HTC Incredible : Screen Scratch Test?

May 2, 2010

Has anyone performed one of these ala the nexus one and droid?

I want to know if its necessary to buy a screen protector for the long run Right now the screen is void of scratches and I've been sliding it in and out of my pocket for 4 days now and smudges come off very easily.

So anyone perform a test or have any scratching issues?

HTC Incredible : Scratch Resistant Is Screen?

Apr 27, 2010

I haven't found a defining answer on this. I now expect most touch screen smart phones now being made to be made out of an almost unscratchable glass display. I keep hearing from some reviews that the screen scratches really easy. I haven't found a definitive answer on this anywhere and planned on purchasing this as my 1st ever smart phone tomorrow.

Is it possible to scratch the screen? I have this line in the middle of the screen. Looks like a scratch but kinda doesn't. When I swipe my finger across it doesn't feel like a scratch. I noticed it not too long after I received the phone. The line looks to uniform it kinda looks like a stain.

HTC Incredible : Is Phone Screen Scratch Resistant?

Apr 12, 2010

The iPhone uses some type of hardened glass that is very resistant to scratching. Other people (not me) have tried to scratch it with keys and it just won't do it.

Meanwhile I have an HTC G1 with glass that easily scratches and easily breaks. Its hard to break the glass on the iPhone.

What does HTC use for these Nexus One like phones? (Nexus One, Desire, Incredible, etc). Are they likewise using hardened glass?

If they use hardened glass, chances are you won't have any use for a screen protector.

HTC Incredible : Scratch On Screen Voids Warranty?

Aug 6, 2010

I've been lurking while waiting for my Incredible to come in the mail- it's finally here,

I went to my local Verizon store in CT today to get a case for my phone. The sales assistant tried to push me into getting a screen protector too, but I'd rather buy them online so I declined. She kind of snootily replied that if I end up scratching the screen because I don't have a protector, it's considered physical damage and that voids the warranty on the phone. Does this make any sense to you guys?

HTC Incredible :: Deep Scratch On Bottom Left Of Screen

Apr 30, 2010

I don't know how the hell this happened. There was absolutely no chance that this could have happened, but it did. The scratch is on the screen towards the bottom left and is deep enough that if you scratch your nail over it, you hear the concavity.

I don't believe this. I'm not able to call customer service at the moment, but I think I can get them to replace the phone. Honestly, I was so careful with it! I don't know what happened! I needed to vent. Scratches can still happen everyone.

I am going back to screen protectors but I would say for a first scratch not a bad run. I have kept it naked since I bought it and have had kept in my keys with pockets. Honestly I wouldn't doubt thats how it happened !

HTC EVO 4G :: What Causes Scratch Over Glass Screen?

Sep 1, 2010

I was reading about the scratch test (keys, screws, razor, etc.) and how they didn't scratch the screen, but how sand might. I am curious, is it sand specifically, or anything like it, such as dust or lint? Could things like that scratch glass? In other words, can the screen be scratched by slipping the phone into an otherwise empty, clean pants pocket?

I washed the screen already but problem still persists.

HTC EVO 4G :: Fixing 2 Inch Scratch On Screen?

Aug 6, 2010

Well it finally happened. I scratched the crap out of my screen. Have no idea how since I am very careful but oh well - nice 2 inch scratch right down the middle. I've been reading about various fixes. I'm intrigued by the idea of clear nail polish. This works well on glass, but I am afraid the nail polish remover used to wipe away any excess might melt this screen.

HTC EVO 4G :: Scratch Resistant But Got Long Crack On Screen

Jun 28, 2010

I was recently told by a Sprint phone "May I speak to a manager" guy that the EVO screen is Gorilla Glass, which he said, "Doesn't really scratch," even though I have a long crack on my EVO screen from just carrying it in my pocket with nothing else. (I've been so Honeymooning over it I haven't put it in my purse or backpack, or even in the same pocket as the headphones I use with it!)

My real question is:
Is there any way I can repair this? The touch screen works fine over the crack, and I can't feel it with the pad of my finger, but it is noticeable when I slight my nail over it. It runs from the start of the glass on the top to over a third of the way down the screen, and shows some pixel reflection, especially on white backgrounds. I'm willing to try at home methods, but do not wish to sand the glass down on the touch screen. If it can't be repaired, does anyone know of any screen protectors that minimize the visibility? I've seen some that bubble on the screen, and others that are so thick they make the scratch stand out.

HTC EVO 4G :: Screen - Scratch On Front Display Dead Center

Jul 9, 2010

So 31 days into using my HTC Evo (1 day past when I could actually do something about it), I now notice a scratch on the front display dead center. No idea how it got there, though I did let someone use it for the first time while I wasnt monitoring their every move with it, lol. To make the matter worse I ordered a screen protector 2 days before this happened (waiting on mail).

Just wanted to let people know it will scratch when you least expect it, so buy a screen protector.

My question is, considering I have never had a scratch on my cellphones before. Will a screen protector (ie: Boxwave ClearTouch Anti-Glare) make the scratch look less noticeable?

The 7$/m insurance (if you choose to get it) only means you pay 100$ to replace it compared to full retail. Toothpaste trick Ive read in random places online did nothing (bad or good). Not willing to risk making the issue any worse trying other methods, unless someone here has a good one.

I just noticed this chip/scratch on my screen. It wasn't there yesterday. And nothing happened to my phone, so it's puzzling as to where it came from.
Especially since nothing "happened", I thought the screen was nearly impossible to scratch? Or in this case it's a bit chipped, so that may be the answer. Anyways, here's the picture.

My Incredible took its first fall yesterday. Considering I have nothing but a screen protector on the phone, I'd say it came out just fine. I was wondering if anyone has tried smoothing out some scratches successfully? Can't really see it, but I feel it every time I push the Power button or hold the phone in a certain way, and well, while I'll get over it, for now it annoys me.

We would all type in the same web site and hit go at the same time. My incredible was killing them. Compared to the droid, the incredible would load the site about 5 seconds faster. Samsung Captivate :: Got Scratch On My Captivate Screen

Oct 6, 2010

So today in glass design I was checking messages when a small ( when i say small i mean you almost can't even see it) piece of glass landed on my captivate. My captivate has the body glove, screen protector and screen protector. When this little piece of glass got on the screen I tried to just rub it off but it cut through the screen protector and put a deep scratch on the actual captivate screen. The screen protector I was using was gadget guard so I definitely don't recommend using that if you plan on it because of how weak it is. I'm also disappointed with the captivates screen. If a small piece of glass barely rubbing on it can leave a deep scratch, I can't imagine what keys could do.You can't really see the scratch, but I'm just super ocd about it and can feel it on my finger every time it's in that area.
