I just got my Inc and was going through the Gmail settings and saw a setting for "sync 4 days" and was wondering what that meant? Does it only keep 4 days of mail on my phone?

I go to settings from the icon, and there is no option to change my Data Sync options! It has totally disappeared. I'm running AOSP 1.6, but it was just there earlier today. I only did a Nandroid restore recently, but I can't think of anything I did to make it re-appear if it was already missing. Help!

Atleast by using the native app, I have it pull every hour during the week, and on the weekend its every 3hrs. But this seems to constantly be pulling the mailbox, is there a way to change it? I'm just trying to maximize battery (Its alot better after 2 weeks of use, just fine tuning)

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing Eclipse 3.5.2, SDK Platform Android 2.2, API 8, revision 2 In Settings --> Accounts & Sync --> Add Account I do not have the option to add anything but an Exchange Account in the emulator. I should be able to add a gmail account. Am I being stupid or is there a problem with the emulator?
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe "automatic" brightness setting sucks. It doesn't detect high light situations, like being outdoors. To get the proper brightness you need to use the power control widget to set the brightness up to see it in sunlight. Not a big deal, but after using the widget you either have to manually reset it to automatic in the settings, turn the brightness off or on high. Its just kind of annoying. When your in sunlight without the brightness up to the highest level I can see nothing on the phone. Literally the screen appears to be off. Is this just my phone, or does the incredible really not sense high light situations.

My old phone (LG Dare) had an option to auto-answer the call after the second call, not sure if there's an option for this (I tried looking under advanced bluetooth settings).
View 1 Replies View Relatedim not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
Is there a way to access the settings for gmail email accounts? I want to do a factory reset, but want to look at the settings in my gmail accounts before I do it for reference. Looking to get the POP/SMTP settings, etc.

View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my old droid eris there was an option to "delete mail on server" in my email settings. the inc doesn't have this option.. it is quite annoying that every time i get on my actual computer i have to then go in to my email and delete those emails that i have already deleted on my phone. anyone else hate this problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my original gmail account "slaved" to my google apps account, so when I log in to user@gmail.com it displays my google apps user@domain.com as being logged in. For most things this is great, but now with the android phone there are some gotchya's First was the Market. I had to create yet another gmail account to buy anything off the market, because when I sign in to my 'gmail' account on my phone it signs me in as an apps user.
Second, is my google voice (attached to gmail) has its own set of contacts associated with my gmail account, and they are not synced with my google apps account. I was hoping the phone would sort of mesh them together, however I'm not seeing that. On my iPhone I was using soocial, however they recently stopped allowing unlimited contacts and their new free limit is below my number of contacts. Is there a way for the phone to keep these to contact lists "connected" and synced together?
I did a quick search and didn't find anything, so I am hoping someone can help out. Currently, I can only choose between 1 day or 3 days for downloading past e-mails on my active-sync account. This is really inconvenient since it is a work account and I would like to have access to 30 days worth of email. Does anyone know of a way to increase the days for downloading past email beyond the factory settings?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI go into my GMail account and add pictures, using the tool on the site. I check my phone, and some show up. Others don't. I wait a while... still no go. I go into the settings and force a sync. Still no love.
So, some pictures show up on the phone, and others do not. Should I wait a few hours or something? Is there some pictures that will work in GMail, but the phone rejects? I'm not all broken up over this, but it sure is inconvenient.
I'm currently trying to back up my contacts for when (if) we ever get root. And for some reason, even after I sync and all that fun stuff, the phone contacts don't update when I go to my GMail account. How in the world do I get them to update there?

I turned off the notification when I went to sleep so I wouldn't wake me up every 10 minutes. Now the Gmail has to be manually refreshed. How do I get the phone to auto sync with gmail again?

I installed advanced task killer and could find the disable button in few apps by force stop detail option in advanced task killer and disabled maps and few other. Webkey and VNC both use network connections to access my phone, and androidscreencast did not work for me. (I have a rooted droid 4, but it did not give me any mouse or keyboard functionality like it was supposed to.
I posted this in the 2.2 thread but it seems to have been overlooked so I will ask here instead. The option to allow the phone to backup automatically to SD card in Settings > Privacy have gone, does anyone know where the setting is now or even if a backup option is even available in froyo 2.2, because i can't find it anywhere even after a factory reset.
