Froyo RUU upgraders only, Home->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications and select the "All" tab and scroll down to find the "Field Test" app and check the version.
Mine, FYI, (upgraded to Froyo via the OTA upgrade), reports
"version 2.1->update1"
Use this procedure at your own risk. It's based on information i've collected from various sources. If you brick your phone, invalidate your warranty or something else goes wrong then it's down to you. I've provided this procedure for information only. I've been asked by a couple of people for step by step instructions on how I debranded my Virgin Mobile branded HTC Desire and upgraded it to 2.2. From what I can remember I carried out these steps. I've used information collected form various threads on here and elsewhere. Use at your own risk!
It was essentially done in three steps: set up HTC Sync on my PC (Windows 7 64-bit), create the gold card and then update the firmware. You need to do a bit of preparation first - save any photos, etc that are currently on your phone onto your PC using the USB cable and the phone connected in disk drive mode. Make sure your phone is fully charged. Note down the serial number of your HTC Desire (remove battery and it's on the label or select Settings>About Phone>Phone Indentity). You'll need your serial number to download HTC Sync. Also enable USB Debugging in your HTC Desire by ticking the option under Settings > Application > Development (do this on your HTC Desire)...................
No Path to Official DROIDX Update Coming from Motorola for Leaked 2.2 Users | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog Ouch. Honestly, I saw this coming. Ah well. For those who upgraded, and still want the official release, flashing the phone back to stock is not all that hard from what I've read.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Froyo and when I put the phone in the desktop dock it goes into desktop mode but the screen times out after about 30 seconds. When I had 2.1 it stayed fully lit the whole time it was on the dock.Did this happen to anyone else? This is really annoying because I use it next to my office computer to easily check my schedule, time, tasks etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to root my refurb 1.5 that I just got yesterday. And thinking that I was putting the root file on my phone, the one that I downloaded from the instructions and placed it on my sd card, I did the volume down+power button to get to hboot screen. It said upgrade and I pressed yes, not realizing that it was the 2.1 upgrade it wanted me to do and not root. Now I'm on 2.1, which I did not want.

Is a app killer necessary or can I just do a phone reboot via the power menu 2. How often is it necessary to run a allkiller/system reboot? 3. Is there any way to stop sending extra emails into my Thunderbird email that is linked to my gmail account?. Is there a certain memory level I should try and maintain? I am at 121mb right now with about 12 apps. I know this ain't a BB so just curious.5. This phone rocks!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen videos on youtube where someone has rooted an eris and put froyo 2.2 on the phone. The question I have is if you can root the eris if its already been upgraded to 2.1 and if you can how in depth is it. Where would you go to get the program and is it as easy as the videos up for rooting with 2.1 from 1.5.
View 43 Replies View RelatedI've successfully and smoothly been done to upgrade my Desire to the 2.2 in China. Now I am still having some confusion about what I should get from the 2.2:
1. Do I still have to press the power button to unlock the screen?
2. Why are all the downloaded apps not able to move to SD card (the Move to SD button appears shaded)
3. Is Task Killer necessary as it was before the upgrade?
I've been using Nonsensikal since rooting, and I guess I'll need to find a new ROM. Anyone have any suggestions for a good Froyo ROM(non-sense)? I tried Tazz and Kaosfroyo a while back but they seemed a little rough, have they improved enough?
Also is anyone having trouble with their Nonsensikal ROM? My phone has been a complete dog today, it's like it's stock again. I haven't upgraded to 10.0 but am in the process right now.
I am using my brothers upgrade tomorrow to get the X. If I go to the verizon store without his phone can verizon reactivate his phone after transferring the X to my line or do they need his phone there to reactivate it?
View 15 Replies View RelatedDisclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine. Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo if you have ever used Cupcake and upgraded to Hero ROMs, you will obviously notice differences in performance. While you most probably won't be able to make the build go as fast as cupcake, this guide will help you squeeze all the juice you can out of the build, mostly by deleting useless resource-hogging apps. Please note I am not responsible for any damages to your device. Now lets remove some pretty useless apps. Obviously if you use any of these, do not remove them.
1) HTC Sync. If you don't use it, delete it. It is really a resource hog. Please not that before starting any of these command. Please not that you only need to type in adb remount once before you type in all these codes. Note: Please note that the * after PCSII* is in fact supposed to be there, and is not a typo!

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am new to android, but I am really excited about this phone. It's not really a deal breaker for me, I just see that the HTC Legend does have 16m colors, and it looks very crisp, it also runs the same version of android apparently as the EVO. I just want to know if this can be possibly done, I know that the EVO has a bigger screen and this might be the reason why it's only 65k, but I want a 16m color display for my EVO!
View 49 Replies View RelatedI have currently upgraded my Xperia Neo to CM9. I have been experiencing a bit lesser batter life. Also when i use CpySpy app it doesnt show the time spent by the processor in the specified frequencies. It always shows 0 for all states. that is definitely not correct. The system can't be idle when I use right? So i'm wondering is there any issue with CM9 or my phone particularly. Also i have already used CM7 and CpySpy was giving me right numbers. why my battery drains even when my phone is in idle and why there are no numbers in CpuSpy.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've come to the conclusion that I really don't like the default keyboard included with the kaosfroyo rom. As cool as it looks, its just bad at correcting mistakes. The htc keyboard was great once you calibrated it, and seemed to remember certain words that you use often to suggest them over other choices. Is it possible to install the HTC keyboard on this rom? Are they any other keyboards worth trying?
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe one thing I just couldn't get to work was Navigation in Froyo ROMs. It would always get stuck at "Searching for GPS." Well on xda, a fellow member told me to flash the new CFS kernal from Conap ) So this is what I did to finally get the Navigation to work!
1. Reboot into recovery and make a Nandroid backup just in case.
2. Wipe Dalvik cache
3. Flash new CFS kernal [GPL]2.6.29.6 CFS Kernel 9/4/10 - xda-developers(There is also a BFS kernal which is only if you want high benchmarks, CFS is for overall stability)
4. Once rebooted, clear the data of Maps in Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
5. Open up Maps and put in directions to an address, then click Navigate.
6. Once Navigation is up and running, it will get stuck at "Searching for GPS." Make a sandwich, wash dishes, etc.
7. Sooner or later it will get pass the "Searching for GPS" stage. (It took 15 minutes for me)
8. Navigation should be working instantly now, back out of Navigation, try a new address, and Navigation should instantly work without having to go through "Searching for GPS."
I've been running xtrSense and xtrRom for months with great results.
I decided to try a Froyo based Rom and my first two attempts (FroShedYo.V6 and Nonsensikal v13.2) both had the same WiFi issue.
I can't connect or even detect my wireless network. I'm 5 feet away from the AP which had great connectivity with the xtr Roms.
Settings..show Wi-Fi scanning continously.
Reboot...cycled airplane mode... nothing.
Even rewiped and reflashed.
Everything else appears to be working great.
It doesn't go together! Anyone found a fix for this?
