View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to get into recovery mode using quick boot? Or is there a program out there that will alow me to get into recovery mode. I liked quick boot because it allowed me to make a backup of the phone to an sd card. I am still not sure how to use titanium back up so if there is another program suggested that would be great.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using Goggle's Nexus One with Android 2.2 installed on it. The device is rooted. I have always been using the "quick boot" application with no issues. Recently (about a week), it stopped working. By "stopped working" I mean that it runs, shown the menu to choose boot method from and when I choose one of the options - nothing happens. I tried choosing multiple times, and still no go. I purchased the "hot reboot" app, thinking it might be a problem with the app, and it doesn't work as well. I installed "busybox" and it told me that my device is rooted but it did not manage to install. It is probably a permissions issue. The "superuser" app seems to work, because when I run it it shows me that "set cpu" gets a root access. I tried going back to backups as long as 6 months ago, but it still did not work.

This will bring you to a menu that gives you the option to erase user data or not, choosing yes will reset firmware to factory and you will lose ALL settings, including wallpapers, ringtones, etc, but your sd card will remain untouched... if you brick your hero this should help, but im not claiming responsibility if it doesnt.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I'm not quite ready to root yet but wanted to do some more custimization to my phone. I read in another forum about being able to change the boot animation without root. It worked so after reading about some of you all that don't like the sprint 4g boot animation I figured I'd share.
First, you need to install android SDK. Bill did a good guide to installing it: http://androidforums.com/tips-tricks-evo-4g/90418-how-install-android-sdk.html.
When I was installing the sdk I had a lot of trouble with installing the driver for the EVO for whatever reason. Eventually this is what worked for me:

Once you get SDK installed find a new boot animation. There are a few here: [url]
The boot animation should be a zip file named "bootanimation". Put this file in the tools folder of the sdk.
Open up command prompt (Start>Run>type "cmd"). In command prompt you need to get to the sdk tools folder. To do this I typed in "cd C:Documents and SettingsUserDesktopandroid-sdk-windows ools" where "User"=you user name. This may be different depending on your version of windows and where you unpacked sdk.
Now from here you can check to make sure your device is connected by typing in "adb devices". If you get a line that says "List of Devices Attached" and then a line with some numbers and letters followed by "device" you are conneceted. If not go back a try reinstalling Android SDK.
Now with the bootanimation.zip file in the tools folder and command prompt pointing to the tools folder type "adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local". Make sure you put the spaces in or it won't work.
Restart your phone and you should see the new boot animation instead of the Sprint 4G one.

View 18 Replies View Relatedi installed jellyblast on my galaxy ace gt-s5830i, used it for couple of days and then restored cwm backup to stock rom. after about a week the phoen booted itself and got into bootloop. when i tried to wipe data got this mesaage : E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/stl11.
* i tried installing cwm backup
* i tried installing stock rom from samfirmware using odin with/without pit.
* i tried multiformatter for changing ext4 to rfs and then again tried unstalling stock rom and also custom roms.
* i tried wipe firmware package.
* phone enters in bootloop when i flash stock rom using odin and get stuck on boot when i install custom rom through cwm.
I was trying to install CyanogenMod, but now it wont boot. It's just boot with a 'circle'logo, and nothing happends.

I am not sure if this has already discussed, but I couldn't find the thread with the same issue, so I am posting this. This may be a bug, or may be a feature that is incomplete. I am using the Droid Incredible with OTA'ed froyo 2.2, with factory resetted. My wife's Droid Incredible with OTA'ed froyo 2.2 without resetted has exactly the same issue. This seems to happen from fundamental android OS layer directly, as it appears on both launchpro and Sense UI.
I don't remember if the phone showed the same option with OS 2.1, but after update, I noticed the strange second option has been appeared with some of my contacts. I tried to un-link those contacts (i.e. phone contacts, google contacts or twitter contacts, etc) to figure out which part is making this problem with no success. Does anybody have the same issue? When I click the problematic option icon, the pop-up window comes offering me a choice of action with different applications.
For those that keep flashing roms: Do you ever setup your layouts? Is that a way to load your shortcuts and widgets that you had after a wipe?

I believe the app Quick Settings added the [disabled] to the APN file when I attempted to use the Mobile Data Switch. See below. Now Quick Settings Says "No APN Configured". I've emailed the dev. If so, I will remove the [disabled] to restore the file to its original state. Everything seemed to be working fine despite the [disabled] setting though, but I didn't test MMS. Current (modified by Quick Settings?) APN File from my Verizon HTC Droid Incredible:

I used APN Backup & Restore to save the file to the SDCard so I could view and edit the file using a text editor (such as notepad) in windows. You can get APN Backup & Restore on the market for free.
Am I correct that the Ally has the same build as the Nexus One ERE27. So does anyone know how to get into the boot recovery menu to try and install the 2.2 update?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI should have just left it as it was out of the box..So after attempting to install a custom rom (4.4.2 Play edition)my s4 is stuck at the Samsung I9505 boot screen. I wiped the 'Dalvik cache' 'System' and 'cache' partitions in TWRP as I was following along with a Youtube video (that didn't work). When I tried to flash the custom ROM it automatically said failed. After giving up and turning on the phone I found that I'm stuck at this screen.
Have I bricked the phone? $550 could have gone down the drain just like that. I don't want to touch it without any advice and make everything worse. My only hope now is that I've managed to wipe the original software and it has nothing to boot from.
Why did the ROM install fail in the first place? I had it copied on the SD card. It was zip file.I can still access TWRP just fine and my SD shows up with the custom ROM still there, it's just whenever I hit install it fails in under a second.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been working on this phone from start to finish about 9 hours, over two days..I've Google just about every combination of words to do with the title and everything in between but nothing seems to come close to what i actually need to do as nothing works.
i have an LG Optimus 2x / p990, it had ICS on it but was far too slow to handle this, it needs something a bit less hardware intensive to run smoothly, so i went ahead an found cyanogenmod stable...7.2 i installed sdk after an hour of finding out how it works i finally got adb and fast boot working.
to cut a 9 hour story short, I've managed to get myself to the point where i wiped the phone of everything but CWM partitioned for ics via the AIO software but CWM will not let me install any ROM onto the phone. to be more precise it says i have installed CM 7.2 successfully! (I've tried this via the CWM via external SD card and side load) i reboot the phone it's as if I've never done a thing, no trace or suggestion I've even attempted it on the internal card... nothing
i'm at the point now where i'm quite happy to just have my phone back now and install ICS 404 but can't use the LG kdz install software as the pc doesn't see the phone as an LG p990 because it's recovery and i can only get it to come up as internal and external memory cards.
Can get my phone working will do, preferably the CM 7.2 if not back to ICS 404? i should have backed up but i had no idea it could be so complicated just to put an OS on a tiny computer. I've tried that exit recovery.zip thing and it did nothing :/

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my Desire on o2 have version 0.80 of the boot loader. I applied the defrost rom version 2.7 following this guide. Droid Den - Phone Guide: How To Install Rooted Android 2.2 On Your HTC Desire - Droid Den. It went through applying the ROM but now I just have it stuck on the o2 splash screen and going no further. Can't seem to find a backup.zip anywhere on my ROM and thought to back out the change. What's the best way to go? Re-flash again?
