Jul 4, 2010I just got my phone about 4 days ago, and when opening apps, unlocking, opening contact lists etc etc, it just lags heaps. Does anybody else have the same issue? Could it just be an optimization thing or something?

I know it's naturally low, since it's only 512, but I've been uninstalling unnecessary apps using Titanium Backup (I'm rooted) and the phone still doesn't work very smoothly. It sometimes freezes for a while and then restarts on its own.

First : I downloaded like 10 apps and it was going too slow and sometimes it stucked in some position and it wont get out and work for about 1 hour so i had to restart it , when i clicked some apps or buttons it will click them several times and doesnt work properly , i have not installed a sd card . yesterday i reset the whole phone and started all over and now it is a little bit better but still
KitKat 4.4 :: Samsung Galaxy S4 Being Sluggish?
Apr 4, 2014I upgraded my firmware to 4.4.2 kitkat and now my GS4 seems to run abit sluggish. I get some delay when entering and exiting apps and also some delay when you hold the home button to open the task manager. Also when I type sometimes what I type takes awhile to come up and also takes some time for the phone to react to the buttons I press. Is this an issue with the new update. I have the Rogers version of the Gs4. Also if I have to end up restoring my phone, software because I used Samsung Kies in the past and found that when you restore your apps back to your phone. Samsung Kies does not restore your save data for the apps.

Aug 27, 2010Got my SGS this week and only real annoying problem is I find the accelerometer to be slow on times.....when I want to text and switch to the qwerty board by rotating the phone it sometimes just sits there and does not respond, can wait for a while, (smae when I want to view my photos) or I will just move it back vertical and then horizontal again.....really annoying, anyone get same prob? is there any fixes/causes for this?

Apr 26, 2014I recently updated to Android 4.4 and have encountered a problem with setting custom notification sounds.
Every time I want to set a custom notification I get this list of Samsung sounds to choose from, instead of being asked, for instance, where I want to find the sound.
My friend, who has an LG G2 running Android 4.3 gets the following when he clicks on notification sound in Whatsapp:

I then thought to install an app that controls all notification sounds, kind of like Lightflow does notification LEDs. I found MegaSound and tried that. Gave it permission, went in, tried to set a custom notification sound for Whatsapp and was shown the same list to choose from.
Before I updated I was able to choose a wma/mp3 sound from my files on my phone to use.

Sep 23, 2013I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 and am trying to write a shell script that will simulate screen presses in a very rapid fashion. To do so, I stumbled across the "input tap" function from /system/bin/input and my script looks like this:

Anyway, the code works great in that it will tap the screen at location 640,100. However, each call to "input tap" takes almost a second to return. My script takes around 10 seconds to complete. However, I was hoping to find a way to speed up the call to "input tap". I am not sure if this is a limitation of my phone.

May 1, 2014A while back I had my brother root my Samsung Galaxy S3 for me. I unrooted it using SuperSU but when I went to install the latest KitKat update (4.4.2) it flashed the yellow triangle and said I had unauthorized software and I needed to contact the Verizon store. I did the down volume-home-power thing and took care of that but it is clear to me that even though SuperSU says my phone is unrooted it isn't. How do I really unroot my phone?

Dec 5, 2013I have a Virgin Mobile Galaxy S3 that just got the 4.4 update this morning. Afterwards it had to redownload/update nearly every app on the device as well as all my SNES and Playsation ROMs which I though was odd.
Now all the notifications for thos downloads will not go away. I've cleared them all at once, I've cleared them all individually. When I turn the screen off and then turn it back on an dunlock the phone all those notifications are back in the notification bar.

Android :: SQLite Is Extremely Slow In Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000
Aug 17, 2010I am having problem with performance of SQLite database in Android application in Samsung Galaxy GT-I9000 device. The database contains 10 tables with 3 - 8 columns each.
As soon as a database file gains about 400 KB update/instert queries need much more time to execute - 2 seconds! In comparision to other devices (HTC Magic, HTC Desire) update/insert queries take about 40 msec !
The database file is located in application data directory. Moving database file to sd card increases the speed significantly.
Periodic ANALYZE and VACUUM commands do not affect the speed. As well as PRAGMA cache_size command.
Do you have any ideas how to improve the performance? for keeping the database in sd card or splitting the database into many files containing one table each.

Sep 18, 2013I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy s4 mini and have realized that my contacts seem to appear on the screen very slow. It sometimes takes upto 2 minutes to appear. Some thing you all should know is that I have 2000+ contacts (mainly clients).
At first I was using google contacts and i assumed this was causing it to lag due to using data to refresh... but I transferred all the contacts to the device itself... so it shouldn't lag anymore!
When people even call... there name doesnt appear, and only the phone number shows, even though I have the number installed in my contacts. This is also the case with text messages. When I want to compose a new text, and search for a contact... it doesnt do anything for about a minute or two.
I have opened the developer mode, and changed the animations to off, but this hasnt solved the problem.

I have installed lots of applications on the phone and i think coz of which the phone has become really slow. If i go to task-manager---> Summary, under program it shows 456MB/516MB. Is there a workaround to keep all the current apps on the phone and also increase the spee of the phone. For eg;- when i hit the phone key, it takes 5 sec to open the keypad/calllog window.

My update reach from half and hour to 7 hours. Often it only updates every 3 hours. My battery is full to 3/4 at this time.
According to Google the updates depend on how often you move and how strong your battery is, but the update will never take longer than 1 hour.
Do you guys experience the same problem?

On my computer, I am getting 7 mbps download speed and 6 mbps when I am supposed to be getting 50 Mbps on my comupter.

May 21, 2014I upgraded to 4.4 last night. Overall, it seems fine to me but one thing that annoys me is that the menus have slowed down. I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm referring to the menu that you can drag from the top of the screen (I'm using a Galaxy S3) by swiping your finger from the very top of the screen downwards. Has notifications and all the enable/disable icons for the various services. Used to be fast when I would swipe my finger down rapidly, now it lags. Wonder if there is any way to fix that, or if it's just part of 4.4?

Mar 20, 2014my Moto G is so slow when i try to browse the internet in chrome or dolphin if i'm connected to any WiFi. when i search with Google the initial results come up fast, but then when i click on the page if it is not already cached the blue bar will freeze for 10 seconds, load a little bit, then freeze again for another 10 seconds, then eventually load the page. this doesn't happen at all on 3G. I've done speed tests and they don't seem to be effected by the slow speed on wifi. I've tried disabling wifi optimization, location services, and battery saver, but nothing works.
