View 40 RepliesI'm not sure why, but the weather widget says that my city doesn't exist. I want to put it to Apple Valley, CA but nothing comes up. I checked the 3 nearest cities and they all did not exist either (Victorville, Hesperia, and Barstow). Can anyone else try adding the city to theirs and see if it pops up for them? I wonder if it's a bug with mine.
View 15 Replies View RelatedPersonally, I like City ID. I like knowing where unknown numbers are calling from. BUT the current ROM I installed has it removed. Does anyone have the apk file so I can reinstall it? I am running the new 2.2 leak.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there an app that is similar to City ID thats available on the Market (that's free)?
Although its really just an added luxury of seeing what the originating area of the call is, I wouldn't mind having it.
My Dinc shows Memphis on the Clock/Weather on the home screen.I am in South Florida.I have only had the Dinc for 2 days now, at first it was showing the correct city or a close neighbor, now it is not.How can I get this changed? It has also changed the time to Central time vs Eastern.I do know enough about the phone yet to know where to make the change.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running a customer Jager ROM and it is great, however I am unable to uninstall some included programs from the ROM? Is this normal? Since being rooted, I thought there was a way to uninstall any program from the phone? For example K-9 mail and mobile defense are built into the ROM. When I try to uninstall them, the option to uninstall them is grayed out? Any way at all to uninstall these programs directly from the phone itself? Any root apps that can make this happen?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Facebook for Android the other day. The update seemed to wreak havoc on my phone so I uninstalled the update. I can't, however, seem to uninstall the Facebook for Android. I just want to go back to Facebook for HTC Sense, since my phone was problem-free before I installed the Android version.
I tried "Manage Applications" and AppBrain. Neither will let me uninstall.
They are always running, I dont use them !! How do i remove them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to kill some apps, like calculator, that I have replaced and don't want. Here are the commands (in both Terminal and ADB): su
# rm /system/app/Calculator.apk
rm: remove '/system/app/Calculator.apk'?y
rm: can't remove '/system/app/Calculator.apk': Read-only file system #
Notice the "su" command. It shouldn't be read-only. I really want to unclutter my app drawer. The build is Cyanogen Mod-6-07252010-NIGHTLY-Inc.
so i have aps that keep popping up over and over again. i cant even uninstall some of them (skype). is there anyway to uninstall this crap. i cant stand stuff running in the backround
View 4 Replies View RelatedSearched all over the forums and internet for an answer but came up blank.I downloaded an app called power control and installed it. It screwed up my contact list so I wanted to uninstall it. Not just remove it from my desktop, but full uninstall is what I'm after.Did a search for it in the android market and could not find it anywhere again to uninstall it that way. Tried using Astro File Manager to uninstall but does not show up there. The only place it shows up on my phone is in the bottom menu bar ( menu, phone, + ) I hit + -----> widgets ------> power control. Anybody have an ideas on how to uninstall this thing ?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was using Cyanogen 6.0.2 but it was rebooting randomly so I switched to Ruby 1.1.1. Instead of letting everything come in from my backups on Google's servers, I only restored a small number of apps and have been running it today with minimal applications running. Lo and behold, I just got my first random reboot. It must be some application that I'm running, but since I can't trigger it I can't exactly uninstall 1 app at a time.
I'm very comfortable in the command line (I do it in my job); is there a log somewhere I can read that would list what's happening? I'm not running any special kernels, but I'm starting to wonder if the phone's rebooting due to a kernel panic. Is there a log I can view this kind of information somewhere?
Just curious. If I am using a deodexed ROM and uninstall a "stock" app with Titanium, is the end result of less bloatware etc any different than using mv to apps.disabled via ADB?
I have started using Titanium for its simplicity and not needing to connect to my PC but I want to use whatever is best.
I successfully rooted the phone. My main reason (initially) is so I can delete some of the bloatware that came with it. I've looked through some of the threads that talk about how to uninstall some of this stuff, and I'm at a loss. Is there any way someone can explain how to uninstall bloatware applications in noobtard terms? I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance from your friendly neighborhood noob. For the record, I'm technically savvy, I've just never done this before and don't really know where to begin.

View 7 Replies View RelatedGoogle's Latitude is in my app drawer, but I cannot find it to remove it in System > Apps nor through Titanium backup. Is this because it's integrated into Maps and only has the app drawer shortcut for ease of access (like Places, Nav, etc.)? Any way to remove this "feature" or to at least remove the shortcut from the app launcher? (I'm not confident enough to run things from a pc command line - don't even know what tools I'd need on my pc to get to that stage either so a way for noobs would be preferred)
View 1 Replies View RelatedWith all of the questions and threads regarding battery usage, life and monitoring, I thought this might be a good time to share my thoughts of what has helped me *deal* with this issue.
I want to preface this by saying that:
-Yes, the stock battery supplied with our phones is probably inadequate.
-Yes, having to buy a better battery after purchasing a "Tier One Phone" sucks.
-Yes, usage is subjective and dynamic and one persons heavy usage is another persons light usage.
-No, this will not address extremely short battery life (other problems are causing that)
-No, this will not account for the phone seemingly giving a false 100% indication.
-No, this will not help anything but your psyche
That said, I think we (myself included and maybe the most guilty) are putting too much emphasis on what our battery widgets and indicators are telling us. The blessing/curse of our phones is that they report battery life in 1% increments which is great for keeping accurate battery life information, but its not great for our sanity. Think about that logically for a moment!
Here is my experiment for anyone who obsesses over battery life but can make it through a day with no worries of their battery dying!
1) Next time you fully charge your battery, after you remove it from the charger, keep an eye on the widget as it drops down to between 95% - 90% and then take notice of your default battery indicator. It will still look fully charged! Do this for a day or two if you want!
2) When you are satisfied that what I'm telling you is reality, uninstall your battery monitoring widget or app and just go about your day as usual for about a week.
I am willing to bet that those of you like me, who actually have respectable battery life but still obsess over it, will not go back to what I call "percentile battery monitoring". Of course their will be exceptions as some people just need that number, but I really believe this may help some people get over their battery monitoring obsession!
I got fed up of waiting and decided to root. I decided to go with 3rd wave 2.2 and everything went smooth. Now my question is if I want to try other Roms do I need to do anything special or just download to the SD card and repeat the same drill. Or do I need to do a recovery and or uninstall wave prior to installing a new rom?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWell I'm a newbie dinc user and I love this phone! But I hav some issues tht I hav to solve or I'll hav to get the Droid x or Droid 2 when it comes out next week.
I'm getting terrible signal. Everybody around me is getting like full bars and I barely have 1 maybe 2. Is there anything i can do to help this?
2nd is how do I uninstall the stock apps like cityid and fm radio? So maybe tht will help the pathetic battery life. And also which is the best extended battery to get both the same size and the larger, like what brands?

I was wondering if someone could post the "city" wallpaper that comes stock on the Captivate? Or, it may be easier if you could PM it to me. I looked everywhere and could not find it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone use the city ID feature that came with your droid X? I like how it shows the city that the call is coming from.
It is free for I think the first 30 days. After which to keep using it you will need to pay 1.99 per month.
Anyone know of a free app that would do the same thing? 1.99 a month is pretty ridiculous for what it does.
how to get Latitude and Longitude of the given Name of the City or Address?Suppose, I enter Delhi, then It should return latitude or Longitude of it.
