May 12, 2010Have this prob while getting a sms pic it just keeps loading then it says unsuccessful can anyone diagnose this problem?

May 4, 2009I want to display a fancy 'loading' image at my app's startup time.
The problem: my startup code is mostly GUI related, hence needs to run on UI thread.
Is there a way to do both - that is run UI-related code on UI thread while an image is displayed to the user?
HTC Hero :: Set Alarm But It Failed To Go Off
Dec 16, 2009It happened to me last week, I set the alarm early for work but it failed to go off. Luckily for me I was already awake and thought I had set it wrong. I forgot all about it... Until this morning when it did the same again. I did a test on the alarm and set it go to off after a couple if minutes to test if it was working and it this time it went off properly?

Dec 9, 2009I got the message for the OTA update today. After it downloaded nothing happened. I try looking at Settings>About Phone>System Update, but my phone does not that "System Update". My Firmware is 1.5, and my Software Version reads 1.0.0.A6288. Build Number is 2.73.751.4 146733 CL#61205 release-keys. Why didn't my phone update?

May 21, 2010With any other phone, if an SMS fails to send due to no signal, it stays in the outbox, and is automatically retried when there's a signal again.
So why not on Hero? I tried to send a message just now, it failed. When I find a signal... nothing happens. MOREOVER, when I bring up the failed message, and hit SEND, it says "invalid content"... I eventaully worked out this is because it doesn't think I'm re-sending the failed message, it thinks I'm trying to "REPLY" to it with a fresh message.
Is there any way to resolve this very basic issue?
HTC Hero :: Problem Loading Gadget - Now On Screen
Nov 21, 2010I recently did some update on my Hero, and now on the home screen, one of my widgets just has a black rectangular box that inside says "Problem loading gadget".
I did an internet search and see that I need to load it to internal memory. I've gone to Settings, then Applications, then Manage applications...but can find nothing when I click on an widget where I can load to internal memory. How do I do that? or.....how do I get rid of this "Problem loading gadget" box (and I don't even remember what it was).

Jan 21, 2010If i root my sprint htc hero the way unlockr.com says and load a fresh, when 2,1 comes out, will i be able to update to it? i know it probably been answered a thousand times on here, bu ti havent found it. also i hear about nandroid backup. how do i do that, and does it restore to factory settings or can you you choose a specific restore point? thanks in advance. i have to say also the hero is soooooooooo much better than the moment. i had the samsung for about 2 weeks, and was wanting to go to bb, but i read all the great posts on here abou the hero, so i went with it, and couldnt be happier

Sep 2, 2010I changed roms after backing up the one I was using and the new rom didn't load all my contacts. So I wiped it again and tried to reload the same new rom. Got even less contacts. So I wiped that and tried to load the nandroid b/up and for some reason, I got the old rom I was using but it was like it was a fresh install of that rom. So I have to set everything up again *sigh*, but it still didn't load all my contacts. Oddly enough, the ones missing are the ones I use most frequently. A quick check on google mail shows they are still there. Any advice?

Sep 13, 2010As title says, today i updated my GSM hero with Froydvillain 1.5, hours of playing around, installing a kernel (All well and good) i decide to install the latest radio update, as the one i had was ancient. Followed instructions to the letter, waited until Formatting Cache was complete (left the room and was gone for 5 minutes, looked at for a bit longer and no status bar, assume it completed) Reboot phone and now it's just sitting on the 'HERO' part of startup, what do i do? I had an urge to pull the battery, but i'm not sure if it's 'okay' at this point, since instructions specifically said NOT to.

May 5, 2010I need some guidence please. I've been on a mission to sync my contacts to my PC and have failed. I understand the GMail Sync is there for me also, well i see i have apparently established an account when i first got the phone. The settings show it does sync with Google (show's last sync time stamp etc) but how do i view my account if i don't remember sign-in/password? I think i would need to start a new one (GMail Account) and this time save the log-in data.Two questions:
1. Can i retrieve from my phone the original Gmail info that is currently there?
2. If i need to create a new account; how to change it in the phone
In my search for contact back-ups i stumbled upon the Microsoft My Phone, has anyone had any experience with this?
HTC Hero :: Message Sending Failed On 3(UK) 2.1
Sep 3, 2010My Hero is frequently haven't problems with failed SMS messages. It's increased since I upgraded the handset to Three's official 2.1 upgrade, although it had a habit of failing messages when it was running 1.5, too.
Three have swapped my handset because of previous issues with it, so it would appear to be a network/ Android issue.
Sprint HTC Hero :: Fresh 2.0 Failed ?
Apr 22, 2010I flashed from the old Fresh 1.1 to its latest ROM. I followed the instructions step by step. Now when my hero boots up i get "Sorry the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly please try again." and "Sorry the process com.google.process.gapps has stooped." Then i get the "Complete action using" screen HTC Sense or Launcher. It seems like if i click HTC Sense i keep getting the Force Quit but if i select Launcher i get to the home screen but cant place phone calls......

Feb 24, 2010It's getting quite annoying that I can't rely on my phone's alarm clock. I haven't had a separate alarm clock for years and I don't feel like buying it now. I can't really understand why the alarm does not work. It is like the phone gets into a sleeping mode and alarm clock stops working. Another sign is Astro player stops between songs and does not resume until I wake up the phone.

None of the posts seemed to have a fix and based on the comments of users who'd contacted HTC, they don't have a fix either. Oct 27, 2009I am attempting to upgrade my ROM from the 1.7v. I dl'd the RUU file and did everything as required. However, when the bootloader tries to connect I get a prompt, "ERROR[171]:USB Connection ERROR". It asks me to make sure that the phone is connected to the USB cable and for the USB cable to be connected to the PC. Both are connected but I noticed that the phone is powered off. It will not power back on while connected. It will once I disconnect it from USB cable. This leads me to believe that the phone starts to do what it is supposed to but somehow disconnects.

May 22, 2010So I did the upgrade at home, no problem, then loaded My Back up from the market, and reloaded my apps and data from my SD card. I got all the way to load HTC home (109 items). At item 107, force closed pops up. Now when it goes to load the home page it's an endless cyle of forced closed.
Took it to the Sprint store, nothing they can do but reload the 2.1, come back in 2 hours . I do, go home and run threw all these steps again, but this time without loading the task killer app (store recomendation). Same results!

I followed the tutorial that's how I was able to do 5.3, but don't matter. How many times I download it 10.2 just keeps coming up with the same message when I try to flash it, usual the file it claims is corrupted is different for different downloads, never had this before with any flashing I've done.

Mar 18, 2010My Hero is going haywire. I was trying to download some apps from the market today and they don't want to start. So I rebooted my phone to see if it made any difference. Now when it starts up I get error messages that the com.android.phone and a few others are not working and have to force a close. I have no service either. All the installed apps and components are working but not phone itself. I am with Cellular South in Mississippi and my wife has a Hero also which is working normally so I know it's not a network issue.

Sep 27, 2010In the past few days, ive noticed that when i delete an email on my phone, it doesnt actually delete it from my gmail, as i can still log into my computer and the emails are still there and unread. Then i noticed today that i cant send email from the phone. I have 2 emails that have been "sending" for the past hour. Ive tried both over 3g and wifi, neither worked. Im on the 9/25 nightly, a somewhat recent gapps (not sure of the date), but just upgraded the gmail through the market. Any ideas?

If you've been following this guide you will see your phone's serial number. If you get "device not found" error, you either need to make sure you the drivers were properly installed or make sure you enable USB debugging AFTER you connect the USB cable. Continue on once you get the proper phone serial output.
3: Code:adb push asroot2 /data/local/
4: Code:adb shell
5: Code:chmod 0755 /data/local/asroot2
6: Code:/data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh You should see an output that says: $ /data/local/asroot2 /system/bin/sh [+] Using newer pope_inode_info layout
Opening: /proc/857/fd/3
SUCCESS: Enjoy the shell.
#Now for a few last commands.
7: Code:mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
8: Code:cd /system/bin
9: Code:cat sh > su
10: Code:chmod 4755 su
You are now officially rooted. A few more steps and you will have flashed the recovery image.
11: Code:exit

13: Code:adb push recovery-RA-heroc-v1.5.2.img /sdcard Pushing is equivalent of copy the file to the root of your sdcard. By the time you finished reading this it should be done. You'll know its done because the ouput will say something like transferred X bytes in X secs.

Android : Upgrade Failed With HTC Hero Type Phones
Dec 8, 2009We have a number of users experiencing crashes with our apps on Hero type phones (hero, droid eris, etc.). After some debugging, it appears that they upgraded the app, but that the phone somehow cached the old version of the AndroidManifest. For instance, the app version is still reported as one less than the latest, and the crash is caused by the phone not seeing a new activity in the Manifest (which is true for the old version manifest, but the new manifest of course has the activity defined). This seems to be limited to Hero phones, but we've seen it on all types (tmeu hero, verizon desirec, etc.). Is there any way to fix this besides spending many characters of the limited description size on something like "Hero users: please uninstall before upgrading"? Will there be a Hero fix to fix this behavior?

Sprint HTC Hero :: Blue Tooth Failed / Battery Doesn't Last
May 10, 2010I have tried every trick from every site. But ever since I rooted my wife's phone its battery doesn't last pass 7-8 hours. I done the *#*#4636#*#*, the gps on networks off, auto killer on aggressive, battery defender and still her battery doesn't last. She keeps blue tooth on all the time and has three email accounts set @ every 15 mins. She says that when she was stock 1.5 it lasted all day. But the stock rom would restart by itself all the time. Boy I wish that I never rooted her phone. I've upgraded radio without any change in performance. What 2.1rom is easiest on the battery? Can I flash her back to a 1.5 rooted rom that is not a battery hog. I love my Fresh 2.0d I'm 75% at night before I go to bed. But I don't blue tooth either.
