Battery was at 24%. Talked for 10 Minutes. Now 18%. Really? 6 %. By that rate you can get 166.6 minutes of talk time. Does this sound right? No apps were running in the backround.

I'm watching the world cup on the ole droid incredible thought the univision website using skyfire and I know it's taking up lots of battery. I can use wifi or 3g where I am. does using the 3g antenna take up more or less battery than the wifi antenna when watching streaming video?

I am using the Y5 app and my phone connects to my router when I am home. I just checked the battery usage and Wifi was showing 22%. My up time is right around 27 hours. Does 22% sound a little high or is that good?

View 35 Replies View RelatedNew DINC owner here, I am somewhat questing if my battery is anygood on my new phone. I unplugged my phone with a 100% charge and the green light on. I made one 4 minute phone call and viewed 4 emails and in that 10 minutes my battery went from 100% to 90%.
Stats are:
Unplugged for 10m 22s
android system 92%
voice calls 4%
cell standby 2%
WiFi 2%
Just viewing the battery use screen brought my phone down to 88%. Is this draining to fast? I also noticed last night at work I walked in with a 100% charge, I played around online a good amount and looked at some apps. Within an hour my battery life was down to about 60%. I realize these phones use a lot of battery but this one seems to be losing it's charge in a real hurry, my Blackberry was no where near this bad.
I checked my battery usage and 33% is being used while Phone Idle and 36 while cell standby. Anyone know if this is normal or is my draining too much battery? BTW my Fiancee DL a Ping Pong app and played it once. I checked my battery to see what was using it, the ping pong app had drained 90%.

This is probably a really dumb question but my battery life info says that the android system is using 96% of my battery and standby and idle are both using only 2%. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Should my standby time be higher? Or is it better that it is a low number when it is idle/on standby. First smartphone ever here and I just don't know if that is good for my battery or not.

Yesterday, I went ALL DAY with normal usage (multiple texts, calendar appt reminders, a few brief calls with both wifi and bluetooth on constantly. My k-9 mail syncs with work e-mail every minute, and gmail wireless sync is on for two accounts) and I still had 81% battery remaining when I went to bed at 10:30 last night! I haven't shut it down yet just to see how far it will make it.Right now, my battery usage screen shows Up Time of 31:09 with Awake time of 4:16. I'm still showing 62% remaining battery!!!I'm wondering if one of the multiple automatic updates that occurred in the marketplace corrected a former battery hog (gmail maybe?)Anyone have any insight into this incredible improvement all of a sudden? I'm almost afraid to perform my usual overnight shut down and charge in case this is just a fluke occurrence.I'll post an update when I finally get a low battery warning to see how long she'll run on a single charge.

View 19 Replies View Relatedi picked up my inc just a while ago, and it felt a little warm. didn't really think anything of it. then i went to the market and hit download and found a bunch of apps were ready with updates, so i sent them all to update. while this was happening, my phone seemed to get warmer. so i checked the battery status on the pull down menu, and it was "Overheat/120.9F/3.731V" (this is what i wrote down; it was 118 when i first looked, then went up to 120). i checked the battery usage, and it was totally normal, nothing running high, nothing that it doesn't usually say (cell standby, android system, whatever). i freaked out, so i turned off the phone, and then i pulled the battery. the phone still feels hot but seems to maybe be cooling down a little. the battery is warm. there is a "hot" smell, too. i am FREAKING OUT. what do i do now? seriously, i'm afraid to put it back together.it's starting to cool down now. i'm using the htc 1500 battery i got from bidallies, it has been doing a really good job for the few days i've had it. oh, that's the other thing, the reason i decided to even check the battery on the pull down is because my battery seemed to suddenly drop over 10% while the market updates were downloading. like, it just really drained quick.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLast week I noticed that my battery lifetime decreased two folds. I used to be able to go by without charge for a good 24 hours if I used it moderately. Now all of a sudden my battery goes down 50% in less than 4 hours of same moderate use. I didn't install any new softwares, I tried closing running apps, I even installed task killer and tried using it to kill running on the back ground apps, but nothing helps (uninstalled task killer same result). What is wrong with this crap? I didn't root or did anything else different than two weeks ago... What a heck?
I know that 2.2 OTA release will help with the battery life (at least that is what they promise), but nobody knows when this release will be available and meanwhile I am suffering from dead battery in less than 8 hours of moderate use.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOk I've read a gazillion threads on battery life and 2.1 etc etc and you have me all waiting anxiously for an update and bigger batteries but what about actual talk time on the phone? didn't see any threads about that. Its not uncommon for my phone to be a toy all week then on the weekend catch up with some buds or family or whatever and yak on the thing for 2 hours straight. Will it hold? I know my old razer with an ext batt would go 4 hours talk time easy, glimmer would do 2.5 hrs easy with stock battery sometimes more. Pearl did well, haven't really talked the Storm out cause its my work phone and I tend to shun that thing on the weekends ....so let me know how long you've talked on it! Battery life does seem to stink but I can't put the damn thing down so I'm sure that has something to do with it and all my other smartphones sucked battery wise too the first week or so, so I'm not passing judgment yet, just want to know how long i can talk on the thing before it dies....I will do my own testing soon but would like some ideas.

The one that I found, the hard way after 3 straight days of only getting 10 hours of battery life, is the Google Talk service. I accidentally opened it and System Panel didn't kill it. I only found it by looking at Battery Uses>Running Services.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have been disturbed by how much battery it seems to use while it's sleeping. After much poking around and reading and using various system/battery/monitor apps in a non-methodical manner, I think I found it. I noticed that a process called 'compass' at /system/bin/akmd was persistent in utilization on my phone. While it only ever showed like 1-6% cpu utilization, it seemed to be showing it constantly. I uninstalled a 'compass' app I had DL'd from the market, but that had no effect.
With some searching, I found some threads over at XDA that discussed this process misbehaving in some recent builds, although the conversations didn't seem to be about the EVO. Nonetheless, I decided to disable the auto screen orientation (Menu -> Settings -> Sound & Display -> Display Settings/Orientation = unchecked) and lo and behold, I'm not sure the phone even uses battery in standby now! (exageration for effect...)
Now, this will require more testing, but it seems to be at the root of *my* battery issues. And I'm thinking after reading at XDA that this could be a broad problem. I'm also hopeful though, that this could be a relatively easy software fix for HTC/Google. Especially because I don't particularly find disabling the screen rotating an acceptable long term solution... but one I can live with for now, if it makes the HUGE battery gains it seems like it might.
I am running the 0.3 rom.. and there is no battery usage under about phone.. its there on the droid am i missing something? Also to make it more stange when you get down to 15% it gives my a low battery warning i can either say yes or view battery usage.. but cant seem to find it anywhere in the menus.

Would ask this on their IRC channel but I think they would lynch me :P The max stable I get is 748 was running it for like 10 mins :P (768 wont boot) Was running mostly 691 and now 614 . But dont know what will the difference in power consumption be. For example when playing with the phone and it will have to go to the 691 will it hold a lot less? Or its just a minor difference?

its now almost 5pm, on my third day and my battery still has a whopping 40% of battery life left.. so just wondering whether anyone else have this miraculous boost of battery life with android 2.2 or not.
I'm wondering what the best charging strategy is to get the battery working at its best. Let it run down to almost empty then fully charge each time or just keep topping it up when I'm near power?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was screwing around with battery usage today and here is what I found as the bottom line. Now this doesn't mean this is the same for you, but I'm sure you all know that. I changed nothing on the evo besides Gtalk automatically signing me in. (No skimping if you would) and I was at a golf club all day yesterday and had perfect signal strength. My EVO went 23hrs on one charge with decently heavy use. When I went back home (bad signal, 1 bar, no 3G) my phone's battery lasted just about 13hrs. Therefore I think TWS is one of the biggest battery culprits. Hence why if you complain to Sprint, they send you a free Air Ave like they did for me and many others.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI decided to do a little test with my Evo. Yesterday my battery drained out in 3 hrs at work with the Wifi off. Today I turned on my wifi at work and I got 7 hrs before recharging the battery. Weird I thought if Wifi is on it would drain the battery faster.
