HTC Incredible :: Facebook And Calendar Integration
May 8, 2010Is there a way to have the birthdays from my facebook contacts show up in the daily calendar?

View 9 RepliesI'm new to the Android system and just got the EVO 4G when it came out last week. Alas, I'm not very familiar with the workings of the system. Of course, I have facebook so I integrated it into my phone. Well, all of my FB contacts birthdays were automatically imported into my calendar. How do I get rid of this? I have absolutely no interest in knowing that today is the birthday of someone my sister went to high school with (ie, random people I'm friends with on FB). I actually went through and deleted a lot of "friends" on Facebook to try to remedy the situation, but their birthdays are still on my calendar. Where can I turn this feature off? I tried manually getting rid of the birthdays on the calendar but my Android ignorance prevents me from doing this too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHey guys, quick question regarding facebook syncing with your phone contacts
I think this is a cool feature as long as it only syncs with the names in your contact list, but not adding all your facebook friends to your phone, but I was wondering,
Does syncing all these pictures and e-mail with contacts (say you have 2-300) use up a lot of storage space?? Would it be better to not sync them for the sake of storage?
Thanks
Currently I have my Gmail calendar of course, in Red I have a shared Google calendar with the wife, in Green this is all very slick, all display entries in the built in calendar app and looks great. Can I somehow display my works exchange calendar, in a different colour, just as simply. Not bothered about mail or contacts really, just the calendar.
View 1 Replies View RelatedConsidering the access Google has to programming genius and all of the brilliant coders out there developing apps and hacks, one thing never ceases to amaze me.
The utter lack of any integration between Google Calendar and Google Contacts.
You would think that you could just go to a Contact Record and from that record click on a button to create a Calendar Event. A link would then be created so you could easily call, email, message or navigate to the Contact for whom the event was created.
But no. You can't. Really, to me, this is remarkable for its lameness.
If you want to add email addresses of attendees to a meeting in Google Calendar, you must type them in from memory! There is no button to click which lets you select from a list of your Contacts and have the email control populated automatically. This, my friends, is PATHETIC.
Palm did this well 10 years ago.
C'mon Google, seriously, what the heck is up with that?
There is just one app that comes close to getting this right, "ContactEvent" and it's free in the Marketplace. Still, that is only half of what the functionality should be.
So I absolutely love Astrid, but it's missing one key feature for me. Calendar integration. I need the tasks to synchronize with the Android calendar.
Does such an app exist? Preferably one that is similar to Astrid?
I am pretty sure that in ICS when a calendar event had a registered location, you could click on the location triggering the maps app to show you where it is on the map. I've noticed that in Jelly Bean this link was disappeared. The location is shown under the title of the event but you can't click to view it on the map. Is this happening to your phones too?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just jumped ship from Apple and AT&T and I'm loving the new phone! Most qalms have been easily fixed, and most things seem like common sense, but I am having trouble with my facebook integration.
I personally don't want all my facebook contacts on my phone, I would like to be able to choose which ones I sync and which ones I don't, any way to do this? It seems a all or nothing type ordeal.
My mother-in-law has the best application on her Pre - it's an app that downloads pro sports team schedules to the calendar allowing for notification of upcoming games. I have searched all through the market place and haven't been able to find anything similar other than Sports Tap widget. Has anyone seen anything like this? If not, somebody should develop this. I would think it would be pretty popular.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm talking about apps that allow you to post things up on Twitter or Facebook from data you generate in the app (i.e. high scores, achievements, or results).
We put this into our How Am I Feeling? app but very few people seem to be using it - at least that I can see anyway as I can only track on Twitter.
What makes you want to announce what you did? Is it entirely an afterthought or just something you try once or twice and then forget about?
As I wait for my Droid X to arrive (in a few days) Im concerned about some banter I saw on another forum about Droid X integration with Facebook / Contacts' and that it was "bad"
I currently have HTC Hero and love how facebook and gmail contacts integrate. You can choose which contacts are linked and it doesnt merge FB people if i dont have them in GMAIL. Like the facebook photos populating the contact and access to FB albums and statuses for my gmail contacts. It works really well.
But this banter I heard on Droid X indicated the motorola ver of this social integration is not so ellegant. That it merges all facebook contacts and something about if you use backup manager it saves new contacts to the phone NOT to Gmail!
This concerns me as I love the elegance of all contacts being in GMAIL. Can someone with a droid x who perhaps came from HTC Sense explain how contact management with facebook is different? Is it "Bad"?
I've had a HTC Magic for around a year now and overall I'm happy with it. The only issue I have is the Facebook integration. That in there isn't any really.
I want to have all my contacts linked to facebook so I can see their Photos/status updates etc against their name.
I know it's a major feature of the Hero and the sense UI but there must be a decent app out there that does the same?
I tried to use Addressbook and Facebook mix in from Asurion and it workd quite well but continually force close when using it as a dialler.
Used Windows Phone 7 probably seen the way default Text Messeging app integrates with Facebook and WLM. Is there something like that for Android ?
An app tha would work with your contact list, if you want to send a message to a contact it would tell you if person is Online on Facebook or WLM if not then send a text.
or Show if a contact availible on FB or WLM in Text Messaging app
""WP 7 Mango exclusively introduces a new thread system which merges SMS, Windows Live Messenger and Facebook systems into a single messaging thread. Moreover, you can switch back and forth between accounts with messages displayed for all these systems in a single view with an ease of your mind.""
Screenshot of WP7 Messaging is attached, note the "Miles Reid is availible on IM" on the screenshot
What is the easiest way to get FB birthdays to sync onto my calendar. I've seen a few things online, but seeing that we have HTC sense, there must be an easier way. I mean...all the birthdays are in the people app.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI saw some topics here regarding facebook and twitter integration with Android Application.
I need help regarding, is twitter integration with Android App possible in real? [I need to tweet on user's wall and all]
If i wanted to integrate Facebook with my App then whether i go as per explained in following link(and if this is the recommended way then how to implement this SDK):
http://forum.developers.facebook.net/viewtopic.php?pid=146956
or
else i use Android facebook SDK available here on code.google.com
I kind of like how 2.2 includes Facebook events in my calendar, but what I don't like is that everyone's birthday is showing up twice.

View 10 Replies View Relatedi searched for threads [keyword: google apps synch], and results yielded subjects ranging from apps [as in software] to syncing with a gmail account [vs. Google Apps account], and i looked at 'suggested' threads based on my thread title and tags added.does android have a native single sign-on/set-up wizard [vs.3rd party] to sync with my Google Apps domain and its related services [xxx@arirangonline.com] or does wizard only allow for "xxxx@gmail.com" input?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a lot of contacts that are synced with their Facebook profiles and I really like the integration with the phone, especially in the 'People' app.
But I'm confused about how the notifications work. I get periodic notifications about updates from certain people, but when I click this notification it takes me to the People app's group tab, but none of the people who were in the notification show up here as having updates. It's usually just different peoples' birthdays or updates.
I tried refreshing the list here, but it still doesn't pull up any new people usually.
I love the way the Hero's photo album and contact app integrates with Facebook / Flikr. From the album you can go right into you friend's pictures and thumb through them, and from the contacts you can see birthdays, Facebook profile pics, status updates, etc. Is there anything like this available in the market?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to add an quick contact option to the Quick Contact window that displays for a contact. How do I get this option to show up when the user taps on a contact? I looked at the Facebook and Twitter applications and can see that they have this:
Facebook:
CODE:................
Twitter:
CODE:................
First of all, I am not sure that the snippets above are *really* what get used to plug into the quick contacts. It's just an educated guess. I still am at a bit of a loss to figure out exactly how to plug into the quick contact window (for example, which xml/java file did Facebook/Twitter apps use to declare their intent to plug into the quick contact window, declare the icon to show etc?).
I am not specifically interested in Facebook/Twitter, its just that these apps have plugged into the new API successfully. I am just looking for an end to end example (ideally) or simply pointers to how to integrate my contacts sync info into the quick contacts menu.
Am searching for an android launcher with gmail, facebook and twitter integration, I meant just the notification count like in windows 7 or windows 8 phones.Just the notification alone is enough. Any such launcher which can show me missed call counts, unread mail, sms , facebook counts??

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am searching a music player for my android phone. I am looking for a feature where the application will post the song which I am listening on my Facebook account, with the album art of that same song.
I tried with PlayerPro, but it doesnt post the album art. Only the title of the song is diaplayed when I share on Facebook.
I just moved from blackberry to android and I am having some issues with the calendar. My old calendar had individual pop ups for each event, the pop up allowed you to open/snooze/ or dismiss each item individually. Also my old calendar had no trouble syncing my gmail and facebook calendars. Android seems to have trouble doing this seemingly simple task. Is there an app or special calendar that can do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFriends often use gmail chat to message me but I can't seem to find any gchat integration in the phone or a google app for it. Seems rather odd that this is missing from Android considering it's a commonly used Google service. Even the Palm Pre has gchat integration.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHopefully next Thurday I will have 2 Incredibles. I have a google voice account and phone number. Currently mmy wife and I's cellphones both are connected to google voice, however when we call out they still see our number which is fine.
I know when I get the incredible I can set it up to you google voice to dial out and they will see the google voice number. The question is, does this work for 2 phones without screwing up other google services. i.e. I would like if both my wife and I could make outgoing calls through MY google voice number and the other side see the google number, but I want her phone setup with her gmail account etc and mine setup with my gmail account, etc.
Does anyone have this setup currently, or anyone at least know if this is a not possible thing?
I am BRAND new here, and my Incredible showed up last night. I could not be more thrilled! This is my first smartphone (unless you count the LG Dare I had), and I am absolutely FLOORED. However, there is one thing driving me bonkers: Exchange integration.
I've tried about everything on my end. I found another thread where somebody had to have an exception for his account applied in Exchange (which worked for his HTC Hero, IIRC). I work in the IT dept. I'm fairly certain I could talk the network boys into letting me do that, but we can't even find that setting in Exchange 2007. Assuming that is even the problem, they're a little to busy to play with me and my new toy (I think they're just jealous ), and I can't do it myself.
Can anybody confirm whether the security exception is what my actual problem is, and where that setting is in Exchange 2007? If I could get them a little closer to the problem, they'll probably be a little more apt to get around to it.
