View 1 Replies View RelatedFor historical reasons (from when I had a LG VX-6000 before I upgraded to a smart phone), I have several email notifications that are sent to my phone by way of <my number>@vtext.com. This is the Verizon email-to-SMS gateway that has been around forever.
The default 'Messaging' app is smart enough to extract the email address from these messages and look it up in my Contacts list, so it shows up as from the proper contact.
I have been looking for an app to alert me with a different tone depending on who sent me the message. I have tried 'Missed Call' and 'Ringo'. Both will let me assign an alert tone to a contact, but when one of these SMS messages is received, both 'Missed Call' and 'Ringo' show the message as from '6245' (which is 'MAIL' transposed with a telephone keypad). As a result, it won't look up the proper alert tone because it won't extract the sender's email address.
Is there a better solution? I could have these messages sent to my Gmail instead, but the Gmail app won't play different tones depending on the sender.
Is it possible to change this? It cannot be changed through notification ringtone menu; all that succeeds in doing is changing tone for other notifications like email etc. Have tried to select other notification tones, but it is the "tada" tone that always comes up when SMS is received. Can the tone for receiving SMS be changed, and if so, how?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 3 day old X10 mini and tried to use a song from music library as message alert tone. However, even after I have already opened the message, the music still keeps on playing. I have opened a lot of other apps from the phone and the music kept playing until the end. I could even play another music from the player alongside the alert tone I used.

View 2 Replies View RelatedQuick question and I was wondering if its been happening to any of you. When I get a new voice mail, there is no alert appearing at all in the "Messages" app on the home screen. Is there a setting somewhere to fix this or perhaps my voice mail is just hosed? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Update: Ive noticed I've been getting some weird text messages since getting this phone. I did a Google search and found this: Gibberish Text instead of New Voice Mail Notification on TP2 - Verizon | Forums and Blogs - Verizon Community Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe this is my problem?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have both gmail and exchange calendars synced to my phone.
Is there any way I can have different alert settings for each calendar?
For example, my exchange calendar, I'd just want it to pop up, but not ring/vibrate, but I want to ring/vibrate on my gmail calendar notifications.
I do see in the calendar reminder settings, that I can uncheck all calendars, and choose settings for a particular calendar there, but, I guess, for the unchecked calendar, there will be no reminder at all.
Maybe there's a 3rd party reminder program that can manage this if stock doesn't?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got this phone on Thursday night. I like it so far but one thing about it is annoying me. It doesn't seem like I can make different sounds for all of my contacts for text messages. I can take music on my phone and assign it as different ringtones for each of my contacts but I don't seem to see any option for text alerts. Am I missing something? I already know how to add the music to the notifications folder I just can't do anything but use one as a default. I was able to do this with my BlackBerry Storm without any problem. Is there an app for that? If not I wonder when Froyo is available for the Incredible if it will be possible?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there an app for increasing the ringer/alert volume on the HTC Incredible? The original Motorola Droid had plenty of volume, but the phone sucked. I did see discussion though about the Motorola Droid X.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI keep my phone on vibrate most of the time and I've found that when I'm on the phone talking to someone and I get a new email, the phone vibrates so I can hear it, which is great. But the caller on the other end hears it too and they always end up saying 'WTF was that noise'? How to turn this off so callers don't hear the vibrate mode too?
View 24 Replies View RelatedOnly thing I can think of that I miss on my storm. When turning it off, it would alert you it would be turning back on at your alarm time to wake you and would do exactly that. Stock app doesn't do that. I've searched and gone through market apps descriptions looking for this function. At the least I want the alarm to go off when the phones turned off. I don't need it to notify me when its turning on, when its shutting down.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy Incredible rings when there's a visible screen. When the screen darkens and phone enters sleep after, in my case 1 minute of non-use, any calls coming in do not ring through. Voicemail picks them up but there is no indication that I have an incoming call unless I wake the phone up and check the upper left hand menu for the voicemail icon. This can't be set up right. When the phone is asleep (dark screen) but not powered off, there has got to be a setting that lets calls ring through and awaken the phone so it can be answered.
