Feb 20, 2010I got the body glove case, and I like the feel of that, so I don't wish to use another. However are there any media docks, and car docks that will work with this case on the phone?

Dec 28, 2009At night when using the multi-media dock, I find that even using the "dimmer" of the two screen brightness options for the dock, it is still WAY too bright, and I don't think it's just the light from the 4 buttons. Any app out there or other solution to this without rooting the phone?

Nov 26, 2009After reading Engadget's article on how to make your own dock, I decided to make my own, and I wanted to see if anyone else has made their own custom docks as well. As for mine, I just used some Foam-core board, glue and extra magnets lying around, and came up with this:
I plan on adding a big ol' Droid logo to the face of it as well, but until then I think it looks pretty decent

Nov 25, 2009I have been trying to find one in stores for about a week and a half now and can't find them anywhere.
Then two days ago they went on backorder online, and now they aren't even listed on Verizon's website, and on Motorola's they are both listed as "Coming Soon." Anyone have any info on these?
Also, does the car mount come with a charger? It states that it does on Motorola's website but it says it doesn't on Verizon's...
Motorola Droid :: Pictures - Magnetic Docks Work
Nov 9, 2009So it's no secret that the super-special-awesome multimedia and car docks use magnetics to get you into that mode. But I got curious just now, so here is what happens when you put 1/4" cube neodymium magnets on certain spots on the device. If you already figured that this is how it works, good for you.
These pictures are terrible, yes. You can click on them to see them in their full-sized horror. I didn't make a point of being artistic here, I just want to show you what happens. And yes, that is a box of Sensodyne. It was on my bathroom vanity, which is the best-lit area of my house at nighttime.
This is where you want to put the magnet to activate the sensor.
But the polarity is the key to choosing which "dock" gets activated. I don't have a polarity indicator to tell me which pole is which, but suffice it to say that one pole activates multimedia, and the other activates car.
I tried this with 5mm diameter, 1mm thick neodymium disks, but they didn't work. That's the only other size I have besides 1" cubes which I'd be afraid to put by my phone though.
You may want to look into something like 5mm by 2mm or 10mm by 2mm or something. 1/4" cubes aren't very compact if you're looking to be thrifty and make your own dock. You could just slip a thin disk into your design and it'd be totally discreet. Hey, making your own dock or buying an el cheapo one and slipping in a 10 cent magnet sure beats buying a $30 one, doesn't it?
This also shows us that there may not be any more special docks to come, and if there will be, they won't be based on this technology. After all, both poles of the magnetic sensor have already been used.

Oct 30, 2009I read a review which stated that if you have the browser running you have to CLOSE it, not minimize, to make a phone call. I'm wondering what other multi-tasking type of limitations this phone, and Android, have. I was playing around with a Hero at Best Buy one day and while I had the browser open I couldn't get to one of the other screens. Not sure if it was just me or if you can't do that at all with android. What good is it to have three windows and multi-tasking if you can't open a program in one screen and then leave it running and jump over to another screen. So I'm wondering if that's really true, and what other type of limitations it has? Such as, can I have the browser open while I'm using GPS? Can I open GPS and enter a route while I'm in the middle of a phone call?

My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).

Nov 20, 2009I found out today that when I use the headphone output from my Droid, I can feed the Google Maps turn-by-turn through my car speakers using the aux-in on my head unit. I can also play music out of my Droid in the same fashion. I can even do both at the same time! But here's the rub. The Google Map "Voice" is so loud compared to the music out of my Droid that if I have the music playing loud enough to hear. Google Maps blows out my speakers! There doesn't seem to be a volume control on the Google Girl, so I guess this is as much a feature request to be able to mix the Google Girl up a bit over the music.

Feb 5, 2010I finally installed bugless beast 7.4 and really like it. I like the multi touch in all the applications but I found that I miss having the zoom buttons in the browser. I like the multi touch for fine zoom control but I like just hitting the zoom button and it automatically fits the text to the screen. Does anyone know of a way to have both? I know you can double tap the screen but I find I like the button better.
