Anyone know if the Droid X is gonna launch with a signed or unsigned boot-loader? If its signed I'll seriously consider passing on this phone for something thats gonna have an active mod community.

We all talk about the issues with the signed boot loader and not being able to create roms. Is anyone good even working on this? I haven't seem any Dev's even on here discussing plans. Are we all waiting around for nothing or is it being worked on?

1. Compile the application in release mode 2. Obtain a suitable private key 3. *Sign* the application with your private key
But then it continues:
"To prepare your application for release...To export an unsigned .apk from Eclipse, right-click the project in the Package Explorer and select Android Tools > Export Unsigned Application Package."
But below this under "Compiling and signing with Eclipse ADT" it says to "To create a signed .apk, right-click the project in the Package Explorer and select Android Tools > Export Signed Application Package...When you complete the Export Wizard, you'll have a signed .apk that's ready for distribution"
Do I need my app signed or unsigned for distribution on market place?
Like the motorola milestone does?
View 25 Replies View RelatedWell since ive installed 2.1 it was fine all last night and now... all hell has broken loose on my phone. i get the file space low notification, all widgits on home screens are all messed up and out of whack, smaller icons are randomly being deleted... has anyone else experienced this. i have now done 3 factory resets and reinstalled 2.1 twice since last night its still doing the same thing... cleared cache, and did factory reset through bootloader.
View 35 Replies View RelatedSo as the title states my Droid has some major water damage, but after about 30 min of low heat in my oven and a few more hours of drying it now powers on. Problem it is stuck on the bootloader. So my question is do you guys think I screwed up whatever part of the phone that stores the ROM, does it need more dry time (this only happened about 4 hours ago), or should I just try reinstalling my ROMS off my SD card without waiting any longer? I'm planning on giving it another cycle of heat/dry time then reflashing everything but don't really want to go through all the hassle.

I can only get this message when plugged into the wall charger. If i plug into USB to PC i get just a green light where the power light is any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

New Moto Droid X here. When attempting to install the new 5.0 version of "My Verizon" app I get this error when installing. "Installation error, Package was not signed correctly. I have rebooted and all that good stuff still not working. And there is no way to uninstall and reinstall being that this app comes factory on the x.

So far I have simply installed the application by connecting the tester's device on my pc and hit run in the IDE. This way we waste a lot of time if an application has to be installed on multiple devices multiple times daily.
What I would like is to send the testing team the .apk file and let them install and run the application by themselves.
Does anyone know what's the best way to do it?
i just installed an update to google maps. then i tried to open the maps and a screen popped up that says: Installation error: package file was not signed correctly.
This same exact thing popped up in google maps when i first opened it after flashing to smoked glass v6. but it worked fine. this time though it just made me reinstall google maps and it will not install. whats going on?
My phone won't boot into recovery. Will they give me a new phone for this. Or will they get suspicious?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried installing Tranquility and must have screwed something up because now my phone won't boot past the Motorola Logo. It's been sitting here like this for about 15min and I can't even boot into recovery by holding the power and home buttons. I don't know what else to do now. Idk if my phone is bricked but even if it is don't I need the SBF file to unbrick it and I can't find that file any where. I did a nand backup or whatever before doing any of this so hopefully that can help me. What should I do now?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I got my X yesterday. about 20 minutes in to downloading my apps the phone locks up and goes into a boot loop. I was having a mini panic attack right there in the middle of Sam's club! I finally get into the menu and perform a facotry reset. Problem solved? No It powers back up and as I'm going thru the activation process, the phone reboots again! WTF! I wait for it to come back on and I finally get it activated. Well as I'm going thru the menu checking the settings it reboots AGAIN. So all in all last night it randomly rebooted about 15 times while I was doing something different almost everytime.

Secondly it asks to copy a file in the systems folder, can i pull this from a nandroid backup? I love the boot animation from smoke themed liq frozen yogurt, just not the ROM itself.

Everything runs fine after that, but it seems to take a long time. I am using Launcher Pro, but didn't have this problem before. View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to reboot my Droid because it was lagging a little and when it came back on it go stuck at the Cyanogen boot screen. I pulled the battery, put it back in and held the X to boot in recovery and my recovery won't come up either. It just skips right to the Motorola M and if it doesn't get stuck there it goes back to the Cyanogen screen.
I haven't made any changes to the phone at all so I am completely puzzled on why this is happening. I obviously can't take it back to Verizon since its rooted so if there is a way to fix this I really want to because I love my phone and my wife will kill me if it is screwed up.
I apologize profusely for this, but I cannot seem to find it through search. I am looking for the download for the official 2.1 so that I can overwrite my v3 leak. Can anyone point me to the thread with the download?

I flash and then I install the ROM and everything goes well until the boot up screen. It gets stuck in a loop of the Droid and Droid Eye animation and I have to restore it. Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I am using the Droid with Froyo, rooted using Easy Root.

All you had to do was push the new file to the boot animation location and it would over ride the old one. I really want custom boot animations on my X but am not rooted. View 3 Replies View RelatedI was on 2.2 rooted on my droid x. Attempted to install a replacement for the taskbar. The phone is stuck in a boot loop now. I've read about 5,000 different pages saying just use RSD. It all starts by saying; plug the phone in, let the computer detect it, install the drivers.. This is where I'm stuck. The only thing I have access to is the recovery console and the big endless loop. So at no point the phone turns on to the point where the PC will detect it as a device.

1.Dont you have to root to be able to upgrade to a different software type? I rooted before in stalling greek35 2.1, then upgraded to HC2.1, do i have to reroot?
2. Rooting is just, using the update.zip file you download, then using droidroothelp.apk program, mount3, update those 3 things, flash 15.0, rename, reboot ect...so basically as long as you have SU app on your phone your rooted no?
Now boot animation question
I downloaded a boot animation, connected my phone with usb debugging, used the cd command and abd push bootanimation.zip /data/local, rebooted and the boot animation didnt change..after i used the push command, it said x.xkb transfered in 1.23seconds or whatever...any suggestions?
[Droid X 2.2 No Root] For some reason sometimes when I'm using the camera or when I try to launch the camera, It fails. For example, I try to open a black screen flashes or the camera opens for a moment and closes. Sometimes it works, others it refuses to even after all running apps are closed, the phone restarted, and after a battery pull. This is not a shutter stick problem.

Last week i woke up to my Droid playing a YouTube video from a website-a car chase with police which scared me awake and i tried to get it to stop playing which it did. I settled down and after a few minutes while trying to go back to sleep i heard the voice command asking me "which number?" and it began dialing some number. Well i stopped that and turned the phone off and on again and went back to sleep. Last night I heard it again asking me "which number" and it called my wife's cell phone!
Each incident happened around 3:30 AM.

This morning 09/17/2010 5:20 EST i was awakened by a video playing on my Droid X! When i go to sleep i place the X face down on the night stand whit the charger plugged in. Anyone else have this experience?
