HTC Magic :: ROM Upgraded / Difference In Performance

Sep 2, 2009

So if you have ever used Cupcake and upgraded to Hero ROMs, you will obviously notice differences in performance. While you most probably won't be able to make the build go as fast as cupcake, this guide will help you squeeze all the juice you can out of the build, mostly by deleting useless resource-hogging apps. Please note I am not responsible for any damages to your device. Now lets remove some pretty useless apps. Obviously if you use any of these, do not remove them.

1) HTC Sync. If you don't use it, delete it. It is really a resource hog. Please not that before starting any of these command. Please not that you only need to type in adb remount once before you type in all these codes. Note: Please note that the * after PCSII* is in fact supposed to be there, and is not a typo!

Samsung Behold 2 :: What If Anything Will Upgraded OS Do To Improve Performance Of Processor?

Jan 1, 2010

I've always said that the Behold2 is a great looking phone. It has software/OS issues for sure. However, I don't use the cube so, that bit of nonsense doesn't get in my way. The laggi-ness does get on my nerves because it slows things to a crawl much too often. Sometimes programs or the TouchWiz slider don't open when they should. Frozen-ness happens too.

The scary part is that I have very few third party apps installed. Sometimes the controls for the Media player don't show up at all. So you can see why I am reticent to install anything beyond what I consider to be essentials so as not to over-burden an already beleaguered setup.Considering these known issues, why were we ignored on the Android 1.6 release? We weren't graced with 2.0 either. Now 2.1 is on the horizon and there is no word about its being sent our way. I'd like to think that Samsung or Tmo wants to keep us happy so that we don't jump ship in a few days. I could dump this puppy because I am within my 14 days and am not a happy camper.

Questions: What if anything will an upgraded OS do to improve the performance of our processor? Or, what improvements might we expect with a new OS release?

HTC Magic :: Sluggish Performance / Poor Battery

Sep 12, 2009

I just got an HTC Magic from Rogers a few days ago and I'm noticing that it's running REALLY slow. The lag is unreal when I text and the battery dies very quickly. I have TWO widgets open (calendar and Google search) and the transition from sliding screens is sluggish. I rooted my phone a few days ago. Could this be the problem? Has anyone else experienced this? I heard that Sense UI is supposed to cause problems, but I haven't heard anything regarding Cupcake.

Motorola Droid :: Clear Performance Difference - Bekit 1200LV Vs P3 1200LV With BB V1

May 18, 2010

Someone else had posted some findings between two different kernels and battery power, I can't find the thread - it's late though. Anyhow - the Bekit kernel was recommended as being the ONLY type to use with BB V1, upon initial release. Battery sucked, we all know it. Then I tried SetCPU, and a ton of different configurations - still sucked. I have JuiceDefender and some like it, others don't - I happen to like it and always have. The one thing I noticed initially upon the Bekit/V1 release was that the JuiceDefender widget: (I grabbed this off google, it's the one on the left) was showing a constant 1.15x whereas my battery multiplier previously was a constant 1.95x. This widget simply confirmed that my battery life was sucking bad. Went to the P3 1200LV and my widget made it to 2.15x and I noticed big time. Today I got 13 hours of light/moderate useage (internet, calls, text, email - NO wifi or GPS) and 13 hours got me down to 25%. With the Bekit I was getting roughly 8 hours or so. Dropping 10% an hour on sleep. I also want to add that I tried Chevy's 1200LV and it rebooted my system randomly. The temp on Bekit and P3 are both good though.......

Android :: How Does Emulator Performance Compare To Real Device Performance?

May 23, 2010

I'm looking into writing an Android game, tough I don't curerntly own an Android device. For those of you who own a device, how does the performance on the emulator relate to real device performance? I'm especially interested in graphics related tasks. This obviously depends on both the machine running the emulator, and the specific device in question, but I'm talking rough numbers here. This question is a duplicate, but since that post is heavily outdated, I figured it's irrelevant by now.

HTC Magic : Putting Openhome Themes On An HTC MAGIC Rogers

I find that it really sucks that I can't use any of the dxtop themes or openhome themes in the market unless I actually have the app itself (which I cannot purchase).

Aug 1, 2010

I've successfully and smoothly been done to upgrade my Desire to the 2.2 in China. Now I am still having some confusion about what I should get from the 2.2:
1. Do I still have to press the power button to unlock the screen?
2. Why are all the downloaded apps not able to move to SD card (the Move to SD button appears shaded)
3. Is Task Killer necessary as it was before the upgrade?

HTC Magic :: A Docking / Speaker Thingy For Magic?

Aug 19, 2009

I was wondering if anybody docks their Magic (or similar) to one of those thing-a-ma-bobs that holds it between two speakers? They're generally made for iPods but hold other players as well.Because of the wee USB port, I have bought a little adaptor so now I've got 3.5mm jack, but I don't know how well that would dock.

I just want something cheap so I can set it on the kitchen counter whilst making dinner and washing up. I don't even necessarily need it to be at a good angle, so I could just buy a cheapie pair of stereo speakers, but thought something small and compact would be more convenient if I want to move things around to different rooms.I went ahead and bought something verrah verrah cheap off Amazon. I'm not looking for a Carnegie Hall experience, so cheap oughta do the trick. But, would still like to hear about your gadget if you want to talk about it.

HTC Desire :: Upgraded To 2.2 Wi-Fi Not Working Properly

Aug 23, 2010

Disclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine. Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.

Is there any way to stop sending extra emails into my Thunderbird email that is linked to my gmail account?. Is there a certain memory level I should try and maintain? I am at 121mb right now with about 12 apps. I know this ain't a BB so just curious.5. This phone rocks!

Also i have already used CM7 and CpySpy was giving me right numbers. why my battery drains even when my phone is in idle and why there are no numbers in CpuSpy.
