View 1 Repliesso this may be a dumb question, but how do i update the boot loader or recovery. I'm using clockwork, and m assuming there's probably been an update for it. ive read about amon ra or something? sorry if I'm incorrect. I am just not sure if my phone is wiping dalvik correctly.
View 31 Replies View Relatedok, so I put the PB31IMG file on my sdcard, and the dinc_ota. I changed dinc_ota to update. (I did not name the file update.zip.zip) I powered down, I entered bootloader, and it loaded the PB31IMG and whatever. then I hit volume down and selected recovery. this brought me to clockwork recovery. I noticed the isntructions said to boot into STOCK recovery. well, I like a dummy ignored that and tried to apply the update.zip thru clockwork.
This is what I got:
CODE:.......................
So, is this because I tried doing it through clockwork recovery? is it because I didn't apply the first OTA update we got? what does that mean exactly anyways? is it saying I need to install the leaked froyo ROM, and then update the radio? How do I boot into stock recovery and not clockworks recovery? does this count as applying the update.zip once, meening if I do it again I'll brick my phone? should I sell this thing and get a samsung flip phone because I'm too stupid to own a Dinc?
Like the motorola milestone does?
View 25 Replies View RelatedI have a fascinat and I am trying to use a one step root and my bootloader wont open. The directions say to push volume up and power, but this doesnt work. So does anyone have any idea, or have you had this problem? Please help me out.
View 15 Replies View RelatedWell since ive installed 2.1 it was fine all last night and now... all hell has broken loose on my phone. i get the file space low notification, all widgits on home screens are all messed up and out of whack, smaller icons are randomly being deleted... has anyone else experienced this. i have now done 3 factory resets and reinstalled 2.1 twice since last night its still doing the same thing... cleared cache, and did factory reset through bootloader.
View 35 Replies View RelatedSo as the title states my Droid has some major water damage, but after about 30 min of low heat in my oven and a few more hours of drying it now powers on. Problem it is stuck on the bootloader. So my question is do you guys think I screwed up whatever part of the phone that stores the ROM, does it need more dry time (this only happened about 4 hours ago), or should I just try reinstalling my ROMS off my SD card without waiting any longer? I'm planning on giving it another cycle of heat/dry time then reflashing everything but don't really want to go through all the hassle.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWe all talk about the issues with the signed boot loader and not being able to create roms. Is anyone good even working on this? I haven't seem any Dev's even on here discussing plans. Are we all waiting around for nothing or is it being worked on?
View 13 Replies View RelatedWas trying to go back to 2.1 from 2.2. RSD flash failed, had to unplug phone. Now the boot loader screen says CODE CORRUPT and Cannot Program. I can only get this message when plugged into the wall charger. If i plug into USB to PC i get just a green light where the power light is any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyone know if the Droid X is gonna launch with a signed or unsigned boot-loader? If its signed I'll seriously consider passing on this phone for something thats gonna have an active mod community.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI followed that totally guide to rooting and i want to do the boot screen that it shows but i dont see the adk recovery option when i boot my phone into recovery? i did the sdk think like it said but maybe it didnt work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a full wipe, including cache, and got stuck in a boot loop. I pulled the battery, and when I hold down the volume and power button to boot into recovery so I can restore, the phone vibrates three times very quickly, then nothing. I can turn it on and go into boot loop, but that's it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was running Virtuous 2.6 and I decided to run some tests with task killers/force closing apps, etc and wanted to get back to the stock 2.1. I downgraded to 2.1 just fine, installed the May OTA update, and went to install 2.2 with the PB31IMG.zip file. Instead of the bootloader giving me the option to update, it simply says 'parsing' for about 2 seconds and then goes back to the HBoot menu.
Now when I reboot the phone, it will only boot into recovery and nothing else. I put the 2.1 downgrade back on to the sdcard and tried updating again and it just says 'parsing' and doesn't work.
My interest in more space got me to the apps2sd+ faq from this forum. I rooted my phone yesterday with unrevoked and, assumed it could install this ROM for me
[URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997"][ROM] [15/11]
Pre-rooted Stock Froyo (2.10.405.2) [Optional mods] - xda-developers[/URL
But this is a zip file, unrevoked does only img files. I don't understand how to install the ROM from xda-developers.com, or the mods. The forum said install in recovery, how? When I tried to format partition my SD card, from ROM manager, the phone reboots into this recovery console thing, now what? When I reboot my phone out of there, nothing has happened to my SD card.
I recently rooted and installed sirpsychos 99.1 recovery console. However I need to upgrade to 99.2b since thats the one most current ROMS need to run. How is this possible? I was not able to find a tutorial for upgrading the recovery console.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was messing around with root explorer and noticed that i was able to delete my boot animation with it when i was mounted as R/W so i thought i would try to copy one and it also works... so no need to push with adb shell.. here are the steps
1. take the boot animation make sure it is named bootanimation.zip and copy it to your SD card
2. then open root explore and mount R/W and then navigate to the file and press on file till the menu comes up and select copy
3. then navigate to data/local and paste the file in the local directory
and you are done, this can be done with the android_audio.mp3 file as well just paste it to the same place.
just thought this would make it easier for people instead of using adb shell

Anyway to return everything to stock for warranty work? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to understand android boot sequence on my JB (under CM10). I found some docs and there should be specific partitions (boot, recovery, system, cache, data).
My understanding of the boot sequence is now:
A) normal boot:
1) Power ON ->
2) bootloader ->
3) boot-partition where i flashed the kernel aka boot.img ->
4a) system-partition with the OS (libs, UI, etc) where i unpacked over CWM my customROM.zip ->
4b) data-partition, where i unpacked google-apps.zip and installed all the apps ->
4c) cache-partition with user data
B) recovery boot (adb reboot recovery):
1) Power ON ->
2) bootloader ->
3) recovery-partition with CWM where i may unpack all the .zip stuff to proper partitions, or restore from sdcard, etc.
Is this correct? I wonder, because i didn't installed CWM into recovery-partition. It cames from install of CM10 (fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img), so it must be in boot-partition and not in recovery?
So, next confusion: i looked up to /proc/mtd and i don't see neither boot nor recovery partition here:
Quote:
# cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 19000000 00040000 "system"
mtd1: 00600000 00040000 "appslog"
mtd2: 06580000 00040000 "cache"
mtd3: 1a400000 00040000 "userdata"
I did a backup with CWM and loocked the data. There aren't boot, and recovery backups:
Quote:
# ls -lha /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-10-04.18.49.55/
d---rwxr-x 2 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:56 .
d---rwxr-x 3 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:49 ..
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 1.6K Oct 4 18:54 .android_secure.vfat.dup
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 54.6M Oct 4 18:55 cache.yaffs2.img
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 360.2M Oct 4 18:53 data.yaffs2.img
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 212 Oct 4 18:56 nandroid.md5
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 214.6M Oct 4 18:51 system.yaffs2.img

So, i think i didn't understand the boot sequence and partition schema corectly.
Just wanted to start a quick FAQ for those users who havn't had a chance to toy around with the Linux console which is what the Android OS is based off of.
1. Commands like 'cat' 'mv' 'rm' are not working, why?
Chances are that these commands currently dont reside on your path, which is common when you start the phone in recovery mode. To remedy this, enter the following in your console

I tried installing Tranquility and must have screwed something up because now my phone won't boot past the Motorola Logo. It's been sitting here like this for about 15min and I can't even boot into recovery by holding the power and home buttons. I don't know what else to do now. Idk if my phone is bricked but even if it is don't I need the SBF file to unbrick it and I can't find that file any where. I did a nand backup or whatever before doing any of this so hopefully that can help me. What should I do now?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI reflashed back to stock recovery to try a different rom and now I can't seem to boot into recovery. I was using velocity 0.2 with the JIT OC kernel and rom manager using the clockwork mod recovery. after flashing back to VS740ZV6_01 and rerooting and reapplying the clockwork mod recovery I cant seem to load any new roms or backups because the phone hangs at lg screen on reboot. have to pull the battery and it will then reboot normally but no recovery. also trying to hard reset results in hanging at lg screen. in addition, market app is missing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my S4 rooted and everything seems correct. I then installed Rom Manager so I could start demoing some of the ROMs out there. Went through all the steps to flash Rom manager as the recovery but I cannot get my recovery to go to CWM, it just keeps going to the stock android recovery. I have googled the crap out of this and am coming up with nothing. in fact I have written several android apps but this just does not work.
My device is a Verizon Samsung S4 model SCH-I545 running android version 4.2.2 Kernal: 3.3.0-690088se.infra@S0210-13#1
