One of the things I find annoying about the Captivate is the separate volumes for rings and notifications. When I lower the volume with the volume rocker switch, it only lowers the ring volume. Is there a way to set a global volume so that changing the volume changes ALL volumes together?

I have noticed that when I text *3282# to check my data useage, the notification ringer gets switched to low and I have to go in to settings to change it back. Anyone else have this same issue?
View 15 Replies View RelatedI noticed that when turning down the volume of the ringer with the volume rocker it doesn't automatically turn down the notification volume as well. Is there a way to set the volume rocker to adjust both notification and ringer volume to the same level? You can test this by going under Settings/Sound and Display/Ringer Volume...and try adjusting the volume with the rocker and it only adjust the Ringer Volume.

When I turn the ringer volume down using the side buttons on my phone it only turns the ringer down, nothing else. I'm coming from the Evo where you can click "use same volume for both" or something to that effect. Is this a 2.2 thing?

View 3 Replies View RelatedOK, after being on the phone with AT&T for 2 hours and being conferenced call with Samsung this is the result:
Samsung claims that *3282# is the Samsung code to lower the notification volume.
Samsung claims that they are now aware that *3282# is the AT&T code to check our data usage.
Because of this conflict, they claim they will send an OTA fix; but will not state when that will be.
AT&T has been receiving many complaints regarding this problem. Samsung claims they have never heard of this before. Apparently they forgot to log in my call last week?
I can't seem to change alerts and ringer volume seperately using Audiomanager pro. Whilst at work i want to hear my txt message sounds (alerts) but not my ringtone, and i want the phone to vibrate with both still. However when moving the ringtone and/or alert slider the other one moves too, they can't seem to move seperately. Am i doing something wrong or does this app not do that, and if so, is there an ap that does?
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe volume buttons/rocker on my phone does not allow me to change to media only. If no media is playing it only changes the ringer volume.
Imagine this setting, in my car I have volume all the way up, I get out of car and put on headphones, volume is too loud. I ether play music to where my ears bust or I go into settings and change the volume there. When I try to turn it down immediately, it changes the ringer until I let that volume display disappear. Which means I'm stuck listening to it too loud until I let it disappear to where I can change the media volume.
My little rant is over, how do I force the volume buttons to only be media!
Got my daughter the Samsung Epic this morning and grabbed a case and the home dock for it. Hate the fact that you have to remove the back of the case to plug it into the home dock and the fact that it sets the ringer volume to mute every time I plug it in, not to mention the fact that the external speaker option for the dock won't go active until the phone is updated to Android 2.2. Now that my mini rant is over, I do actually have a question, anyone know what you need to do to get the weather stuff to come up on the Desk Home screen when that software is active, I am having no luck at all. There is no option for it anywhere and the auto magic stuff must be broken. It clearly shows weather info available on all the pics and stuff Samsung has shown off and I would kind of like it to be there.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI always create calendar appointments with an alarm. A few days ago I went to Settings/Sound and Display/Notification Ring tone and set it to "on time". Maybe a day or two later I created my own notification ring tone and set it in settings. The ring tone works fine in Astrid and Nudist. However, the calendar notifications still use the "on time" ring tone. I even tried changing the notification ring tone to "tweeters" but calendar still uses "on time", even after multiple reboots.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so i created a folder on my sd card called ringers, worked great for allowing me to use my mp3 files that i croped for my ringtones, however when the phone rings it doesnt ring at the desired volume from the begining, it vibrates only for 1 pulse then the volume slowly comes in from min to the desired level it is as if it is set to escalating. I have searched through all the settings but if there is a way to turn this off i have missed it. I know the mp3 file doesnt escalate because i use the same file on my moment and it rings at full volume from the beginning.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA bizarre problem has developed on my Magic (Vodafone, 1.6) whereby the Ringer volume keeps setting itself to the lowest setting. Five times today I've missed a call, and upon pressing volume up, noticed the Ringer Volume was on zero. I set it back to about 50% and locked the phone again. After it had happened about 3 times, I took to repeatedly checking the phone, and it seemed that the volume was remaining where set, until I missed a call again and this is where it gets weird: Every time a call comes in, the ringer volume sets to zero and I miss the call!
How bizarre is that? I have checked the volume repeatedly to find it was ok, then I miss another call and I find the volume on zero again. I have switched the phone off and on several times without the problem going away. I don't have any apps or widgets installed that alter the ringer volume, the only thing I have which is along these lines is "Smart Vibrator". Oh and it doesn't matter how I set the volume, with the buttons on the side of the phone or through the Settings, the problem still occurs. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Because this is driving me insane and the phone has nearly gone across the room on several occasions!
Is there any way to lock the ringer volume? I keep my phone on vibrate always. well, I try to, but sometimes I hit the volume button on accident and it would be nice to not have to adjust it. Not only do I not want the phone to ring, but I don't want it to not vibrate (all the way down). Also, I still don't always understand when I can adjust other volumes, like Media Volume. Sometimes I start an app or music and the volume is too loud. It seems like sometimes I can't adjust the volume till after it starts playing.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI attended a seminar and simply turned the volume all the way down (i.e. Menu, Sound & Display, then Ringer Volume). But when I got out of the seminar, and went back to Ringer Volume, it's now grayed out as is Phone ringtone, Phone Vibrate, Notification Sound and all the others below until you get to Emergency Tone and below, where those are back to being bright white. i.e. now when I touch the grayed out Ringer Volume, it does nothing and I'm stuck with vibrate only.
