wish i could get the pdanet to work for me, can't seem to connect to the internet on the computer, it says its connected but when i try to get to my homepage it says not responding and when i look at the incident report it says APPCRASH, iexplore.exe failed?

I just got the Hero today in the UK and am on the Orange network. On the Home screen i have 4 icons and the 3rd one is browser. If I press it I instantly get a white page (Instantly as in no loading time or attempt to connect to the internet) with black writing. It has loads of symbols and http stuff at the start. Then continues with the message "The page you are trying to access is only available via your orange phone when connected via the orange gprs network.
The part at the start also mentions orange world. If I go into More-Settings-Set Homepage I try and change this to google it shows as google is the Homepage. But again if I launch the browser again I get the white page with black writing. The funny thing is I can connect to the internet no problem by typing in a URL manually. And I am using the orange network for that. I called tech supp for orange and the guy was pretty useless and no joy. Why no homepage, but can browse through URLS's?
When I am using the brorwer and I go to a website, and after I am done looking at whatever it is I looked at I just just hit the home button and it take me out of the browser. Now when I go to use the browser again it pulls up with the last website I was looking at. I hit the menu key and usually have to tap bookmarks and then tap my homescreen bookmark. Is there an alternative way to load my homescreen ?

I have managed to use it to open up webpages including my usual email provider/facebook and have bookmarked them. I have inserted my numbers into the address book (and managed to sync with facebook for photos/birthdays), send SMS, make phone calls but that is it! In simple terms: how can I find apps and download them, does it always work through WiFi, how can I take things off the homepage (I have managed to install the (empty) playlist to the homepage but cannot remove it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had the hero for about a month now, great phone but today some issues arose. When I launch the browser, my home page is google. However it google now loads in Spanish and none of the links will work (thee get highlighted but doesn't take me any where). The same is true for any of my bookmarks, the site loads but is missing images etc., seems to be all text etc., and none of the links work. I've already cleared everything, cache, history passwords etc., and even tried inputting new sites and tried loading them, same scenario, site loads but no images, format is different and links don't work. All other apps work, gmail, calendar etc.

I know you can customize and add pages of icons but can any of those become the default page your phone powers up to? I'd want to remove the HTC Date-Clock-Weather banner and just have a plain wallpaper-type screen with a couple icons on it .
View 5 Replies View RelatedOk, first of all I am using one program right now called "easy tether" but i had pdanet and it worked fine on the trial part, that expired and I tired to connect to it and kept getting an error code "633" so I thought it was just because it was the trial program and not the real thing so I purchased the damn thing and I still can't get it up and running. I didn't mind paying for it as I said it ran pretty good before and just thought I would stick with it but I can't seem to get it up and running. I downloaded the easy tether and it runs good too but since I paid for pdanet I would like to at least try and see if I can get it up and running so can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong by getting that code? If I can't get it going I need to request a refund and I am out of town right now and that is why I need it so I can access the internet while I am gone, I can't go a month without internet!!! So can someone try and explain if they can what might be going on for pdanet not to run. Like I said I am using the easy-tether right now as we speak but it is a trial version too so don't want to have to pay for another one to avoid not being able to access secure sites.

This is why I always seem to regret trying out any villain ROMs. Always some errors that creep up & folks say they are stable. Is their a way to correct this? Maybe I should try sence build 5. Cause sence 2.2 was good but I wanted to try the new villain.

After I tune in to a station that I like and leave my phone, I will notice that my music has stopped playing. But, (sometimes) when I come back to my phone, the music will start back up. Then again, more times than none, when I come back to the phone, the program has stopped responding and I will have to restart the entire program.

Have tried resetting the caches (x2) in Applications and it will eventually re-sync (but maybe only on wireless), however new mail still does not arrive. Have powered off, etc. as you would expect. Is anyone else seeing this? I'm based in London using Three. Any ideas how I can kick it back into life?

For instance, I can type in a google search, but I can't click on any of the results, but I can click on the "Options" tab next to each hyperlink. As I click on these links, they will become underlined, but nothing happens. I tried a factory reset on calibration and that did not work.

It happened to me last week, I set the alarm early for work but it failed to go off. Luckily for me I was already awake and thought I had set it wrong. I forgot all about it... Until this morning when it did the same again. I did a test on the alarm and set it go to off after a couple if minutes to test if it was working and it this time it went off properly?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith any other phone, if an SMS fails to send due to no signal, it stays in the outbox, and is automatically retried when there's a signal again.
So why not on Hero? I tried to send a message just now, it failed. When I find a signal... nothing happens. MOREOVER, when I bring up the failed message, and hit SEND, it says "invalid content"... I eventaully worked out this is because it doesn't think I'm re-sending the failed message, it thinks I'm trying to "REPLY" to it with a fresh message.
Is there any way to resolve this very basic issue?
As title says, today i updated my GSM hero with Froydvillain 1.5, hours of playing around, installing a kernel (All well and good) i decide to install the latest radio update, as the one i had was ancient. Followed instructions to the letter, waited until Formatting Cache was complete (left the room and was gone for 5 minutes, looked at for a bit longer and no status bar, assume it completed) Reboot phone and now it's just sitting on the 'HERO' part of startup, what do i do? I had an urge to pull the battery, but i'm not sure if it's 'okay' at this point, since instructions specifically said NOT to.

I understand the GMail Sync is there for me also, well i see i have apparently established an account when i first got the phone. The settings show it does sync with Google (show's last sync time stamp etc) but how do i view my account if i don't remember sign-in/password? I think i would need to start a new one (GMail Account) and this time save the log-in data.Two questions:
1. Can i retrieve from my phone the original Gmail info that is currently there?
2. If i need to create a new account; how to change it in the phone

My Hero is frequently haven't problems with failed SMS messages. It's increased since I upgraded the handset to Three's official 2.1 upgrade, although it had a habit of failing messages when it was running 1.5, too.
Three have swapped my handset because of previous issues with it, so it would appear to be a network/ Android issue.
I flashed from the old Fresh 1.1 to its latest ROM. I followed the instructions step by step. Now when my hero boots up i get "Sorry the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly please try again." and "Sorry the process com.google.process.gapps has stooped." Then i get the "Complete action using" screen HTC Sense or Launcher. It seems like if i click HTC Sense i keep getting the Force Quit but if i select Launcher i get to the home screen but cant place phone calls......
View 10 Replies View RelatedIt's getting quite annoying that I can't rely on my phone's alarm clock. I haven't had a separate alarm clock for years and I don't feel like buying it now. I can't really understand why the alarm does not work. It is like the phone gets into a sleeping mode and alarm clock stops working. Another sign is Astro player stops between songs and does not resume until I wake up the phone.

None of the posts seemed to have a fix and based on the comments of users who'd contacted HTC, they don't have a fix either. I don't want to beat a dead issue but how am I supposed to sync my phone and computer? Anyone know of another program that I could use in place of HTC Sync?
