View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted phone so I don't want any ota updates. How can i stop or ignore them automatically. Prevent the fat finger.
I did a search for 'stop ota updates' and didn't see anything.
I've an Orange HTC Sensation with ICS on it (official update). It's not rooted.
Orange have a Contacts Backup app that doesn't work but constantly and irritatingly tells you it's failed to connect. I don't want it or use it and I've uninstalled the updates so instead of trying to backup my contacts to Orange (which I never asked for) it comes up in "update available" lists and intrudes on my taskbar with the "1 update available" message.
Is there any way to stop it trying to update?
The .6 update that is meant to fix the memory card problem pops up on my phone like twice a day. If I download it AND install it, it doesn't take. The same FOTA update is detected again the next day, and the next day, and the next. I don't have any memory card issues. But I'm wondering how to make my rooted phone accept FOTA updates. I'm a n00b. Is this just a limitation of rooted phones? I rooted using this method: How to Root Your HTC Evo 4G! | HTC Evo 4G Hacks! I used this file: Supersonic_1.32.651.1_rooted.zip
View 4 Replies View RelatedI know it happens, the update yesterday got mine... Just wondering why this seems to happen? Could it be because my phone is sim locked to Orange, does that mean that I will always need to use a gold card, or will unlocking the phone from Orange solve these update wifi issues?
View 7 Replies View RelatedJust picked up the EVO 4G and looking to root in order to remove the Sprint apps and other bloatware (Peep, Footprints, etc.). I'm just trying to find out if it will be possible to use OTA Sprint firmware updates (i.e. the inevitable 2.2 down the road) once the phone is rooted, and if so, will it reset the phone (delete all data) or merely revoke root access? Down the line, I'm not so concerned about having root access, mostly right now with removing the excess.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI rushed to rooT before I even installed the latest ota and installed a custom recovery but I have been facing huge slowdown in games that should run butter smooth on my phone such as dead trigger and my friend with same mobile phone and both on stock jelly bean 4.2.2 rooted can run it butter smooth the only difference between 2 devices is that he installed the ota updates before rooting so could that be the problem?and if so is the there a way to install ota updates while rooted and if there is any custom rom without problems that works on my mobile phone that fasts everything up.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a galaxy samsung s3 and rooted it to download custom roms, etc. Which is all new to me fyi. Anyway, haven't decided on a rom yet, so still got the stock one going. When i get a notice to download a system update, and try to do it, it reboots to twrp recovery that i installed. Not sure what to do at this point or should i just not worry about the updates. Also, my phone doesn't recognize a usb connection when i hook it to my computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you stop the phone from checking for and applying OTA updates? I had rooted mine, and I pulled it out of my pocket tonight to find that it had updated itself. I haven't check what effect that has had on my root yet, but I expect that it will cause problems now or in the future.
On the EVO, there's a menu option to stop the update checker, but I didn't see that on the X.
Lately it seems that installing or updating an app is about a 50/50 chance of failure. This is both before and after I rooted. Then I installed LithiumMod and see the same thing. It doesn't appear to be any particular apps, and I've noticed it most recently with pandora update, wow armory, angry birds lite, and others. It makes the phone very useless in the instance where I need a new app and can't get it to work.
Going to Settings > Applications > Market > Clear Data seems to work... again, 50/50. Doesn't fix it every time.
Any ideas? I've googled around and most solutions are the "clear data" method, or just "try it again".
It used to be the market would separate apps that were approved for auto update from those that had disabled auto update set. One could then simply hit the Update All (for the group) button and it would update ONLY the apps that were auto update enabled. Over the past few months Play Store has changed their behavior in that it no longer separates the apps and will only enable auto updates for everything or nothing.
How can I hide or otherwise prevent these few apps that I do not want to update from being in the play store update list? As it is now, I have to selectively update each individual app from the list, skipping the few apps I do not want updated.
Currently on a Samsung GS3, rooted, stock.
I'm working on a 1.5 Android application. Developing in Eclipse 3.4.2 on Windows XP. I have a MapView, have requested updates, etc.
The problem is that after the first manually injected GPS coordinate, the app stops recognizing that a GPS coord has been sent.
CODE:..........
Then MyLocationListener simply changes the value in a TextView to match the new GPS coordinate.
CODE:..........
I added some logging in the onLocationChanged method and it only ever sees a Location the first time that I attempt to send an update. All subsequent ones don't fire the onLocationChanged method.
Additional info:
The logcat output is as follows:
10-02 17:22:34.423: INFO/gps(6671): Provider gps is has status changed to 1. Extras: Bundle[mParcelledData.dataSize=52]
First GPS update is faked:
CODE:............
According to http://developer.android.com/reference/android/location/LocationProvider.html#AVAILABLE , that 2 maps to "Available".
As soon as that "Available" gets set, no other locations get passed through. Seems a bit counterintuitive.
I flashed this ROM (cm-10.1.0-RC0-1-GT-S5830-cooper++.zip) and clock having problem, it says the the clock stop from working, and everytime i will set alarm, it force close.
and i'm using NQ Android booster, and everytime i kill some background apps, it will restar my phone..
I rooted my phone recently and installed the leaked 2.2 update.I ran Unrevoked as well as Unrevoked Forever, so I have S-OFF on my phone.I want to now put the official 2.2 release on my phone, while of course keeping my root.It would be best to keep my data on there, but if I have to run a Titanium backup and restore once it's installed, that's okay too.I just need to know the process to do this and where to get the update.I am running the leaked 2.2 Froyo update from May and I have the 2.05.00.06.11 radio.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have rooted my droid and now I started wondering about what happens when verizon releases ota updates. I reverted back to 2.0.1 , 2.1 was a little too buggy for me. Does anyone know what will happen if/when verizon releases 2.1 ota. Will rooted droids receive the ota updates, will there be any problems installing the os. I just want to make sure I get the updates if I don't go back to mc's 2.1 rom.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm a VZW subscriber. I currently use a Storm 2 (HATE IT). I have been waiting... and waiting for the N1. I have a friend that works in the higher ups of VZW (not retail). I was just giving him shit the other day about the N1 situation. He said, "you should just get the Incredible it has slight better specs and the optical mouse.". I then told him my dislike for Sense UI. He said, "well then just root it".Would there be any difference between a rooted N1 and a rooted Incredible? Wouldn't they then have the exact same OS? (Provided I was going to flash it with Cyanogen). Thusly I would have the same phone with better specs, if I got the Inc over the N1. Is this flawed thinking? Since the N1 is Googles phone and gets updates first. When you root and flash with a diff ROM, do you then not get updates? I'm guessing you would be reliant on the updates to that ROM which ever MOD you choose.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWith the lack of support the Eris has gotten for upgrading the OS, is there any concern that the Incredible will face the same fate in the future? Are we seeing a standard being set with the HTC phones that the OS support will be lacking? I don't know how often Android will be updated, but I'd hate to buy this phone only to see the OS upgraded in 6-12 months for other Android phones but not the Incredible.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI must have changed a setting because I am no longer getting app update notifications. Anyone know how to fix this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I go down through my contacts, or my favorites and they have the green circle with a number to show updates, I open them up, go to the updates portion and if it says update no Facebook page, I select it. Problem is, it goes to Face book's mobile page and not the app, which is how I would like it. Has anyone else experienced this, know of a work-around/solution? I did a brief search and didn't really see anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf anyone has any ideas on beneficial updates to Google Android or Sense software to make the Incredible a better device to use post them here.
1. I'd like HTC to upgrade the Sense Keyboard. When you need to select a number or symbol, you need to hold in a key. The problem with this is that if you accidentally press a button by accident and want to "roll" your finger to the right one you are able to do this. The problem is you can only select the letter no matter how long you hold the key in the numbers and symbols will never pop up.
2. Make a separate app for Photo's and Video's or just call the app "Media"
3. Subtitle support in the default video player.
I'm rooted, still running stock 2.2. How do I disable OTA updates? I want to keep the current ROM.
View 14 Replies View RelatedEvery so often when I'm updating applications from the market, they fail to install after downloadIng completely. I install them again and it works, but the initial update doesn't work. Why is it doing this? The download location? I do have a sd card in the incredible from my previous phone, the droid, would that be the problem? What can I do to update apps without having to worry about redoing each failed install? I'm not rooted. Should this thread be moved? I am running froyo 2.2 version from droid world.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo my new incredible doesn't update like my blackberry did. I checked the settings and the notifications are selected, but nothing comes through. When I open the app and goto the home screen and then notifications, I have to force a refresh to see my responses, etc.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have friendstream running, and it seems to update twitter just fine, but for some odd reason facebook status messages don't get updated unless I manually refresh.
I have double checked everything too, it should be checking every hour, so I have no clue what is going on. Anyone else experiencing this? Or does anyone know of a solid workaround?
Is there anyway to sync photos/updates with people only in your contacts? I dont want to sync my entire facebook friends to phone... and it seems like thats the only way this is a cool feature i dont want to loose!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my Incredible with Unrevoked 3 and I have successfully used Unrevoked Forever to set S=OFF.now, I am trying to update to Froyo, but I am confused as crap. Can I use the official OTA update and do it manually? Or do I need a different ROM to update manually with.I've searched here and there everywhere and I haven't gotten a firm answer or I can't find anything at all.
