I gave up on Samsung, with their useless support.I would like my contacts and calendar to be the same at all times on my computer (windows 7 outlook 2010) on my phone (Note 3 with 4.3) and on my iPad (air)..I've been trying to sync outlook to the android, but no luck.So thought I will try to sync the iCloud to the Android, maybe that works.

I purchased my first smartphone last week, a Windows Lumia. I am returning the phone tomorrow because Microsoft forces the user to sync contacts, calendar, and documents if the user wants to download apps. I find this a huge privacy invasion. What a shame Microsoft doesn't give me q choice to disable this syncing.
so, before I waste even more money...does Android allow me to download apps AND disable syncing of phone contacts, cal, pictures, etc?I will return this phone anway and NEVER own a smartphone.
I mostly use my smartphone to take pictures and the iCloud photo stream sharing option is great for sharing pictures with close family members. Apple makes it ridiculously easy to do this quickly with a few clicks. My parents love it because they can easily see the pictures we share with them on their iPhones and iPads.
However after using a Nexus 4 for a month, I am thinking of making a switch to Android permanently. It is a great phone. However the inability to sync pictures with the iCloud photo stream is giving me second thoughts. The Google+ sharing feature is not very intuitive...or at least it is not as easily done. Since I've got my parents trained on iOS, and the Photo album contains every thing in one place, I don't want to try to get them used to a new app.
Is there an easy way to sync pictures that you take on your Android device with your iCloud photo stream without having to plug the phone to a laptop?
Is there any way to sync icloud contacts and calendar back and forth to my S4? I use Mac computers and would like to use my S4 and have all of my contacts and calendar off of icloud.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOK so I'm loving the note 3 so far but I need a laptop. I really want a macbook pro 13 inch with retina display for school and recreational use. My mind is pretty much set for this laptop although expensive I'm sure it will last me through college (tenth grade atm) and that's what I want. Anyway my main concern is that my phone won't sync well with the laptop and I want to be able to download stuff onto my phone, along with seeing my videos and photos. Even though its an Apple computer will it work just as well as an iPhone would with this laptop?

But do i NEED to keep my auto sync enabled for Google Now or should it also work if I turn it off?

One of the biggest question I have right now is photo sync. My partner an I are using the same gmail ID on both devices and we use google+ to automatically upload our images.
we were wondering like with iCloud if it was possible to also automatically download images. For instant, if i happen to take a picture with my phone it uploads to google picassa, is there a way for my partners phone to automatically download this image to the phone? so both phones have identical photo albums ?
Last week I purchased a new Note 2 (which I love!) and one of the first things I did was to sync with my Google account and get my Google contacts installed back on the phone. Second thing was to install the Facebook app and sync my Google contacts with their appropriate FB profile photos, account info from Facebook. However, upon telling Facebook to sync with currently existing contacts, I noticed that my Contacts list was now populated with *ALL* of my facebook friends.
Previously on my Evo 4G running Gingerbread 2.3.5, this worked perfectly. My Google contacts were the only contacts listed but their FB profile data showed up just fine. I seen there were some 3rd party apps on the Play Store that will do this, but I'm wondering if there is a way to do it with just the original FB app.
Finally got the note 3 from Telus and loved the big screen + battery capacity!!(Ditched the iPhone 4 for note and it was a perfect choice!)
However, since I am completely a noob in android, how do I sync note, reminder and calendar with Google?
I'm looking for a tutorial to Root and then revert back to JellyBean from KitKat on a Nexus 7 2013 2nd Gen, non carrier, WiFi only, or Whatever is required to switch back to JB from KK..

I made an account on my wife's phone and everything shows up. I made an account for my wife on my phone and it shows no syncs available. So I know it's not an account problem, rather a software problem?

I wanted to go to the play store on my tab to update an app I had but I couldn't connect to the store at all. So I went to the my account under the in the settings app and I saw that its been having some sync issues. I kept retrying the sync but it kept failing. So I deleted the account off of my tablet and tryed to log back in. Now it won't even log in and its telling me it can't establish a reliable connection to the server and takes me to the WiFi options in settings.
I dont know whats wrong. My internet works perfectly fine. I can surf the web, watch videos, download and even play apps that require an online connection on my tab but I can't use any Google services for some reason.
I am using a locally made make of phone called a Firefly. My last phone was a samsung, which was way too small and too slow.
When I first added my google account to my andoid phone, I thought nothing of it syncing the contacts. I did not realize that google had kindly created a contact for every single person I had ever emailed in my entire life. For most people, I am sure that this is quite an accurate list, but I manage a business, so I get lots of emails from people and systems that I never need on my phone.
When I first noticed this, I disabled syncing of contacts and manually removed all the contacts from my phonebook. This left me with a nice neat list of contacts. Great. But... When I go to send a text message and add a recipient, I am displayed with a gigantic list of thousands of contacts, most of whom are email addresses and at least 98% of whom are people I would never ever want to send a text message to.
I have searched everywhere, but can not find any way to access this contact list within my phone so I can clean it. The only solution I have been able to find is to first delete all contacts from google, then enable sync, then disable sync after it completes. This is really not ideal as I need these contacts in my google account, but not on my phone.

Everything works very well. I haven't noticed any hangups at all, with the exception of 1. my google latitude contacts don't sync. they appear on my desktop but dont appear on my phone with latitude installed.
I'd like to know if there's a way to backup and restore all your configured sync accounts within JB.
I find it very annoying to have to redo each one after every flash.
Unfortunately TitaniumBackup doesn't work well for this anymore

I select the page where all the apps are...select xbmc app...sometimes it flicks back to main apps page other times the screen turns black/blank. I can't get further than this page....my box has worked perfectly for the past 3 months since purchasing. I can't get into the settings page as I can't get past the blank .

The 4.3 update has completely screwed my phone:

Checked that there is no newer update. Also, installed Kies 3.0 and it tells me my OS is not supported for updates via Kies either.

View 7 Replies View RelatedTrying to root the phone. I'm not a linux pro... but I can't get the su binaries in the /system/bin folder. It won't let me mount the system saying 'Over-lap error'.
AND When I run deamon, it will start, then it will say it doesn't exist. But it's in the bin folder. Not the su though. Also, I can't connect to HTC through their software to sync or unlock the bootloader.

Just updated my HTC one mini to 4.3. Since updating emoticons do not show up in text messages when i type them or receive them in the standard format such as ": )" they stay as the code. They do not show up as an actual emoticon like Is there a way to enable emoticons to appear or am i stuck with selecting emoticons from the drop down menu each time I want one. Also when receiving texts with emoticons in codes such as ": )" they do not show up as emoticons.

"Android System" is using 91% battery. I've disabled location services, backup and so forth, but the problem persists. I've tried flashing various ROMs, including stock sense, stock GE and Android Revolution HD 21. The problem is there with all of them.
