Motorola Droid : Multi Home Apps Running

Dec 7, 2009

ok so to make a educated decision, i downloaded from the market, home++ and GDE. so technically with default home app, i now have three to choose from. noticed that when press my home button it wants me to decide what home app to use and all three come up. does this mean that all 3 are running? is this sucking the life out of my phone? i have heard the whole android moves memory to running apps thing so i am wondering should i remove one of them since i cant remove the default one?

Motorola Droid :: Beautiful Home Running By Itself With Sweeter Home Active

Jan 17, 2010

One thing that's bothering me about SH... I don't use Beautiful Home anymore. In fact, I've removed all beautiful widgets from all my home screens and home screen replacement apps. Yet for some reason I get the weather thing in my status bar as if I had Beautiful Home running. Which means it's somehow being run without being told to. And it only does this with Sweeter Home.

General :: Make Home Button Close All Running Apps?

Feb 15, 2014

Swiping to close each app all the time is inefficient for me. I realize other people might not want this but I want whatever app I was using to completely close when I tap the home button. There is one app that puts an X on your homescreen that closes everything when clicked. That is a little better but I want to go one step further and have the home button do the same thing. Is there anything out there for that?

Motorola Droid X :: How To Keep Apps From Running?

Oct 20, 2010

So, as all DX owners know we have quite a few apps ALWAYS running, whether you need them or not, open them or not.... they just keep running. Why did Android design it that way? HOW to SHUT them off totally - that's the question. I have Skype, Wether, Contacts, Social app (Face book), Calendar, Sync Service, Google Messaging Service, and many more running ALL the time. And there are apps in my Tray, that are factory set, which I'll never use. How can I Delete them.

Motorola Droid : Running Apps Slowing Down

Jan 11, 2010

I understand that certain apps need to run in the back ground in order to work and others run so that they are easily accessible. Is it possible to pick and choose which apps run in the back ground so I can keep my phone running smoothly. I have used task killer apps but, they are just not the right solution as most apps will just restart them selfs.

My main problem is the fact that I have to many apps installed on the phone and as the app store grows and I keep reading this forum it only gets worse. My phone actually got to an unresponsive state so that every time I picked it up there is a serious lag. I fixed this by deleting unnecessary apps that aren't used daily or weekly. The problem is I liked these apps and want the ability to be able to use them in a pinch but I don't want them running all of the time.

Motorola Droid :: Multiple Home Replacement Apps Installed

Dec 15, 2009

I've been playing around with Home++ lately and have really been liking the feel of this home replacement. Currently I'm using DxTop and while I am really impressed with it as well, I feel like changing it up a bit.

I'm just wondering if having both of them installed on my phone is going to kill the battery faster, make it lag, or generally cause any issues with normal phone operation. Also, if I select to use one of them as my default home screen, does it automatically stop the other one or will I have two home replacements running at once?

Motorola Droid :: Multi Task Limitations

Oct 30, 2009

I read a review which stated that if you have the browser running you have to CLOSE it, not minimize, to make a phone call. I'm wondering what other multi-tasking type of limitations this phone, and Android, have. I was playing around with a Hero at Best Buy one day and while I had the browser open I couldn't get to one of the other screens. Not sure if it was just me or if you can't do that at all with android. What good is it to have three windows and multi-tasking if you can't open a program in one screen and then leave it running and jump over to another screen. So I'm wondering if that's really true, and what other type of limitations it has? Such as, can I have the browser open while I'm using GPS? Can I open GPS and enter a route while I'm in the middle of a phone call?
