HTC Hero :: Installing Villain 10.1

i am currently using sense 2.2 rom with a 16gb microsdhc card. i tried to flash the new villain 10.1 rom yesterday but afterwards it just kept looping the white htc "quietly brilliant" page. i left this going on for an hour to see if it just needed some time to install. i think the reason may be because i just used the same partitioned microsdhc card. it has already been set up for a2sd and worked perfectly with my sense 2.2 rom. do i need to reformat the card and repartition it again? i am using Amon Ra recovery 1.6.2 to flash my roms. i have flashed the latest radio update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06OU_6.35.15.01-signed.

after nearly a month of trying to get it, i finally got it and have been using it for about a week , i have overclocked / underclocked and cant notice any speed difference i have it set at 294/701, is there anything else thats will get some kinda improvement out of this because as far as i can tell i have not notiiced no difference between this and 3's stock ROM Prt from the phone takes longer to boot and what features should i be using to get its full worth

I followed the guide to the letter (gold carded) and received the Network locked screen after installing the HTC ROM ending 405.5 and receiving the updates for 2.1. By the way my Hero is Orange branded with Orange SIM and the product number is 99HHM022-00. Apart from waiting for Orange to release the update, whats my options? Read through numerous threads, but I'm confused whether an unlock code would work or whether its just better to bite the bullet and go for a Villain ROM that allows apps to install to SD cards. IF I was to go for a Villian ROM would that contain a compatible radio for my Orange phone, and would the Villain ROM work on my Orange branded Hero by just following their guide? I dont really want to have to wipe my phone again if its not going to work, so was just asking you guys for advice?

I flashed the froyd villain 1.1 on my Hero yesterday and somehow, I am not finding any speed improvements. Not even when I am browsing. So just wondering if the JIT is enabled on my phone. Is there a way to check it or does this ROM have JIT included?

So apart from being a great rom (scored 4.75 on linkpack) this ROM has some really nasty issues that i can't stand them. I'm just starting this thread to make sure is not just me. If it's me, I will reflash. But if you guys have the same issues, we should try to add bugs we found, and then make a shout to the villain team.
- when the screen timeout is set at 15 and the screen goes black, imediatelly, click on home. You will make the phone alive without the lockscreen.
- when in navigator (loading your location please wait) and the screen goes idle, and you go back, the navigator is going in the background...................

I'm relatively new to the rooting lark but I've managed to get Villain 5.2 up and running. However I can't seem to get Apps2SD working with it. I've partitioned the SD card and changed Ext2 to Ext3, but when I run Apps2SD it tells me there's a problem and I should check out the tutorial (which links to a deleted thread)...
Anyone used Villain 5.2 with Apps2SD who can help?

I have to say, it is the fastest most responsive ROM I have tried yet! Thought I'd share my thoughts. It's a GSM based ROM, so, view/hide/import contacts from sim is there. APN's work easily. It has only 5 home screens, but I don't use all 7 on Sense UI roms. (EDIT) Just found a setting to expand to 7 homescreens. Maximum MMS size is only 300K, as opposed to 600K. Thought that was odd. Would be cool if he could change that. The themes are pretty cool, nothing too ridiculously awesome, but hey, it's cool lol. Seems to like to hang when messing with themes though, but it's only beta so far.
Only thing I don't really like so far, are all the "t-mobile'ized" icons.. (a lot of icons have pink in them, like tmobile's logo lol). And also, all icons have bubbles around them... not a big deal in the app drawer but just not a huge fan of bubbles all over my homescreen

What would people's favorite ROM be? MoDaCo or Villain? I recently rooted my HTC Hero and installed Villain 5.4 on it. However, I've noticed the battery drains quicker than previous Android 1.5 that was on it. I've changed to "GSM only" in phone settings (*#*#INFO#*#*) and also have changed some settings with regard to display timeout etc etc.

I just installed villain 12 looks good but no data or mobile web. Phone works good. Filled in telus apn info but no go. I'm tired and tearing out my hair. what am I doing wrong?

If I make a Nandroid+EXT and a BART backup, wipe and then install Villain (or any other 2.1 ROM) is it completely roll backable by wiping and restoring either the Nandroid+EXT or the BART? The wipe affects nothing? Also, if I decide I like it, can I perform an EXT restore only and maintain my App2SD?

I'm using Villain5.2 and I see that Villain5.3 is out. I'd like to use Villain5.3 but I'm not sure if I have to re-install all of my apps again. Can I just flash 5.3 over the top of 5.2 and thats all I have to do, or is there more to it? Will I need to "wipe"?

Villain has released (yet another) new ROM, a port from the MyTouch Slide phone. I've never heard of it my self but I think I'll have to give it a try; why else would god have invented the nandroid backup?

all the normal wallpapers work as do my own photos but i cannot get live ones to work, ive upgraded to 5.4 they didnt work on there either(nor did friend stream) and now ive gone back to 5.3 as i prefered it.(and friend stream does!

Has anybody managed to get GPS working consistently after flashing Villain? I managed to get a fix on my location once and that's it. I have updated to the latest radio, and I have been trying it outside.

i installed this rom earlier and started of loving it and then messenger force closed and again and again so i then ended all programs using auto killer and went back in to messanger and it worked for long enough to send a txt and then failed again. the application messages(process com.android.mms) has stoped working unexpectedly.please try again

Don't know if it's just me, but I do not seem to be able to turn off the touch/haptic feedback for the keyboard since flashing this system. Using the old 'turn it off' option has no effect. Has anyone else had this happen? I was just thinking it might speed the keyboard up a little if I could turn it off (and may help save a tiny bit of battery too).

Anyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

After finally figuring out what caused the problem with syncing my phone to my laptop (taskiller was to blame) i tried to install the t-mobile 2.73 rom update. It all went well untill the message came up that the usb device wasn't recognized. Now nothing works, i've tried re-installing htc sync & htc drivers, but it's still not recognized... I can't even mount my sd-card.

Ive been trying to get apps install to sd card thingy to work but i cat get anything to work at all i have firmware 1.5 basband 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22 kernel version 2.6.27-430d1aea build number 2.73.771.62 CL*80033 release-keys software version 1.0.0.A6288 is there anything im doing wrong as nothing works and i really want to be able to install apps to me 8gig sd card i havent got anything on phone either when i try apart from flashrec and recovery.

I'm running Ginger Villain 3.3 (16-10) on a HTC desire and I've had some rather odd incidents with the Danish dictionary.
Is it possible to update it to a working version? EG:
I tried to write "spiser" (eat) but it suggested "spiser r" (Sophagus)
When I wrote "klokken" (at) it suggested klokkesl t" (time)
It changes simple every day words into complicated - rarely used words.

HTC recommend a backup before installing a ROM. Is there a HTC backup tool? I know my Google account is online so I'm not worried about contacts and address book but what about the settings?
Android market? Will all my paid for apps still be available to me after update? Are all my installed apps memorized by the market? So finally what's the difference between Mybackup and Sprite backup or is there a better one that someone wants to recommend? My phone is not rooted and its not something I want to try at the moment.

im new to this whole rooting thing.i was able to root my phone last night but im running into a problem trying to install fresh rom.Sorry if this has been answered before, but ive looked everywhere and cant find anything.Can anyone please help me out im probably having a blonde moment and hopefully its just something silly.Im working on a mac if that makes a difference.
