HTC Incredible :: Rooted - Recovery Or Uninstall Wave Prior To Installing New Rom?

Aug 20, 2010

I got fed up of waiting and decided to root. I decided to go with 3rd wave 2.2 and everything went smooth. Now my question is if I want to try other Roms do I need to do anything special or just download to the SD card and repeat the same drill. Or do I need to do a recovery and or uninstall wave prior to installing a new rom?

HTC Incredible :: Rooted - recovery or uninstall wave prior to installing new rom?

General :: Customizing CyanogenMod 10.2 Prior To Installing

Nov 25, 2013

there are a bunch of prebundled apps that come with cyanogen I'd like to remove & replace (listed below); is it as simple as removing them from the .zip and adding the ones I want? Also the apps I want to add, can I also include their backup data from the /data folder or does that have to be done after? I think its just as simple as, extracting the zip files, removing the apks, and adding the ones I want, then repacking the zip?

Replace:

- Apollo with Poweramp
- Trebeck (or w/e it is) with Nova Prime
- AOSP Keyboard with SwiftKeyboard
- a custom kernel (just copy/replace the kernel zips files with whatever comes in cyanogens zip?)
- some others, but you get the gist

Remove:

- DSP Manager
- Exchange Services
- Email
- News & Weather
- some others (I know about the list(s) of safe apps to delete [1][2])

Add:

- Fonts
- Apps that I always install on a fresh install (Titanium Backup, Busybox, ROM Toolbox, etc)

I know about This Thread explaining how to build your own ROM, but I feel like that is more complicated process for (what seems simple) what I want to do.

Android :: Best Apps To Back Up Phone Prior To Installing New ROM Or Upgrade

Jul 29, 2010

What's the best way to back up Android phones prior to a complete wipe / re-install of new OS? (back up of sms, apps, data for apps, call log, etc etc...) Early this year it was My Backup, and Astro File manager I believe. Is there something newer or better these days?

HTC Incredible :: Can't Uninstall Latitude On Rooted Dinc / Sort This?

Oct 7, 2010

Google's Latitude is in my app drawer, but I cannot find it to remove it in System > Apps nor through Titanium backup. Is this because it's integrated into Maps and only has the app drawer shortcut for ease of access (like Places, Nav, etc.)? Any way to remove this "feature" or to at least remove the shortcut from the app launcher? (I'm not confident enough to run things from a pc command line - don't even know what tools I'd need on my pc to get to that stage either so a way for noobs would be preferred)

HTC Incredible :: System Update Not Installing (Rooted)

Nov 23, 2010

My Incredible is rooted. For the past few days I've received a notification that a system update will be installed and the phone will reboot. Nothing happens, no reboot and no evident change. Now that the phone is rooted do I need to apply updates manually? Should I take the Verizon updates at all? (The only specific change mentioned in (more info" for this update is the addition of an app called "Slacker").

HTC EVO 4G :: Wave Secure On Rooted EVO?

Nov 8, 2010

I have been running Wave secure since I had my Hero and from day one with the EVO as well. The remote tracking feature does not work well without having your GPS enabled. Without root, there is no way to turn the GPS on remotely. Now with root access, you can simply push the .apk file to the system/apps directory and Wave secure will install. Now when you log into your Wave secure portal and track, the GPS turns on. This will be great if you ever lose your phone. I tested it and it works flawlessly. Also, Wave secure says that you can make the software hard reset proof by installing in the system directory. I did not test this. Below are instructions on how to do both if you are interested. https://www.wavesecure.com/blog/how-to-make-wavesecure-hard-reset-proof.aspx

HTC Hero :: Wave Secure Wiped Clean / All Apps Need Re-installing?

Jan 26, 2010

Just a quick question. When 2.1 is finally released, my Hero will be wiped clean and all apps will need re-installing, do you think, as the free for life wave secure offer will be over, they will want payment next time or is it a simple case of re-installing under the old terms? Hopefully this makes sense. You can probably tell I am quite new to all this!

HTC Incredible :: Just Rooted And Having Error With Recovery

Oct 28, 2010

I recently got a new droid incredible (my first phone besides the crapy razer) and my friends told me to root it. I used the guides on these fourms, rooted it, and apparently it worked (I have superuser and can download root only apps). The only problem is that everywere, it says recover once you root. Every time I've tried this, it just leads to a black screen with two white lights on each side. I've tried everything to fix it; I've looked at multiple threads and youtube vids, I even found an app that should sent it into Clockwork recovery mod, but even then it still had the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this, or should I just try un-rooting it (maby I did something wrong and it dosent say) and re-rooting it again?

HTC Incredible :: Load Boot Animations Without Being In Recovery - Must Be Rooted

Jul 18, 2010

I was messing around with root explorer and noticed that i was able to delete my boot animation with it when i was mounted as R/W so i thought i would try to copy one and it also works... so no need to push with adb shell.. here are the steps

1. take the boot animation make sure it is named bootanimation.zip and copy it to your SD card

2. then open root explore and mount R/W and then navigate to the file and press on file till the menu comes up and select copy

3. then navigate to data/local and paste the file in the local directory
and you are done, this can be done with the android_audio.mp3 file as well just paste it to the same place.

just thought this would make it easier for people instead of using adb shell

HTC Incredible :: MicroSD Prior To Plugging In?

Apr 15, 2010

prior to destroying it, I will be taking out the battery and other things I might need. One thing that will be useful until I get something of a larger size nature is the 8GB MicroSD card that came with the BlackBerry Storm One. What I need to know is if there is something I should do like reformat it prior to sticking it in the HTC Droid Incredible. I do not have an adapter to plug it into my laptop, but there might be a way to clear it out from the BlackBerry. I just don't want to "infect" my new phone with the crappiness that is my BBS1 phone.

HTC Incredible :: Bug With Sense UI Date Selector - Dates Show Up As 1 Day Prior

May 10, 2010

Does anyone else have this issue when setting dates in the calendar or with contacts?

When I set a date, Sense UI brings up a date scroller wheel, where I use a virtual wheel to select Month, Day, and Year. After setting the desired date, I hit OK, and I'm brought back to the previous screen (calendar or contact I'm setting a date for). The field then shows the date I set as being 1 day prior to the date I picked. However, when I save and come back, the date is fine.

Wish I could take a screen shot to make this easier to explain. Not a massive issue, but it gets confusing sometimes since I think I selected the wrong day.

Android : How To Uninstall Trial App When Installing Paid App?

Feb 25, 2009

Is there a way to detect upon install or first use, if another app (in this case, the trial version of the same app from the same developer with the same key but different package name) is still installed? If yes, then the next question is can one app uninstall another with the same key, if the user gives the go ahead? In my case, the app has a listener for some events, and I don't want the trial AND the full copy both firing up on those events.

HTC EVO 4G :: Installing ROM - How To Reboot In Recovery Mode?

Sep 18, 2010

I'm really lost right now. First I did this-
xda-developers - View Single Post - [GUIDE] How to root Android 2.2 on the EVO 4G
Which I believe is rooting for my phone since it was 2.2 when I first received it. Now I have this.

Android version
2.2
Baseband version
2.15.00.07.28
Kernal version
2.6.32.15-g746f4f0
htc-kernal@and18-2 #58
Build number
3.26.651.6 CL218634 release-keys
Software number
3.26.651.6
Browser version
WebKit 3.1
PRI Version
1.40_003
PRL Version
60670

Now I'm trying to install Fresh 3.2.00 from
[ROM] 9/3/10 | Fresh Evo 3.2.0.0 | New OTA Base + New Stagefright + New HTC Kernel - xda-developers
I have ROM Manager installed and Flash ClockworkMod Recovery done. I already put the fresh-evo-3.2.0.0.zip into the SD card. Tried Installing ROM from SD card, checking Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache and it asks me to reboot into recovery. Here's the problem, it restarts and just stays on the white screen with the htc EVO 4G logo.

HTC Desire : Rooted - But Have No Interest In Installing A Custom Rom

Jul 26, 2010

yesterday i rooted my desire but i have no interest in installing a custom rom. all i want to install is apps2sd or apps2sd +i have read many guides but most of them conflict each other.if i was to follow these steps what would be wiped from the phone.

Using the optical trackpad select Wipe > Wipe data/factory reset
After this has completed do Wipe > Wipe cache
Again, once this has completed do Wipe > Wipe Dalvik-cache.

I understand that the sd card gets wiped and that is not a problem, i'm more worried what gets wiped from the phone memory (not worried about installed apps) also can i do the ext3/4 from the phone as i only have windows 7.

HTC Hero :: Installing Official Update On Rooted Phone?

Sep 23, 2009

I am getting calls going straight to voicemail with no missed calls on my phone, when I have full signal, so orange have (after a lot of calls) agreed to terminate my contract. I have to return my phone (shame I could not keep it for free!) and have rooted my phone, and installed the modaco ROM.

I want to return it with an orange ROM, and was wondering if I can just install the updated orange ROM on my phone over the top of the modaco, and has anyone done this successfully? From reading around I am assuming that this would hide the fact that I have ever rooted or installed a custom ROM, as I want to be back on warranty?
