HTC Incredible :: Venison Extended Battery
Jul 29, 2010My dilemma is not with Android, but the Dinc. I absolutely love Android and will definitely be staying on Verizon and with a Droid phone. I have, however, had the Incredible since launch day. I love pretty much everything about this phone, except the battery life. I really cannot stand the constant need to be near a charger for fear of my phone dying. Should I buy the Verizon extended battery for another $60 and deal w the clunky bulk or get the Droid X or Samsung Fascinate. I think i can get a good price for this phone on eBay w it being an original in mint condition and there still a shortage. What should I do? Is it too early to go for the Samsung? I will miss HTC Sense.

What's the best way to combine contact info from My Verizon/Backup Assistant and contacts in Gmail? Should I start manually combining names, numbers, addresses, and emails in My Verizon? Is Gmail better at syncing and management or can all this be done in the phone with People? What about groups? Will those translate if I set up groups in Gmail and/or My Verizon?

Feb 24, 2010I'm looking for an app that allows me to have more than 5 screens on my nexus one. Currently I have home++ but it doesn't allow for live wallpapers and the app selection is really outdated looking imo. I tried launcher++ but it too had the app selection ugliness.
What i really want is a home replacement that mimics the normal launcher on 2.1 but has extra screens. I don't need anything fancy, i just want more screens and perhaps an infinity scroll feature. is there anything like that? even a custom rom maybe? does cyanogen offer more screens?

Oct 30, 2010When I choose to reply to an email(or anytime I use the keyboard), Espanol appears in the Spacebar position. Yes, the spacebar still works but the the suggested words appear in Spanish as I key letters in. I checked and rechecked English in the Language/Keyboard option in Settings but it will not go back to English. This started a few days ago and I do not know why?

Jun 21, 2010New EVO/Android user here, but I'm pretty tech savvy. I recognize that the HTC EVO doesn't have the "Sync Groups" option on some other HTC Sense phones, where you can sync specific contact groups from Gmail.So from my research in this issue, it is the "My Contacts" group that gets synced over to phones, yes?Provided this is all correct, here's my issue:When I set up my phone it originally synced all 100+ contacts in my "My Contacts" group.Once I did the research & understood how this worked, I went back into Gmail and audited my contacts.Now I only have about 20 users in the My Contacts group the users I want to show up on my phone.However, now that I'm running a Sync on my EVO, the 100+ contacts are not reducing down to the 20 that I selected for the "My Contacts" group.In short, it doesn't appear to be genuinely syncing the group changes that I made on the Gmail web client.
Can anyone advise me what I need to do? Shouldn't the syncing be two-way, as in any changes I make to my contacts on Gmail be showing up on the phone?Little stuck here... hoping it's an easy fix. I do not want to have to run a contact remover application if possible, because that's indicative that there's not a genuine sync something I really hope should be taking place!

Sep 23, 2010i have looked through the forums and can't really find what i'm looking for.If somebody knows that its posted some where that would be great! If not, how much can you delete of your sdcard without screwing up the phone? I have gone into root explorer and looked at all thats on it, some of it I don't even know why it's there so that makes me a little worried to delete.

Sep 14, 2010I was just browsing my SD card on my computer last night and realized that there is a lot of folders/files left over from programs I uninstalled a long time ago. Has anyone just gone in there and deleted them? I am actually pretty surprised about how much stuff was left over. I guess the unistall is like windows where it doesn't always get everything.

Oct 28, 2009So I expected this as I have friends with iPhones and I see it on their phones. Smudges! I hate smudges! So normally I just wipe it clean with a microfiber and it looks pretty good, however that does not always remove all the oils caught on the screen. I would think that over time, the oils sitting on the screen will end up degrading the screen or make it look nasty later on. I am wanting to clean it and not sure what to use. I have a cleaning kit we use on the document scanners at work. It has microfiber pads and a cleaning chemical which after reading the ingredients is just isopropyl rubbing alcohol.I heard the HTC Hero has a special coating on it that keeps it resistant to scratches and makes smudges easier to clean. My concern is that the isopropyl alcohol will beat up that coating.So after beating around the bush...the question is, what is the best way to do a good deep cleaning of the screen?

Android :: Cleaning An Image Cache Directory On SD Card?
Apr 1, 2010I've got an app that is heavily based on remote images. They are usually displayed alongside some data in a ListView. A lot of these images are new, and a lot of the old ones will never be seen again.
I'm currently storing all of these images on the SD card in a custom cache directory (ala evancharlton's magnatune app).
I noticed that after about 10 days, the directory totals ~30MB. This is quite a bit more than I expected, and it leads me to believe that I need to come up with a good solution for cleaning out old files... and I just can't think of a great one. Maybe you can help. These are the ideas that I've had:
Delete old files. When the app starts, start a background thread, and delete all files older than X days. This seems to pose a problem, though, in that, if the user actively uses the app, this could make the device sluggish if there are hundreds of files to delete. After creating the files on the SD card, call new
File("/path/to/file").deleteOnExit(); This will cause all files to be deleted when the VM exits (I don't even know if this method works on Android). This is acceptable, because, even though the files need to be cached for the session, they don't need to be cached for the next session. It seems like this will also slow the device down if there are a lot of files to be deleted when the VM exits. Delete old files, up to a max number of files. Same as #1, but only delete N number of files at a time. I don't really like this idea, and if the user was very active, it may never be able to catch up and keep the cache directory clean.
General :: Total Reset / Super Cleaning - LG Optimus L7
Feb 4, 2013Few questions on Android because I want to do a "super cleaning" on my mobile. I have an LG Optimus L7 P705g , not sure how it's called elsewhere.
I have rooted my device about a month ago and downloaded Avast + installed Avast AntiTheft, only that when the installation finished I didn't said it was installed so idk what happened there.
1) How can I be sure if the AntiTheft is installed or not?
2) When installing root apps and regular apps, how can you notice? I mean, can I install a root app and not be aware of it?
3) If i do a Hard reset the root apps stay on the phone? In that case which "Root uninstaller" would you recommend ?
4) Doing hard reset is bad for the device?
5) I rooted my phone with SuperSU by ChainFire, to start my mobile from 0 I have to go to the SuperSU app tap "unroot" and then do the hard reset?
All in all what I want to do is to have my device as new. Without any trace of all this time I've been using it.
Motorola Droid X :: Venison VCast Media Manager - 32bit Only
Aug 18, 2010I downloaded the Motorola USB connection driver and now when I connect my phone it automatically opens V-Cast media manager via the computer browser. Only problem the site works with 32-bit OS only and mine is 64. So, how do I get the computer to recognize my device so I can access the media? It doesn't do the "view files on this device" and doesn't show the phone under 'computer'. EDIT: Set phone to 'PC-Mode' and driver will eventually load, causing a computer restart and then the device shows on the computer.
Another problem: I can access the phone files now but it says there are no pictures or videos on the device and there certainly are? Trying Windows media sync mode now. This shit is screwy! Well, that worked. OMG what a pain in the ass with the USB settings!

Dec 24, 2009Anyone know if there is an app (or PC program) that will scan the SD card and determine what folders are no longer needed that are left over from uninstalled apps? I have installed/uninstalled tons of apps and I still see folders on the SD card from apps I know that I no longer have. I have deleted the ones I know are safe to remove but there are some with names that are a little less descriptive of what they were for. I know I could just google each folder name and probably figure each one out individually but I thought there might be an app for it.

HTC Incredible :: Poor Incredible Sound Quality - Poor Verizon Customer Service
May 26, 2010I (like hundreds of others) have had a call quality problem with the two Droid Incredibles I purchased for my wife and myself when they were released on April 30th. Verizon recognized that there was a problem and replaced both devices with ones manufactured about a month later (5/02) and the same issue with poor voice quality continued.
We love the device EXCEPT for the lack of ability to understand callers. So, I asked Verizon to extend our 30-day opt out to give them an opportunity to work out the issues with this device. I just received a call from Verizon customer service (which I could barely understand) and was told they would not extend the 30 day period and my option was to live with the poor sound quality or switch to another device. Verizon has no other devices that were interested in at this time so well be canceling these two lines (and one other) and returning to T-Mobile. T-Mobile may not have the best coverage, but they do have great customer service, unlike Verizon.
HTC Incredible :: No Data Service After Froyo
Aug 31, 2010I updated to Froyo this morning.I noticed I wasn't getting any data service on my phone so I ran the *228 thing. Phone rebooted and problem was solved.Sort off.I turned the phone off at lunch 'cuz I wanted to see the awesome boot animation. When the phone turned back on, there was no data service. I've now found that if I do the *228 thing it fixes the problem, but only until I reboot again. I've gone into the wireless and network settings and Mobile Network is checked and stuck at turning on. Do I need to do a factory reset to fix this? I've got a back up with My Backup Pro so it's not a huge deal if I do.
