Has anyone heard anything from htc or verizon about the lag some of us have after the update? My phone is generally just slower and seems to stutter a lot more.text msgs is a joke with how laggy it is to read and type them.I was messing around with a friends nexus1 and it was way faster than my incredible This is all after a factory reset etc.I am hesitant to do a reset again since I will lose everything once more.

With 2.2 we got the market feature to update all which will just update all of the apps that have outstanding updates in the market.
What I cannot figure out is how to stop one particular app from updating, specifically I do not want to update the Facebook app since there are many reviews saying it is a big battery drainer and I do not use the app anyway.
Also, anytime I download a new app from the market, it automatically starts the download of the Facebook update, so I have to cancel it or if I don't catch it in time I have to uninstall the update. For both instances it just appears in my update queue again and I have the same problem next time.
So basic question is: Is there any way to select an app to not automatically update with the update all feature, or can we turn off the update all feature?

Does it really make a difference which way I do it? If I do it manually, will I be able to get the next OTA update the "normal" way?

After reading all the horror stories and people having problems from unreadable SD cards, to bad batteries, to laggy response, browsers not working, etc. It is making me nervous as to whether or not to update to 2.2. I got the update this morning but have not yet installed it because I'm debating what to do. I would just hate to update it and have something go wrong or to have to update it and then do a factory reset and lose everything. So what is everyone else's opinion. I mean, I feel as though a lot of the people that are having problems either downloaded the update file manually or had a different ROM or were rooted or something. I haven't done any of that so I'm thinking I'd be fine but I'm still hesitant on chancing it.

Loving the Jager 1.1 ROM. Just wondering if it is ok to due the OTA that keeps popping up? It is the 3.6 MB update that I believe dropped a while ago. I have just kept pressing install later. Any one know if it is ok to do this OTA update?

1. Is it true that HTC will not update the OS? IE it comes with 2.1 but you cannot get 2.2? - if so, why?
2. I have read the bars are low, poor radio - which shocks me at VZW.

Im still slightly confused on the subject of rooting. all I want to be able to do is wifi tether on my incredible. Can you root without having a different rom? or do you have to use a new one to get the permissions for apps such as wifi tether? basically, can I get wifi tethering while still maintaining my ability to update to 2.2 when it arrives?

I rooted my phone when the root first became available using the "tricky" method...if I just want to get the OTA update directly from verizon when it becomes available, what should I do?
1) Can i get the OTA from verizon even tho I'm rooted?
2) Once the OTA is done can I root again?

Reading all these blogs about the FCC approving the software update to run on 802.11N and the internet browsing picture bug update being released sometime soon, should we not update if we haven't achieved root yet?
Or even if you already have achieved root would this cancel it out?
I don't want to update the software if this update could also close the only loophole known for root.
I know it hasn't been released yet and we don't have a time frame yet but I'm just curious as it could be happening in the near future.

So the new 2.3 update to Gmail that's on the Market now isn't installing. I read somewhere that this could be a problem for root users and that we would need to use Titanium Backup to uninstall Gmail before installing it again.
Has anyone who ran into this problem successfully upgraded their Gmail using Titanium Backup or some other method? How is it done?

Running Ruby 1.1.1(and loving it), and saw the update on my downloads in the market. I update but when it installs, says update unsuccessful. I went into manage apps and cleared data and cache and tried again but no luck.

I got a message that there is an update for Gmail, but it does not show when i sync appbrain, as an update available, but it shows in the market as a new app, and not one already installed. Is this update necessary, or worth it?

My gmail app says that I have new messages, but it won't show the messages, despite my updating the inbox. I tried unsyncing the account, and resyncing it, but that doesn't work either.

Yesterday morning I was happy to see that I had received the 2.2 OTA update. I readily clicked yes to apply, and my (rooted I should probably mention) phone rebooted and and just had the little Android guy next to a triangle with an exclamation point in it. At this point if I pressed any buttons, the Clockwork recovery mod tool popped up. I rebooted the phone and tried again with the same results. Thinking that it might have something to do with my phone being rooted, I followed the steps to unroot it. That went fine, but now when I check it says that my system is up to date and it won't download the OTA. So I even followed the steps to manually apply the 2.2 update, and while in the recovery screen, it fails and says that update.zip has errors or something. I've re downloaded it and have tried everything else that I could think of. Is there any way for me to get my phone to 2.2 now?

I recieved the ota update this morning and tried to install. while the phone did its thing with the power off i would get an exclamation point and with any button press would bring me into clockwork. I have no idea how to get the 2.2 update working and upon reboot of the phone i go to setting and check for software updates and am told it is up to date. If i go to the about phone section I am still running 2.1update1. Is it because my phone is rooted that I can not update? I do not care for root capabilities as my friend did it for me and wireless tether can be done natively. I have done a factory reset twice now but i can not get this froyo update to work.

So I rooted my Incredible last week, played around with CM6, then ended up using my nandroid backup to restore the phone. Everything worked like normal. Yesterday I decided to use the unrevoked forever tool and update my radio to 2.15 and play around with the leaked OTA ROM. Again I restored a nandroid backup to get things back to normal. Now my phone is getting the 2.2 update from Verizon, but when I tell it to install, it starts as normal, but ends up with an error screen with the green android, and a yellow triangle with an exclamation point. From this screen if I push Power I am in ClockworkMod Recovery and able to reboot my phone. Once I reboot my phone I am still running 2.1, and System Updates tells me my phone is up to date.

I have a Verizon Droid incredible which is rooted and running android 2.2. I keep getting an OTA update request from verizon which I keep dismissing but it comes back like 10 times a day. It's really annoying so I tried to just run the update and it freezes. Then I'm back to the annoying update message. How do I make it go away for good?
