General :: CPU Usage - Upgraded Xperia Neo To CM9
Jul 16, 2012
I have currently upgraded my Xperia Neo to CM9. I have been experiencing a bit lesser batter life. Also when i use CpySpy app it doesnt show the time spent by the processor in the specified frequencies. It always shows 0 for all states. that is definitely not correct. The system can't be idle when I use right? So i'm wondering is there any issue with CM9 or my phone particularly. Also i have already used CM7 and CpySpy was giving me right numbers. why my battery drains even when my phone is in idle and why there are no numbers in CpuSpy.

I'm trying to figure out how to stop the notifications everytime an app is updated automatically. The updates are good; just don't want the notifications. It seems to be for almost all my apps that are updating.
In the Google Play Store settings, I have unchecked the Notifications checkbox, but that (surprisingly) did not do it.

I just get my Xperia X10 and need to know a few questions about the data usage. I am orange Dolphin 15 plan I get 250mb of internet usage per month. If I am at home using wifi does that use 250mb which I am allowed each month? I use face book and the auto update time scape thing. How much MB will that use? Will I only be able to use time scape with 3g or can I use 2g to get updates aswell?

one of my other issues with my newly acquired X10 is its apparent heavy CPU usage. I would go so far as saying that the phone is close to unusable when it has just booted. So here goes my findings. I've installed a program called CPU Usage (quite logically) which monitors CPU usage for various tasks on the phone. Here is what I get when the phone has just been booted:
PID / Name / CPU Usage
954 / Sync Feeds/Checking Service/Setting Storage/Android System / 39-58% (No, I'm not kidding)
1054 / Download Manager/DRM /23-31% (still not kidding)
1171 / Face Recognition Service / 11-12% (not as bad, but still, why is it even there???)
The worst thing is that these services don't stop using the CPU - no, they keep on running and using CPU in the designated ranges, unless I kill them. So I go and kill them using another program I installed...................

I was just wondering how, if possible, to check Internet usage? I'm with Orange on a monthly contract, think my allowance is 500GB a month? Is there a way to check usage as going along, don't fancy getting a bill at the end of the month which is huge! Say I use the Internet (Google, Facebook etc etc) one hour a day, is that a reasonable amount to be within the 500GB limit? I don't want to get a huge surprise when the monthly bill comes through.

I am thinking about renewing my contract and purchasing an Xperia X10 or possibly another android phone. The carrier I have requires data when using a smartphone. The problem is that I am virtually always near a wifi connection so I don't need data. Is there or will there ever be and app or a way to root the X10 so that my carrier thinks I am using some other phone and I don't have to be charged for data?If I was unclear, please ask questions.

O2 have changed the bolt on I had from unlimited usage of internet to 500mb per month. The row I had with them was of no benefit. Anyway, in the space of 3 days I have used 100mb already & haven't really been using browser or downloading (I did obtain album artwork for transferred music files on Mediascape though). Is it possible that Timescape updates of Twitter & Facebook are draining my monthly allowance? I would check emails on the phone too. Haven't been watching YouTube or anything like that.

When using Timescape, getting updates does that count as Internet Usage? Do I turn off the Sync Service to turn off Timescape from updating? I just don't want to go over my limit and realise I have to pay tons for the data usage!?

I don't know if it's my phone or what but when I look up the Other Usage on my phone, it shows it "Running" more than 2/3 of the time. And on Network Usage, "Android System" and "Media" use a great deal of the phone as well.I think this might have to do with my "android.process.acore" crashing every once in a while when it's asleep. Based on everyone's feedback I might have to return the Moment for a third time.

I've successfully and smoothly been done to upgrade my Desire to the 2.2 in China. Now I am still having some confusion about what I should get from the 2.2:
1. Do I still have to press the power button to unlock the screen?
2. Why are all the downloaded apps not able to move to SD card (the Move to SD button appears shaded)
3. Is Task Killer necessary as it was before the upgrade?

Froyo RUU upgraders only, Home->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications and select the "All" tab and scroll down to find the "Field Test" app and check the version.
Mine, FYI, (upgraded to Froyo via the OTA upgrade), reports
"version 2.1->update1"

I was trying to root my refurb 1.5 that I just got yesterday. And thinking that I was putting the root file on my phone, the one that I downloaded from the instructions and placed it on my sd card, I did the volume down+power button to get to hboot screen. It said upgrade and I pressed yes, not realizing that it was the 2.1 upgrade it wanted me to do and not root. Now I'm on 2.1, which I did not want.

Disclaimer: I've started a new thread as I felt this was distinct enough from 2.2 feedback and different from a similar thread.I upgraded to 2.2 today, did it over my mobile H connection and it all worked fine, no problems to report.Got home and turned the wi-fi on and while it will see all the surround access points, included mine, it won't actually connect to mine. When I go right into the settings and look at what's happening it appears to be unable to get past 'Obtaining Address.Nothing has changed on my wireless setup from this morning when 2.1 connected fine.I've rebooted both the router and the phone and it still doesn't connect. All i've not done yet is a factory reset on the phone, but to be honest i'm loathe to do that unless it's completely necessary.Strangely the wi-fi hotspot feature on the phone is working fine. Can someone please help, this is a major issue for me.

So if you have ever used Cupcake and upgraded to Hero ROMs, you will obviously notice differences in performance. While you most probably won't be able to make the build go as fast as cupcake, this guide will help you squeeze all the juice you can out of the build, mostly by deleting useless resource-hogging apps. Please note I am not responsible for any damages to your device. Now lets remove some pretty useless apps. Obviously if you use any of these, do not remove them.
1) HTC Sync. If you don't use it, delete it. It is really a resource hog. Please not that before starting any of these command. Please not that you only need to type in adb remount once before you type in all these codes. Note: Please note that the * after PCSII* is in fact supposed to be there, and is not a typo!

Reasoning behind March 31st coming and going and nothing OTA? Looks like we've been bumped from Eclair to FroYo and this is the projected version. www.stevebirstok.com/android/froyoleak.zip Root files are included as well.

Just got myself a new toy! This thing is awesome. So far I haven't found any major dislikes. I do have a couple questions though. 1. Is a app killer necessary or can I just do a phone reboot via the power menu 2. How often is it necessary to run a allkiller/system reboot? 3. Is there any way to stop sending extra emails into my Thunderbird email that is linked to my gmail account?. Is there a certain memory level I should try and maintain? I am at 121mb right now with about 12 apps. I know this ain't a BB so just curious.5. This phone rocks!

I am new to android, but I am really excited about this phone. It's not really a deal breaker for me, I just see that the HTC Legend does have 16m colors, and it looks very crisp, it also runs the same version of android apparently as the EVO. I just want to know if this can be possibly done, I know that the EVO has a bigger screen and this might be the reason why it's only 65k, but I want a 16m color display for my EVO!
