HTC Incredible :: Can't Uninstall

Jun 27, 2010

I am running a customer Jager ROM and it is great, however I am unable to uninstall some included programs from the ROM? Is this normal? Since being rooted, I thought there was a way to uninstall any program from the phone? For example K-9 mail and mobile defense are built into the ROM. When I try to uninstall them, the option to uninstall them is grayed out? Any way at all to uninstall these programs directly from the phone itself? Any root apps that can make this happen?

HTC Incredible :: Uninstall Facebook For Droid?

Aug 6, 2010

I installed Facebook for Android the other day. The update seemed to wreak havoc on my phone so I uninstalled the update. I can't, however, seem to uninstall the Facebook for Android. I just want to go back to Facebook for HTC Sense, since my phone was problem-free before I installed the Android version.

I tried "Manage Applications" and AppBrain. Neither will let me uninstall.

HTC Incredible :: Uninstall Stock Apps On Cyanogen Mod 6

Jul 25, 2010

I want to kill some apps, like calculator, that I have replaced and don't want. Here are the commands (in both Terminal and ADB): su
# rm /system/app/Calculator.apk
rm: remove '/system/app/Calculator.apk'?y
rm: can't remove '/system/app/Calculator.apk': Read-only file system #
Notice the "su" command. It shouldn't be read-only. I really want to unclutter my app drawer. The build is Cyanogen Mod-6-07252010-NIGHTLY-Inc.

HTC Incredible :: How Do You Uninstall Power Control Widget?

May 5, 2010

Searched all over the forums and internet for an answer but came up blank.I downloaded an app called power control and installed it. It screwed up my contact list so I wanted to uninstall it. Not just remove it from my desktop, but full uninstall is what I'm after.Did a search for it in the android market and could not find it anywhere again to uninstall it that way. Tried using Astro File Manager to uninstall but does not show up there. The only place it shows up on my phone is in the bottom menu bar ( menu, phone, + ) I hit + -----> widgets ------> power control. Anybody have an ideas on how to uninstall this thing ?

HTC Incredible :: What's Causing Reboots / Can't Exactly Uninstall 1 App At A Time

Sep 10, 2010

I was using Cyanogen 6.0.2 but it was rebooting randomly so I switched to Ruby 1.1.1. Instead of letting everything come in from my backups on Google's servers, I only restored a small number of apps and have been running it today with minimal applications running. Lo and behold, I just got my first random reboot. It must be some application that I'm running, but since I can't trigger it I can't exactly uninstall 1 app at a time.

I'm very comfortable in the command line (I do it in my job); is there a log somewhere I can read that would list what's happening? I'm not running any special kernels, but I'm starting to wonder if the phone's rebooting due to a kernel panic. Is there a log I can view this kind of information somewhere?

I've looked through some of the threads that talk about how to uninstall some of this stuff, and I'm at a loss. Is there any way someone can explain how to uninstall bloatware applications in noobtard terms? I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance from your friendly neighborhood noob. HTC Incredible :: Can't Uninstall Latitude On Rooted Dinc / Sort This?

Oct 7, 2010

Google's Latitude is in my app drawer, but I cannot find it to remove it in System > Apps nor through Titanium backup. Is this because it's integrated into Maps and only has the app drawer shortcut for ease of access (like Places, Nav, etc.)? Any way to remove this "feature" or to at least remove the shortcut from the app launcher? (I'm not confident enough to run things from a pc command line - don't even know what tools I'd need on my pc to get to that stage either so a way for noobs would be preferred)

HTC Incredible :: Battery Tips And Tricks - Uninstall Monitoring Widget

Jun 22, 2010

With all of the questions and threads regarding battery usage, life and monitoring, I thought this might be a good time to share my thoughts of what has helped me *deal* with this issue.

I want to preface this by saying that:

-Yes, the stock battery supplied with our phones is probably inadequate.
-Yes, having to buy a better battery after purchasing a "Tier One Phone" sucks.
-Yes, usage is subjective and dynamic and one persons heavy usage is another persons light usage.
-No, this will not address extremely short battery life (other problems are causing that)
-No, this will not account for the phone seemingly giving a false 100% indication.
-No, this will not help anything but your psyche

That said, I think we (myself included and maybe the most guilty) are putting too much emphasis on what our battery widgets and indicators are telling us. The blessing/curse of our phones is that they report battery life in 1% increments which is great for keeping accurate battery life information, but its not great for our sanity. Think about that logically for a moment!

Here is my experiment for anyone who obsesses over battery life but can make it through a day with no worries of their battery dying!

1) Next time you fully charge your battery, after you remove it from the charger, keep an eye on the widget as it drops down to between 95% - 90% and then take notice of your default battery indicator. It will still look fully charged! Do this for a day or two if you want!

2) When you are satisfied that what I'm telling you is reality, uninstall your battery monitoring widget or app and just go about your day as usual for about a week.

I am willing to bet that those of you like me, who actually have respectable battery life but still obsess over it, will not go back to what I call "percentile battery monitoring". Of course their will be exceptions as some people just need that number, but I really believe this may help some people get over their battery monitoring obsession!

When I go to appbrain and try to uninstall it says, "uninstall not successful".

I tried using the quickuninstall app (as suggested in another thread) but get the same "uninstall not successful" message.

HTC EVO 4G :: Way To Uninstall Bloatware?

May 26, 2010

It seems to be common practice for service providers to bog down their newest phones with bloatware. I've read some information on these forums that seems to indicate that the Evo comes with a lot of sprint programs installed, IE bloatware. I'm a current blackberry user and one of the perks of having one is that I was able to remove all of tmobiles useless, bloatware apps from day one so I could use the phone's memory on programs that I wanted. Now, my question is, is there is a simple uninstall feature that would allow me to unistall programs like sprint tv, sprint nav, etc? Or would I have to root the phone to be able to uninstall those apps?

HTC Hero :: Which Apps Best To Uninstall?

Jan 7, 2010

I introduced myself as a "digital dog" barking for "Apps! And so I quickly filled my Hero until getting a notice saying it's too full with only 15MB left. Trouble is, I'd like to add even more. So is there a way to make room in my phone (not my SD card) other than uninstalling? I don't think it's possible to move apps to my spacious card and link them, right? I'm still going through the apps to see which ones work and fit into my life, and don't want to uninstall any just yet. Is there another way?
