View 2 RepliesWhen I make a new android project and I go to res/values/string.xml I get a screen to add android resources instead of a XML document. I keeps getting the error about : java.lang.NullPointerException.
Is there a way to just alter a XML file (like suggested in tutorials)?
Specifically some that may cater to an experienced developer (C#) but not necessarily familiar with Java/Eclipse?I have seen a couple vids on YouTube but they are either short (not much you can learn in 3mins or patronizing)

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend has an ipod. He has bought an FM transmitter for his Ipod which lets him play it through his radio by tuning into the set frequency. It worked reallywell. I am looking to get one of these and wanted to know if you can get them for HTC phones. I have seen the generic ones which plug into the earphone socket, but ideally wanted one which connected to the bottom of the my Desire via the micro USB so i had no wires anywhere. the Ipod/iphone one my mate has just clips onto the bottom using the charging port. Also, has anyone found a good site for HTC accessories?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe new Incredible site lists a Gallery application that brings in your Picasa Web Albums. I've already installed the apk for the Gallery app that was on the Droid. And as far as I've seen, the Incredible doesn't come with such an app. Anyone else? Go to Features then Feature Apps, then Gallery Apps.

Ive always did my renewing thru Verizon and am currently not eligable for upgrade. Can I still go to the other sites and extended my contract and upgrade to a new phone? How does that work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i pretty much know nothing about computer or Rom's if thats what you call it nor Droid system. So i heard that you can get better battery life on your Incredible and you can also make you phone faster. Here is what i have done so far. I install Unrevoked on my mac and connected to my phone and did its stuff. after all said and done i have and Icon on my phone called SuperUser which i have no idea what that is. Then I read that i need to download busybox , Ok! But now what? I can't seem to understand anything. All i wanted was to remove some of the preinstall apps and get a faster CPU and get better battery life. But since i dont know what i am doing and getting frustrated i just want to go back on how my phone came when it came out the box. I am idiot to this so please i need step by step on what i need to do. I have a MAC not a windows computer. Also if you think that you can walk me through with either project (remove root or what i was orig planning on doing) please send me expecting details.
View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my hands on an Incredible. It seems as though the easiest way to root "was" unrevoked which as I understand is broken with the latest OTA, which I noobily accepted last night as I activated my phone. Is there another manual way to root this guy?
View 13 Replies View RelatedAfter reading all the info about root I have a question, is there a sure way to do this yet? It looks like people are trying a few different methods. Can anyone shed any light on this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an XML resource file:
<resources> <section>
<category value="1" resourceId="@xml/categoryData1" />
<category value="2" resourceId="@xml/categoryData2" />
<category value="3" resourceId="@xml/categoryData3" />
</section> </resources>
Using XmlPullParser, on the START_TAG, I can use:
int value = parser.getAttributeIntValue(null, "value", 0);
to get values 1, 2, 3...however:
int resourceId = parser.getAttributeIntValue(null, "resourceId", 0);
doesn't work...it just yields the default value 0, or whatever I change the default value (3rd parameter) to be. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or if this is possible?
I have a rooted dinc with a Innocell 3500mAh Extended Life Battery.Other than the battery and being rooted (removed some stock apps and added wireless tether),its still stock (ie. ROM, Kernel, etc.).I don't talk, text, or browse the web much, but I do stream Pandora ALL DAY at work.Usually about 7-8 hours non stop Ever since I rooted, it seems like it runs a little slower (ie. scrolling through home screens, exiting apps, sometimes it hangs or lags, etc. The snapdragon processor just isn't "snappy" (pun intended) as it formerly was.I was thinking about doing a Factory data reset ? or do I need to unroot, then reroot again?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI see there are a couple of threads on this but I want to make sure I have this right. I just got off with Asurion and they are shipping a replacement. I had rooted my phone, installed some root only apps like wireless tethering and set cpu, removed some bloat like CityID and Tweet/Peep, and changed the boot animation. No custom ROM or radio update.When I wanted to get the OTA update so I applied s-off and flashed back to stock recovery.
So what do I need to do to return this phone. I know I will need to apply s-on. Then should I flash a stock 2.1 or just revert the changes I made to boot animation, restore the bloatware, and remove the root apps? Do I need to remove any other files that go with being root?
Does anyone know if they have released instructions on how to root the incredible? Id love to get rid of sense if possible.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIf you're like a lot of Android users, you're obsessed with battery life and probably require a percentage widget. If you don't use a battery life widget, this probably isn't for you. I used to use Curve Fish's battery life widget which, in my initial testing months ago, didn't seem to affect battery life so I kept it and didn't think much about it.
My brother-in-law showed me a percentage indication that goes over the battery icon in the status bar on his Evo 4G. I found this hack for the Hero:
[PORT] Display Percent Battery Left within Battery Icon - Fresh 2.1.2+ - xda-developers
It adds the percentage remaining on top of your existing battery gauge in the status bar. Yes, root is required for this. At the time of writing this, I am at 14h 20m since unplugged and have 69% remaining. I would typically be between 47-53% remaining by this time. That equates to 3.5% drain per hour improved to 2.2% drain per hour. Which then comes out to around 60% increase in battery life without the loss of any features.
So I charged my battery last night and unplugged it 8AM. About 30min commute using it to play music, then exited and stored it (since I can't bring my phone into work). Left @5PM and once again played some music on the way home. I have made no calls, no texting at all, and now noticed that I'm at 16% and dropping fast (7:25PM). I have read most of the battery threads and have blue tooth, mobile, and GPS turned off. Under running services I have:
Mail: Mail Service
Calender: ObexService
Touch Input:Touch Input
Google: GTalkService
Sync Service: SyncService
Messages: Transaction Service
HTC Message Up loader: UploadMessageService
Battery Widget: BatteryWidgetUpdate
Are these killing my battery, and which ones can I kill off? Which app can tell me who the resource (battery, etc) hogs are?
I know this has probably been gone over before, but I'm still looking for an LED Flashlight for the HTC Incredible. Any word on if there is one or if there is one in the works? I'd prefer to not root my phone.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been wanting to root my phone for a while, but I haven't had the bills to do it. I saw unrevoked released what looks like a fail proof way of doing it and I'm seriously considering taking the plunge. I'm debating whether or not to root it now or wait to see if this "possible" froyo update comes out later this month.

View 23 Replies View RelatedOkay, we have many little things going around so I'm going to try and consolidate for everybody. With my phone having hardware issues I've practically got this memorized now. These are basic steps, if you do not know how to flash a file you need to do a little more reading before you follow this. I take no responsibility for your actions, they are yours! If you destroy your phone, I cannot help you. Most of the links I provided have instructions on them. If they are just downloads, it assumes you know how to use the file provided.
