My mother-in-law has the best application on her Pre - it's an app that downloads pro sports team schedules to the calendar allowing for notification of upcoming games. I have searched all through the market place and haven't been able to find anything similar other than Sports Tap widget. Has anyone seen anything like this? If not, somebody should develop this. I would think it would be pretty popular.

Anyone used a sports armband with their Moment? There are, of course, dozens made for the iPhone, but I wonder how well those would work with the moment. Some are likely rather generic, but then others are probably custom-fit to the iPhone.

Of course, I have facebook so I integrated it into my phone. Well, all of my FB contacts birthdays were automatically imported into my calendar. How do I get rid of this? I have absolutely no interest in knowing that today is the birthday of someone my sister went to high school with (ie, random people I'm friends with on FB). I actually went through and deleted a lot of "friends" on Facebook to try to remedy the situation, but their birthdays are still on my calendar. Where can I turn this feature off? I tried manually getting rid of the birthdays on the calendar but my Android ignorance prevents me from doing this too.

Can I somehow display my works exchange calendar, in a different colour, just as simply. Not bothered about mail or contacts really, just the calendar.

The utter lack of any integration between Google Calendar and Google Contacts.
You would think that you could just go to a Contact Record and from that record click on a button to create a Calendar Event. A link would then be created so you could easily call, email, message or navigate to the Contact for whom the event was created.
But no. You can't. Really, to me, this is remarkable for its lameness.
If you want to add email addresses of attendees to a meeting in Google Calendar, you must type them in from memory! There is no button to click which lets you select from a list of your Contacts and have the email control populated automatically. This, my friends, is PATHETIC.
Palm did this well 10 years ago.
C'mon Google, seriously, what the heck is up with that?
There is just one app that comes close to getting this right, "ContactEvent" and it's free in the Marketplace. Still, that is only half of what the functionality should be.
So I absolutely love Astrid, but it's missing one key feature for me. Calendar integration. I need the tasks to synchronize with the Android calendar.
Does such an app exist? Preferably one that is similar to Astrid?
I am pretty sure that in ICS when a calendar event had a registered location, you could click on the location triggering the maps app to show you where it is on the map. I've noticed that in Jelly Bean this link was disappeared. The location is shown under the title of the event but you can't click to view it on the map. Is this happening to your phones too?

Alright, I recently upgraded to a Samsung Moment. I used to have a Palm Centro and loved it. I do love my Samsung Moment but it's so hard to find correct answers to my questions...
Calendar: When you add an event into the calender on the Month view there is a notification on there (in green) that there's an event on the a specific day. Questions: is there a way to change that color for different events?
Photos: In my gallery, I want to make separate folders for specific pictures. Is there a way to make specific folders?
Email: Is there a way to delete multiple emails at one time?
Wallpaper: There are 3 screens on the Samsung Moment. Is there a way to make the 3 individual screens different backgrounds? I would like different backgrounds for the different screens....
I really like this phone a whole lot better with the exception of one thing. The default calendar theme sucks. With regards to the apps out there that allow you to theme, which ones do not drain the battery if any? I am using this for work so I am trying to get something that looks pleasing to eye while at the same time not degrading my battery life. Any suggestions? I sure do like the keyboard better than the Hero's. Even after calibrating the Hero KB this one is much more responsive and I have fewer errors typing.

Why would that have happened? Can i get it back to a white background?

I have had my Android since February, and finding a calendar that works for me has been a big problem - so, I decided to join this forum.My problems are two-fold.
1 - I have a Samsung Moment, and the calendar is black with white letters. It is VERY hard to read. Is there a way to change the color?
2 - Entering events takes so long that I usually just write an appointment on a piece of paper and enter it through Outlook later.
Is there an app that anybody can think of that allows a user to enter an event just by touching the screen and typing? Like Palm or even Outlook allows? That is so easy. I've tried IRT Calendar, Jorte, and various widgets, but nothing makes entering events easier. They all fix my first problem - they make it easier to read.. I can't stand the process of adding "new event", then selecting the date, time, naming the event, etc.
I've now had and used my Samsung Moment for a full month now, and I have to say this is the best phone I have ever used.
I carry multiple smartphones on me, usually a Blackberry of some sort, Palm Treos / Centros, iPhone, and now my Samsung Moment. While all the smartphones are really good, the Samsung Moment has been really great.
Despite all the complaints you read here, I have only had a couple of minor annoyances:
1. The Google Calendar widget doesn't default to the current day when you click on it. I have accidentally entered appointments for "today" when I realize a bit later that it was on another day that I had scrolled to previously. I hope there will be a setting to always display the current day in the future.
2. I use Astrid to sync my to do list with Remember The Milk. Anytime I add a new task if I'm using the physical keyboard, and slide it shut and go to the portrait mode for the virtual keyboard, somehow my text is wiped clean and I have to start from scratch again.
The battery life is excellent. Based on my moderate use, I easily get 2-3 days out of my phone, which is as good as my Palm Centro or my Blackberries.So glad I have this phone, can't wait for future updates though to play with.
I'm going to ask a SHORTENED version of my question FIRST because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had SEEN A SETTING that I believe fixes my problem but I CANNOT REMEMBER where it is or how to get to it!
In short, the problem I am having is that NON-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are NOT SHOWING in the Moment calendar app.
There was a SETTINGS PAGE...not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu...that gave you the option of choosing to show events "BEFORE" a certain date and to show events "AFTER" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively. NON-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but NON-recurring ONE-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do NOT SHOW. Does ANYONE know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it?
If NOT, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what i am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again!
Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc.
I did some troubleshooting of the problem and THIS is what I have figured out...WEIRD!!!...here goes:
It appears that the calendar on the Moment is ONLY showing RECURRING EVENTS...birthdays, anniversaries...ANYTHING where the event is set to recur some time in the future.
The non-recurring events...a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app!
I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am CERTAIN that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now RECURRING event shows in the Moment calendar app. REMOVE the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and WHOOSH, disappears again!
The other odd thing is that "old" NON-recurring events that have ALREADY PASSED do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does NOT show.
Now I can UNDERSTAND why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on EITHER your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. HOWEVER, it DOES make sense and IS IMPORTANT to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask, "what day was that appointment with so-and-so company??" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor?? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went.
The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events...they are ALL VISIBLE online back YEARS AND YEARS. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?
I am considering this phone for my daughter, but also looking at the Droid 2. I have the Droid and my wife has the Dinc, so I want to stick with Android. My question is whether the Fascinate handles Gmail integration the same as our phones. I know Bing is the search engine, but what about mail and the calendar. Are these still Google-integrated?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to pick up a Captivate in the next couple days out of contract, hoping an Android phone will give me better Google Apps Premier integration compared to my BB 9700. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on Premier users and Android phones, but I'm trying to figure out if the 2 really play well with each other or not. Does anyone here have any experience with this? I've read on a few places that the only way people are getting good integration between phone and Premier is when they use their Premier email to initially set up their phone (which would then become the account holding Marketplace purchases). I don't want to do this since my Premier email is my work email, and I don't want to tie personal purchases (apps in the marketplace) to a work email address I won't own forever.
Has anyone successfully added their Premier email account After they've configured their phone with a default email account? (if that makes any sense). Ideally, I'd like to have my Captivate set up with my personal gmail account by default. Then I'd like to set up my work email (Premier). I'm hoping that if I do this, I'd have my calendar and contacts syncing to my phone from BOTH my personal and work email. Is this something that seems viable? I started looking into Android phones thinking Google Phone to Google Mail would have flawless integration, but haven't found any evidence of that so far.
Here I am with 2 HTC Hero phones, with only one on an active account. I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection. There are no scratches or rub marks on it, never been dropped and I have reset it to Factory Specs via the SECURITY MENU and the ESN is clear and ready to be activated on your SPRINT account.Please email me at sy@rayzel.com if you are interested. Have successfully imported my old calendar to Google Calendar which initially synced with the calendar on my captivate. However, when I add a new event to my phone calendar, it does not automatically show up on the Google calendar. the Samsung rep told me I have to edit each new even to mark it as a "Google Calendar". Is there any way to make this the default option on the Captivate phone? I am hoping to have automatic syncronization b/t the phone and the Google calendar without having to force it to do so each time.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI played with the Fascinate today for more than an hour at VZW. I LOVE IT. My only question is related to the calendar. On my D1 I have many more widget choices including the calendar. This widget displays on my home screen and always shows my next appointment whether it is today or in a week. The next calender entry always shows. This is not the case for the Fascinate. It has a nice widget that shows weather, stocks, and at the bottom appointments. It only shows today's appointments. I downloaded a calender widget app that was nice and may work but it would not open so I don't know.
Now the question: Can any of you guys with the fascinate comment on a widget that allows the widget to display the next entry on the calendar. To be clear on my D1, if I have no calendar entries for today, my 10am meeting tomorrow shows up on the widget with a time and date. Can one do this with the Fascinate.
Recently on Sprint's Moment forum a member by the name Mkeng5 has been posting pretty vocal complaints about the Samsung Moment. Not only does he claim the Moment is defective, but he goes a step further and even cites Samsung's own Warranty Policy.

Don't get me wrong, webOS is clean and has a lot of potential, but for now...lacking would be a good (albeit understated) word to describe it. I want to jump the Pre ship for the Samsung Moment, but one thing I keep reading about the Moment is bothering me - everyone says it doesn't have multi-touch. However, I recently read that multi-touch is something Android doesn't yet support. This knowledge was previously unbeknownst to me since I haven't used an Android device since the G1 first launched. Since the Moment uses a standard Android build, the OS wouldn't allow multi-touch even if the phone were capable of it. So my question is: Does anyone know whether or not the Moment is capable of multi-touch? If it's simple a shortcoming of Android, I can deal with it since I know Android 2.0 should finally support it.

A previous thread states you have to choose "google calendar" when generating an event on the calendar on the phone, however, when I try to edit the event, under "Calendar" the setting is "My calendar" but I can't change the setting (tapping on it does nothing)
