View 1 Replieswell im new to this rooting thing, my evo was sucessfully rooted then i started to look around for ROMS and Kernals and i see that baked snack 1.8 is pretty good so i downloaded it put it on my SD card, wiped my phone and cache and when it is opening the zip file that it is in, it says (BAD) and doesnt work, can somebody tell me what im doing wrong, btw i saw on the baked snack website saying that i need to have the lastest wimax update and newest radio, are these things im going to need or i have to make sure my phone already has those things.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat kernel are you guys/gals using? My battery consumption is insanely horrible. I have tried a few, but it just gets worse!
View 8 Replies View RelatedI loaded Baked Snack Beta 9.7 ROM last night and have nothing but good things to say. It's over clocked to 1113 using Set CPU. The overall phone runs extremely fast and smooth and I have not had any FC's or random reboots. I also score approximately 1 MFLOP higher than Fresh Rom 1.0.1. Bottom line I am very happy and I had never even heard of this ROM until yesterday.
View 16 Replies View RelatedHey guys, I really liked the speediness of BS1.7 when I tried it yesterday, but I didn't like the subtle changes to the UI so I reverted back to the stock rom. Does anyone know if it's possible to customize a rom? My main gripe with BS was the bar at the bottom of the phone was changed from a gray/silver color to a transparent black. If I could change that and reinstall certain apps that weren't included (like Sprint Nav), I think it'd be perfect. If not, then is it possible to flash a kernel using the stock rom? I'm mainly trying to overclock the cpu.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed this tonight , and yes I wiped everything. I can't get tether to work. Any ideas? Also, where can I get this #6 kernel everyone is flashing over this Rom. I know its built in but i guess people are reporting it being more smooth with that flashed over.
View 15 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been successful with doing it this way? Seems pretty easy.

Let me know if it looks good .. I would have taken a screenshot but have to set up my email.
I'm rocking the HTC Evo (obviously) and am enjoying the deliciousness of Baked Snack 1.7 (with what I believe to be the #6 kernel). My one gripe with this ROM is that any music player I use (HTC, Stock Android, Music Mod) causes whatever track I'm listening to to restart randomly if I leave it paused for too long. I'm listening to audio books (Stephen King), so it's a pain to have to keep on finding where I left off. This happens if I let the screen go dark, plug in the USB cable, you name it. Does anyone know why this might be and if there's a workaround for it happening? The HTC player on stock Sense did not have this problem.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone know if we can change the lock screen from the sense lock to the vanilla lock screen?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI used Unrevoked 3 to attain root and have flashed Baked Snack 1.7 onto my phone with Clockworkmod.
Everything seems to be well and good save for my phone is no longer detected by my computer. It will not accept a charge and will not detect as a removable disk.
I've updated to the latest WiMax update per instructions on Baked Snack's website.
Have I missed a step?
when I plug the cable into my phone, the "Select which type of connection to use" box appears for a split second then diappears. The battery is not taking a charge nor is the phone detectable on my computer. I've installed the hboot drivers prior to using unrevoked 3.
I recently installed this ROM and I am happy with it so far. There is just one glitch I noticed and I cannot remember if this happened at all on the stock ROM, although I don't think it did. When I'm done talking on the phone and pull it away from my fat head, the screen lights up like it should, but I cannot hit the END button for like 2-3 seconds. Shouldn't it "take" right away?

I am a NOOB and don't really know how I got Baked Snack. It's really a pretty sweet ROM but I'd like to go back to stock soon so that I can get the OTA Froyo update when it is officially released.
All of this stuff scares me but it really is awesome at the same time!
Are the any disadvantages to using unrevoked to root and then their new recovery program, versus the more extensive process, like using the new "simple root" app that roots/nand/rom
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just can't get it.Yes, I'm new to this stuff but I've read every thread and watch hrs of youtube (which may have screwed me up more).I got my new Evo last week, I'm coming off of a jailbroken Iphone (blackrain).I'm looking for wireless tether, ROM flashing is ok but I'm not going to go crazy.I'm running 2.1 (I never upgraded, because I'd thought it be easier to root). It seems I get to the end of both rooting programs and the deal get's done.Unrevoked says- The app is loaded on my phone, however is say's something crazy when I hit start in the app I wiped the system, so I can't remember what it says, but it's like fhugh something.
Simple Root-I'm able to go through all the steps of simple root, when I hit wireless tether, it tells me.NOT ROOT? and my kernals aren't right. Also, simple root is a two click program now vs the majority of vidoes that are 3/4 clicks. This can't be that hard to do.
I did unrevoked but i want to get to use the new froyo rom, can i do simple root on top of unrevoked?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to flash roms. i want to be able to use wi-fi tether. which should i do? advantages disadvantages to both.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThere have been a few different posts dealing with this concept, but I still haven't found a solid answer..which probably means there isn't one. Anyway, I am about to root and have been reading everything I can find, and there seem to be some people that do not like the unrevoked because it does not "fully" root the phone; or does not nand unlock completely or something. I wont try to explain details because I do not know much, but bottom line is:
View 7 Replies View RelatedFor anyone here that has used Simpleroot, anyone had issues with Step 2? Everytime I click Unlock NAND, instead of moving into that step it does Step 1 again and tries to push the .img to the SD card. Is this a known issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did the most recent OTA simple root.
I got all of that loaded. Updated. I am stuck at the red section. When I go to recovery I get the black screen with the Triangle exclamation mark.
Note: This process will only work if you already have the engineering HBOOT. (If you have NAND unlocked, you already have it and can proceed confidently.) If you'd like to check the actual version, you can boot into HBOOT and look near the top of the screen: it should say HBOOT-0.76.2000, not 0.79.0000. If you have 0.79.0000, you will need to do Toast's Part 2 first before starting here.
Download this file, rename it PC36IMG.zip, and put it on the root of your SD card however you like.PC36IMG-1.47.651.1_eng-hboot_RA-1.7.0.1.zip (md5=1ae574c403e9a2694de97706391255c0)
Power off your phone.
Hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons until the white screen appears.
HBOOT will scan the PC36IMG.zip file. You'll see a blue progress bar on the right side of the screen.
When it's finished scanning, it will ask if you want to start the update. Press the Volume Up button to answer Yes.
Wait a while for it to flash all the images.
If you get a "Fail-PU" error on the recovery image, see below.
When it finishes and asks if you want to reboot the device, press the Volume Up button to answer Yes.
After the phone has rebooted, delete the PC36IMG.zip file from your SD card.
Download this file to your SD card:su-2.1-e-unsecure-signed.zip (md5=a055c916168db7e61a75a37a13993cd6)
Power off your phone.
Hold down the Volume Down and Power buttons until the white screen appears.
If you forgot to delete PC36IMG.zip from your SD card, HBOOT will scan it again now. When it asks if you want to start the update, press Volume Down to answer No. When it asks if you want to reboot, press Volume Down again.
Now you should be at the HBOOT menu. Press Volume Down to move the selection to RECOVERY and press the Power button to select it.
In a moment, you'll be at a different looking menu.
Using the Volume and Power buttons as before, select "Flash zip from sdcard."
Select su-2.1-e-unsecure-signed.zip from the list and follow the prompts to flash it.
When that's finished and you're back at the menu, choose "Reboot system now."
You should now have root, unlocked NAND, working WiMAX, and great battery life.
Seriously. In simple terms,

View 19 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded a simple file and uploaded it with Astro to root my phone before I ever put a custom ROM on it. I'm just simply trying to find a root for my friends phone that doesn't involve needing to make a nandroid backup ect. like I did with my Ally. Does anyone have a simple root file that I can upload on my friend's Hero? He has the 2.1 update... also does anyone know of any custom ROM's for his phone that have the 2.2 update? If so, then I will go through the trouble to make his recovery, backup and flash the ROM (which should already have the root), but if not, then it's only worth getting a simple root.
