Is there a good app that will analyze what percentage of battery my apps are using and tell me where my biggest drain is occuring? I seem to have a renegade app eating through my battery like Pac-Man.

I did some testing with the Navigator yesterday and I have to say it's absolutely awesome. I'm not sure if anyone has posted this, couldn't find any mention of it, but I want to share my battery usage experience with it as well as some other cool things I noticed.
Very cool battery saver:
I used it for a 15-minute drive, keeping it only in the Notification Bar. When you are in the Navigation app, you can press the Home softkey to go back to your home screen. This keeps Navigator working in the background, but it is not drawing the maps and using the screen. You can press the Power button to put your phone to sleep, and the voice actually still talks to you and tells you when to turn. And even better, I started this trip with 76% battery and ended with 76% battery.
Now, the not-so-cool.
I used it for a 30-minute drive, keeping the screen on and letting it show me the map the entire way. I started the drive with 54% battery ended with 34% battery. So definitely keep it on the charger if you are using it for a long drive. But another awesome thing I noticed. I made a phone call toward the end of my destination, just to see what would happen. I used the Home key to back out of the Navigator (but keeping it in the background, as I said above), then made my call as normal. The Navigator still gave me directions while I was on the phone. It came through the earpiece now, so the other person doesn't hear it. How freaking cool is that?

My Eris, just updated on Monday for the lock up from sleep Anyway, I am a low user of the phone and keep, wifi, Mobile data off unless I am using it I have noticed the last 2 days the battery life is improved. yesterday, phone on at 6am off at 11pm, 65% left, no data used, few Txt messages and about 45 min of phone calls Today so far, on at 6am, WIFI, Mobile data off, one 6min call and one txt, at 9am, still 100% battery. turned Mobile Data on at 9am now it is 11:50am and battery is still 100% my on time is 5:45, awake time is 8 min (2%) this is typical for me. I don't have email set to push, I refresh when I want it. I also use Advanced Task Manager. So maybe the issue that was fixed was also causing a battery drain and is fixed now?

I manually updated my Eris the other night and I must say I am happy with the update, it has really helped with my battery. What I have done is installed Battery Indicator by Darshan Computing. This puts a battery percentage indicator in the notifications area. I have set the built in timer for an hour and when it goes off I make a note of the battery in form of a percentage. Here is what I have so far.
Hour/Percentage of Battery Remaining
1/98
2/85
3/82
4/80
5/77
6-70

I have been disturbed by how much battery it seems to use while it's sleeping. After much poking around and reading and using various system/battery/monitor apps in a non-methodical manner, I think I found it. I noticed that a process called 'compass' at /system/bin/akmd was persistent in utilization on my phone. While it only ever showed like 1-6% cpu utilization, it seemed to be showing it constantly. I uninstalled a 'compass' app I had DL'd from the market, but that had no effect.
With some searching, I found some threads over at XDA that discussed this process misbehaving in some recent builds, although the conversations didn't seem to be about the EVO. Nonetheless, I decided to disable the auto screen orientation (Menu -> Settings -> Sound & Display -> Display Settings/Orientation = unchecked) and lo and behold, I'm not sure the phone even uses battery in standby now! (exageration for effect...)
Now, this will require more testing, but it seems to be at the root of *my* battery issues. And I'm thinking after reading at XDA that this could be a broad problem. I'm also hopeful though, that this could be a relatively easy software fix for HTC/Google. Especially because I don't particularly find disabling the screen rotating an acceptable long term solution... but one I can live with for now, if it makes the HUGE battery gains it seems like it might.

Soo running the froydvillain 1.4.4 tried different kernels. Would ask this on their IRC channel but I think they would lynch me :P The max stable I get is 748 was running it for like 10 mins :P (768 wont boot) Was running mostly 691 and now 614 . But dont know what will the difference in power consumption be. For example when playing with the phone and it will have to go to the 691 will it hold a lot less? Or its just a minor difference?

this thread directed at those that did not root or unlock their HTC desire but uses its original android.. before i go on, my standard usage is as follows, mostly sms using, a phone call or two, less than an hour of wifi browsing at night.. on android 2.1, my battery lasted roughly 2 days and a bit more.. after updating to android 2.2 via wifi through auto update on the phone. today was my third day after charging my phone to 100%.
its now almost 5pm, on my third day and my battery still has a whopping 40% of battery life left.. so just wondering whether anyone else have this miraculous boost of battery life with android 2.2 or not.

I'm wondering what the best charging strategy is to get the battery working at its best. Let it run down to almost empty then fully charge each time or just keep topping it up when I'm near power?

I was screwing around with battery usage today and here is what I found as the bottom line. Now this doesn't mean this is the same for you, but I'm sure you all know that. I changed nothing on the evo besides Gtalk automatically signing me in. (No skimping if you would) and I was at a golf club all day yesterday and had perfect signal strength. My EVO went 23hrs on one charge with decently heavy use. When I went back home (bad signal, 1 bar, no 3G) my phone's battery lasted just about 13hrs. Therefore I think TWS is one of the biggest battery culprits. Hence why if you complain to Sprint, they send you a free Air Ave like they did for me and many others.

I decided to do a little test with my Evo. Yesterday my battery drained out in 3 hrs at work with the Wifi off. Today I turned on my wifi at work and I got 7 hrs before recharging the battery. Weird I thought if Wifi is on it would drain the battery faster.

What is the best way to determine what is using my battery? I know I can go to Settings | About phone | Battery | Battery Use and see usage to a certain extent. But what if I want something more granular? Usually, the largest percentage of usage is by the Android System, is there a way to see which components may be using the most?

Is there any device (phone or tablet) running Android 4.0.x that can display the native battery usage data via Settings --> Battery , instead of displaying "Battery usage data not available" ?
It is supposed to display a list of apps and what % of the battery they consumed.

I propose that we all post our battery life graph like the one I am about to post below. This way we can look at these claims in scrutiny, and perhaps figure out why it is that some people's Evos seem to last longer than others. Here is a graph of my Evo's Battery Charge over 1 day:
Wake up at 7:30am to disconnect the charger, listen to Pandora on the car to work until I arrive at 8am. Idles until lunch time at 12pm. Use the Evo to read up on some news at lunch until 1:30pm. Listen to Pandora while working until 5pm. Drive home while listening to Pandora in the car. Battery starts giving warning indications while driving, and phone dies when I get home at 6pm. Very usual day, and matches what the battery charge graph shows. The top apps of the day are:
System Processes contains mediaserver (2.4% due to Pandora), akmd (0.3% accelerometer polling), and everything else is <0.1%. As you can see I barely used my phone during the day for anything but Pandora. So based on my data, I'd say that the normal battery life for the Evo is under 10 hours. My settings are: no 4g, no wifi, no bluetooth, yes gps, yes bckgrnd data, auto brightness, no live wallpaper, yes taskmanager (ATK, set to "safe" setting. Will probably get rid of this..), no friend stream, no flickr.
I'd love to see other people post up their Battery Usage graphs as well. The App used is "SystemPanel App / Task Manager", available for free in the market. Go into Settings and allow it to Monitor. The screenshots were made by ShootMe, also available in the market.

When hitting battery usage, would the LWP show up under display? I loaded in a new LWP from the market and checked battery usage and display was off the chart % wise compared to my normal use. And that was with some pretty decent phone activity. I disabled the LWP to check, but does anyone know if it will show here? Or anywhere?

Is there an app that shows what is using the battery? On my Droid it would actually show what was using the battery: Display, slacker, dolphin, live wallpapers, etc. On my X when I check battery usage the only thing it ever says is: display, cell standby, phone idle. It never shows live wallpaper, slacker, or anything else I run. I am wondering how much battery these other apps are using, particularly the live wallpaper. Any suggestions for a 3rd party app I can run for a couple days to see what is really using my battery.

Battery was at 24%. Talked for 10 Minutes. Now 18%. Really? 6 %. By that rate you can get 166.6 minutes of talk time. Does this sound right? No apps were running in the backround.

I've been searching all over this forum as well as the internet on how people are using their HERO and the battery performance they're getting out of it. I've seen answers from 9 hrs with heavy usage to 36 hours with minimual usage. That's about all the detail I've been able to find. (Maybe I'm just not good at searching?)With that, I decided to do a little tracking of my own. I logged my usage and battery performance over a 27 hour period and thought I'd share it with the community. Not sure if this is even helpful but maybe it'll provide some sort of baseline for others to compare against.I recorded the battery level in % based on the stock battery meter, the time I recorded the battery level and any activity that occured between the current time and the previous time recording. For example, between 7:00AM and 10:19AM the battery dropped by 10% and I had received 2 emails, 2 calendar reminders went off and I had surfed the web for about 10 minutes.

However, this simply has not been my experience at all, I get a couple of days out of my SGS whereas some others report only getting a day.
I just thought it would be interesting for us to post in here how much battery life we are getting for the amount of use we put the phone to.
There must be some sort of pattern.
My usage:
anywhere between 10 - 30 texts per day.
Several emails - sending and recieving.
a few phonecalls.
30 Minutes of gaming.
Twitter.
Live wallpaper running.
BBC News widget running and Weatherbug widget running.
I also listen to some music but this varies day by day.
3G and HSPDA are left on constantly as is my wireless.
GPS is turned off.
Thats my usage and i get at least a day and a half. Would be interesting to compare...

When my SD card is mounted in my Magic, the CPU usage is very high (90%+), the battery is very warm (34 degrees +) and it drains the battery very quickly (dead in 10 hrs with very min use).
When the SD card is unmounted or removed, the CPU usage drops to 10% or below, the phone is cool and the battery lasts very long.
Does anyone know the reason behind this and how it can be resolved?
I've reformatted the SD card and removed some of the media files not supported by my Magic but still have this issue.

We've all heard the horror stories (I just bought my Desire and the battery lasts for about 4 hours!) and the fanboy wankery (I get at least 3 days of heavy use!) So today I unplugged my Desire at about 6am and set off for work. It's 7pmish now and here's some stuff you may like to look at. I have 3G disabled, Sync on manual, no "live" widgets (just WiFi and bluetooth) live wallpaper (nexus) and screen brightness on auto. Here's the battery status (rounded up from 25% according to Battery Info in the Testing app)
The breakdown of usage:
My phone was idle for 9 hours and 45 mins:
The Display was on for a mere 2hours and 46 mins
With only 1.5 hours of WiFi:
And 30 mins of calls:
So, that'll be less than 3 hours of usage.

When you have the captivate plugged in and the battery is completely charged, does the phone then run completely off AC or does it continue to run off the battery and the AC just continually recharges it?

Here is a couple screens from my EVO. When it warns you to plug in the phone it also has a button to check usage that is built into the phone. Wish somone could build an app directly to this. As the battery was draining (almost dead) I left this screen up (waiting for it to die) total of 13hrs and 20+ min. It does not use any battery to check this. Look at how long it has been unplugged. The BT, Sprint Nav and Beautiful widgets never get killed by my task killer because these are a must for my job. I am a Professional Driver of 21 years and these are needed.

I'm having problems with my Droid Incredible battery not lasting a full day; even when I don't think I'm doing a lot. Maybe its the K9 Mail applications or my stock monitor, or some other application that is using a lot of power.
I got the System Panel application to help, but it doesn't see to give me a view of what application is using up the power.
