Jelly Bean :: How To Read Exif Data On S3 With Android 4.3

Jan 9, 2014

With android 4.1 on my Galaxy S3 I could select an image in the gallery, tap the menu and choose settings where I could find the exif data, but since upgrading to 4.3 the settings option is missing. So how do I now pull up the exif, notably the gps coordinates, on the phone?

Jelly Bean :: How To Install Stock Jelly Bean On Android Device

May 17, 2014

I have a Coolpad 8720L with its own interface built upon 4.3 Jelly Bean. It's not very good, and I'd like to install stock Android instead. How do I do this?

I heard that I have to root the device, and then find a ROM for stock Jelly Bean to load onto the device?

Jelly Bean :: Dual Sim - Disable Completely Data For Second Sim?

May 26, 2014

I have a Be.SOCIAL SC020 with Android 4.1.2, which has two SIM slots.

I want to make sure that SIM2 never, ever connects to the Internet, though I do want to use it for calls and SMSs.

Under Settings, I can't find any setting for enabling/disabling data completely per-sim. (There is an option for enabling/disabling data *roaming* per sim). There _is_ a setting under Data Usage for putting a limit for data consumption: there you can set a warning threshold and a limit. However, while the warning can be set to 0MB, the lowest value you can set for the limit is 1MB (I know, so stupid...).

Up to now, I haven't detected any data usage on sim2, but my fear is that at any moment when the data network for sim1 may become temporarily unavailable for any reason, sim2 may be used for data. Even if I have set the 1MB limit, sim2's operator will charge me a fixed amount per week if I use non-zero data.

So how do I disable data completely for sim2 while keeping data enabled for sim1 and keeping sim2 enabled for voice and sms?

Jelly Bean :: Galaxy S4 Losing Data Connection When On 3G

Feb 4, 2014

I first noticed this maybe late last week where my phone would appear to have data (bars and the 3g/4g symbol) but not actually being able to connect to things. I'd enable and disable airplane mode to reset things and it would work for awhile.

Yesterday, I contacted Sprint about this because it is fairly annoying. While paying closer attention, I started noticing that my data worked with 4G but would not with 3G. In Settings -> More Networks -> Mobile Networks - > Network Mode: I changed it from LTE/CDMA to CDMA. When the phone rebooted, I was on 3G and the data worked. When I changed it back to LTE/CDMA 4G would work but 3G would not. I've also tried Automatic and 4G works but 3G does not. Needless to say, I spent an hour with customer support and their best solution was to just leave it in CDMA mode. When I complained that I'd lose my 4G service, the tech asked for my zip code and after a moment told me 4G was unavailable in my area. I've been using it for more than 6 months, was using it today, and have seen the sensorly maps showing 4G availability......

It definitely seems like a phone issue over a network issue because the 3G network is clearly working if I can use it when I've disabled LTE. The most annoying/frustrating issue is that the phone claims to have 3G but nothing works.

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4
Provider: Sprint
Android Version: 4.3

Jelly Bean :: No Option To Turn Mobile Data On Or Off On Galaxy S3

Nov 22, 2013

I bought an ATT S3, running android 4.1.2. I set up the APN as instructed by straight talk and everything works except data... just can't connect to the internet. On my old sprint S3, there is an option to turn data on and off in the top menu bar (when you swipe downwards from the top of the screen), but this option does not exist on this phone. There are buttons for wifi, bluetooth, gps, etc but NO DATA! At first I was thinking it was the APN settings, but now I am thinking there is something else wrong because I don't even see the data button to toggle it on or off. I can't see incorrect APN settings preventing the toggle data option from even showing on the phone.

Jelly Bean :: Get Rid Of Android 4.3 In Galaxy S3 (SGH-747)

Dec 18, 2013

I got an OTA Android 4.3 update last week (or two weeks ago, perhaps) for my AT&T (out of contract) Galaxy S3 (SGH-747), shortly after (~6 weeks I think) getting an update to 4.x (can't recall which number it was, but it was less than 4.3, maybe 4.2.1?)

The 4.3 update has completely screwed my phone:

Have Slowness issuesHome screen repaints icons noticeably slowlyThere are now sticky notifications of two downloads that happened BACK IN MARCH. No matter how many times I click on clear, they come back almost immediatelyHUGE BATTERY DRAIN. THE BATTERY COMPLETELY DEPLETES AFTER 2 HOURS AT MOST, WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN BEFORE THIS STUPID UPDATEBattery stats shows the drain is because of an app that I completely doubt did anything. When I uninstalled such app Android is now blaming Android system (or something like that), and the battery drain continues CANNOT ACTIVATE WiFi HOTSPOT ANY MORE. "Please wait while verifying" and then "A network error has occurred". Even with FoxFi, I get the same issueetc.

I am no longer using AT&T but instead StraightTalk (for 10+ months). Everything was working perfectly for me before this stupid update

Checked that there is no newer update. Also, installed Kies 3.0 and it tells me my OS is not supported for updates via Kies either.

how to wipe out this update and go back to the stock original rom (4.1.1 i think).

Jelly Bean :: Why Do Web Videos Play Better On IOS Than Android

Dec 18, 2013

I've been using the Galaxy Note 3 for the last 2 months but I still have my iPhone 5. Something that I've noticed is that a lot of videos that play on ios don't play on android. And if I can play the video on my Android then the video is much more laggy and not as clear than on my iPhone 5. These are regular websites like sports websites (nhl, nba, espn etc) or Team Stream app/website, or random other sites that have videos for mobile devices. Sometimes (with my Android) on sites, the video shows the play button, but the video still doesn't play. I don't understand this because on my iPhone 5 the videos play perfectly, load much quicker, play and look smoother, and just look more clear. Or is this just something that android lacks in its OS?

Android :: How To Do EXIF Reading And Writing

Jun 17, 2009

I've been looking around on the net and in this group, but i have not found any java package that can read and write EXIF data.

I tried Sanselan. They say they don't use ImageIO/AWT, but they actually do use AWT. The class can not be loaded because there is an AWT dependency:

CODE:......

What i want is not so much creating my own EXIF data, but preserving a JPEG's meta-data (EXIF). I'm planning to load a JPEG, edit its bitmap and write it out again to a(nother) JPEG with the same meta-data as its original.
