HTC Desire HD :: How To Delete Contacts Imported By Facebook?
Oct 28, 2010
Right, here goes. I've got all the contacts I want in my contacts folder. Some of them are linked to their facebook accounts which I like. But when I tap phone, a load of people who I only chat to on Facebook are there despite not being in the contacts folder. So how do I edit what appears under "Phone" Is there away to get rid of all the contacts that Facebook imported in one go? Or a way to edit my phone directory online? I didn't know that when I set up my Facebook account it would import anyone who has a number to my Phonebook!

Over the last couple of weeks, I've had some problems with Facebook for HTC (between contacts and FriendStream). Through performing some fixes, I've had to remove my Facebook account from the phone, and set it up again twice. Well tonight, after removing the account, I could not get ANY of my contacts to show up at all. This includes my regular Google contacts (not just the ones synced with FB. It looked like the phone was trying to sync and never loading when I opened the people app.Well, this went on for about an hour with no luck, even with rebooting several times. I finally decided to setup my Facebook account again. Sure enough, once I setup the FB account, all of my contacts showed up fine with no syncing issue. The problem is, now when I go into a contact that has no FB contact link, press the "link" icon on the top right, select Facebook, it lists multiples of ALL of my Facebook friends. Almost as if each time I setup my Facebook account again, it just re-imported all of my FB friends without replacing them. How can I delete these duplicates, or even all of my Facebook contacts / friends from my phone, and re-import them? Anyone else have this issue? It seems that removing my Facebook account from my phone not only causes problems with all of my regular Google contacts, but also doesn't delete the Facebook friends left behind on the phone.

Jealous girlfriend searches phone, deletes female contacts she doesn't like. They were facebook sync'd, and after adding one of these girls back, I can't sync her back with her facebook profile (it's not there o_O). Any way to "un-delete" the facebook contact and add her back to my contact list? (only deleted from the phone contact list, and not actual facebook, just to clarify)

I just received my EVO today and linked my facebook account to Friendstream and now all my friends (300+) were added to my contacts list on my phone. This might be a silly question but how do I delete these contacts from my list? I came from an Instinct phone and I just can't find the option to delete contacts on this phone like I did on my previous phone.

I had to switch out samsung transform ultras recently so I exported all my contacts from my old phone to the sd card and when I got the new phone I synced with my google account and tons of contacts that weren't. On my old list were showing up I tried deleting over 100 people from all the social sites and google said it was too many so I just reset the phone to factory and set up a new gmail and turned off auto syncing. Then I imported my contacts from the SD card and while they are recognized when I dial the number manually or the contact calls me they are not showing up in my actual contact list.

I saved my contacts from my old handset (LG) to the SIM card. I put the SIM into my Milestone and went to contacts, went to import/export and chose Import from SIM. It showed all of my SIM contacts, and I chose Import All. At this point, a dialogue box with a progress bar comes up as it imports all of my contacts. However, when it's finished, they don't appear in my contacts list. It's set to display contacts with numbers. I bluetoothed the .vcf file from my old handset to my MacBook and then from there to the Milestone, and chose Import from SD Card, but I just get the same result. my contacts seem to appear when I type the name into the recipient box while texting but still not in the contacts list, meaning I can't call them and come to think of it, receiving texts from people who should be on my contacts, their name shows up.

I put in my gmail and facebook accounts during the initial setup of the phone. Now I have a crapton of Contacts.. many are just people I have emailed once in my life or some random friend of a friend from facebook. I really don't went them cluttering up my contacts list when I go to make a phone call.
I tried to unsync Contacts in both of these apps, but the contacts didn't go away. Is there some way to delete all of these?

I own a Droid, and consider myself fairly savvy in the Android world, however my wife recently got the Ally and is having a problem editing her contacts. So when she initiqally booted up the phone it walked her through logging into google and facebook, etc, and it imported all those contacts into the phone, however, she wants to add in their phone numbers now, but its not letting her. We click on the menu button, click eedit contact, but then there is no way to edit or add phone numbers.

I had to clear my contact data the other day from settings/applications/manage applications/contacts storage to cure a google mail account sync problem. It worked and the phone now syncs fine. But, I now have duplicates of all facebook events in all my calendars. Can I safely delete the data in settings/applications/manage applications/Facebook for HTC Sense? do you think if I did that that it would sort the problem? Would this cause issues with my contacts, as some are linked to Facebook friends, or would this sort its self out when it re-synced?

When I put my sim card into my phone when I bought it, it has only displayed around 7 of my 60+ contacts which were stored on my sim. I have tried managing this on HTC Sense, but like everyone else most of the features are not working for me. I do not however have any idea how to delete the contats off my sim or just change settings to make sure my sim contacts are not displayed in my contact list.

So I had to send off my Desire earlier on this week as the sensor behind the phone didn't seem to work properly! I recieved a new one today and set it up almost exactly as I had set up my previous. But this second time around (after signing in on Facebook) I seem to have no facebook contacts whatsoever! Even when I go into "View" Facebook appears like the follow: Facebook (0). I'm pretty damn sure I have more than 0 friends on Facebook! I tried a hard reset and it didn't seem to solve the problem!

Just bought a Desire and synced my Contacts with Outlook but result is not to my satisfaction. I want to start over again.
How do I get rid of all my Contacts (they seem to be called People in Desire-speak) in one fell swoop. I know that I can go into the list and select contacts to delete but there are over 1500 contacts there and I'm not going to spend the next 2 weeks deleting them one by one. There must be some way to select them all and then delete them.
Oh, and I don't want to do a hard reset and spend the next few hours re-entering my other data.

Have had a look through other threads, but with no result.I have synced all of my contacts with their relevant Facebook Profiles.Unfortunately, syncing has brought all of their details across - including 'phone numbers' such as 'ask me' etc etc.I've fumbled around the "Edit Contact" screen for quite a while trying to work out how to remove these details from here, but to no avail. It seems I can only edit the details I've entered in myself, and not the details that have been synced from Facebook.I'm aware I can simply remove the link / sync, but I quite like having the contact pictures in there.Anyone know how to remove these 'extra' details but leave it synced?

Just received my Desire and loving it. My only issue so far is that even though I've selected in the People app only to display Google contacts there seems to still be Facebook contacts appearing, albeit only the ones who have entered phone numbers into their Facebook profile. This causes duplicate entries for the same person in messaging apps (default and Handcent) and in the People app it seems to prefer to show the Facebook contact details rather than the Google ones.

Having a few problems ringing people on my phone. I get a voice saying "the number you have called has not been recognised". I looked at the number and it start 447xxxxxxxxxx I went to edit the number in phonebook and it's fine cos it starts off as 07xxxxxxxxx, i have to edit the number each time i wanna ring these person now unless they're in my previous call list! They are linked to their facebook profile but they don't store their number of facebook so why is it being converted to 447xxxxxxxxxx if it has the + before the 44 i think it would be an issue! I've never had this issue before either

When I sync my facebook contacts, a few appear in my phone contacts list.. I can not seem to remove them..
I only want to sync contacts manually to their facebook account and not some random people (who I only added for networking) to appear in my phone contact list.
Any idea why this happens and how I can delete them from that specific list?

I want my contacts to have the facebook profile pictures. Most of them update, but i noticed some dont, which wouldve been bearable if a couple werent in my favourites (people) widget.
I've used SyncMyPics and it seemed to work fine, but all the pictures are now using the gmail picture which is blurry (fixed if i deleted the pic in gmail so itll used facebooks higher quality). but heres the problem, when i go to the contact to pic a new picture, the options are google and facebook, but the google is the updated picture, and facebook is still the old one. I want to use facebook too because its much better quality.

Is there a way to import the facebook contacts stored on my HTC Desire handset to google by utilising the auto-sync feature? I have synced my phone with facebook and now want to transfer the email addresses and birthdays of my facebook friends to google contacts. I understand from reading posts on other forums that there are a few ways to do this, such as manually importing and exporting csv files (Sync/merge Facebook contacts with Gmail contacts - Gmail Help) or by way of a script (Import your Facebook Phonebook into your Google Contacts using Greasemonkey on Firefox), but this will require a manual update whenever I have a new facebook contact. Seeing that my phone could auto-sync with both FB and Google, is there a way to automatically transfer new FB contacts to google whenever I hit the "Sync" button on my phone?
