The procedure below is the same?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got Samsung S4 SSGH I337 bricked. I was on 4.2.2 until I was curious to get the 4.4 update. However, after reading on the forums it said you cannot upgrade to 4.4 directly (Except OTA which I never got). You first need to upgrade to 4.3 and then upgrade to 4.4 using the update patch. All went successfully until I though 4.4 seem no good to me as the root method was not available and I personally didn't find 4.4 to be much different than 4.2.2.
I tried to downgrade, without knowing a thing about Knox, by updating a ATT Stock Root MF3.zip update. It went through but with some errors, which I don't remember. I was still with the same 4.4 as the update was a waste.
I then tried to downgrade to 4.2.2 flashing the I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_I337UCUAMDL_HOME.tar with Odin. This never worked and I bricked my phone. The phone is not unable to boot and comes up with a screen - Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
Kies doesn't recognize the device. It just keep saying "Connecting". I later learnt that it's the Knox Bootloader that is not downgrade able. I tried flashing the leaked 4.4 firmware for SGH I337 to no luck.
I flashed 4.4 PA and lost root so I do not have access either to recovery (cwm) or to SU. How to flash it back

View 3 Replies View RelatedRunning into another issue regarding my S4 here. Before the 4x2 clock widget I had would always be in sync to that of my carrier's time. Now, when I scroll around my phone or go back to check the time or even after unlocking my device, the widget is a good minute or two behind of my actual provider's time. It takes itself about 30 seconds to correct itself, I was just curious if there is anything I can do to fix this issue?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI really don't have any desire to root in general...perhaps if it were all simple and zero-risk, OK.
But I'm considering root just to get full, normal, access to microSD. Is root the only way to get access?
Is it possible for an update that allows Bluetooth devices without root? Would it be a software update or something more?

My Samsung Galaxy S4 will NOT charge all of a sudden. This started yesterday. It gave me an error message saying that creating a customized of could be harmful and to press the volume down key to stop it before it starts. I pressed the down key to stop it. My phone was going dead. So after connecting it to its charger and rebooting the phone; it would chim]e and say that it is charging but it WILL NOT CHARGE!
I have reset the s4 back to factory settings, I have tried x 3 other chargers that work fine with my wife's S4. I have also taken the battery and putnitnin my wifes s4 and the battery charges completely fine.
I upgraded my firmware to 4.4.2 kitkat and now my GS4 seems to run abit sluggish. I get some delay when entering and exiting apps and also some delay when you hold the home button to open the task manager. Also when I type sometimes what I type takes awhile to come up and also takes some time for the phone to react to the buttons I press. Is this an issue with the new update. I have the Rogers version of the Gs4. Also if I have to end up restoring my phone, software because I used Samsung Kies in the past and found that when you restore your apps back to your phone. Samsung Kies does not restore your save data for the apps.

And on my phone, even the menu choice for 3.0 no longer shows as a third optioned. i downloaded and install Kies 3 and the USB drivers from Samsungs website, the same with there Galaxy Note-3 after upgrading to KitKat.
View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore I updated my Galaxy S4 I had the option to hide apps. I hided a lot of apps that I didn't used like for example: internet, story album, TripAdvisor, S Planner etc.
Now I want to see my apps. I couldn't find them. I did some research and they told me to do this: apps, menu, uninstall/disable apps. It worked for me for some apps but not for all of them. I couldn't get for example S Planner, Internet etc. back. How can I get ALL of my (hidden) apps back?
After upgrading my Samsung Galaxy S4 to 4.4.2 I haven't been able to connect to any WiFi networks. When I pull down the notification bar and tap the WiFi icon to turn the WiFi on it turns a dull green and stays like that for a few seconds, then goes back to being the colour before I tapped it. Other times, it turns the usual green but it doesn't connect to any WiFi networks and says "not in range" to those WiFi networks that I connected to before the update. It shows it scanning but nothing comes up. Another member of my family has the Samsung Galaxy S4 and they haven't updated there phone to 4.4.2 yet and they haven't got this problem.
I have no clue how to sort this out. I've turned my phone off and waited a bit then turned it back on many times, to no avail.
I accidentally deleted my App Tray Icon for my Solo launcher on my Galaxy Note 3..

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently updated to Android 4.4 and have encountered a problem with setting custom notification sounds.
Every time I want to set a custom notification I get this list of Samsung sounds to choose from, instead of being asked, for instance, where I want to find the sound.
My friend, who has an LG G2 running Android 4.3 gets the following when he clicks on notification sound in Whatsapp:
Whereas I get this:
I then thought to install an app that controls all notification sounds, kind of like Lightflow does notification LEDs. I found MegaSound and tried that. Gave it permission, went in, tried to set a custom notification sound for Whatsapp and was shown the same list to choose from.
Before I updated I was able to choose a wma/mp3 sound from my files on my phone to use.
