I just installed villain 12 looks good but no data or mobile web. Phone works good. Filled in telus apn info but no go. I'm tired and tearing out my hair. what am I doing wrong?

after nearly a month of trying to get it, i finally got it and have been using it for about a week , i have overclocked / underclocked and cant notice any speed difference i have it set at 294/701, is there anything else thats will get some kinda improvement out of this because as far as i can tell i have not notiiced no difference between this and 3's stock ROM Prt from the phone takes longer to boot and what features should i be using to get its full worth

View 2 Replies View RelatedI followed the guide to the letter (gold carded) and received the Network locked screen after installing the HTC ROM ending 405.5 and receiving the updates for 2.1. By the way my Hero is Orange branded with Orange SIM and the product number is 99HHM022-00. Apart from waiting for Orange to release the update, whats my options? Read through numerous threads, but I'm confused whether an unlock code would work or whether its just better to bite the bullet and go for a Villain ROM that allows apps to install to SD cards. IF I was to go for a Villian ROM would that contain a compatible radio for my Orange phone, and would the Villain ROM work on my Orange branded Hero by just following their guide? I dont really want to have to wipe my phone again if its not going to work, so was just asking you guys for advice?

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo apart from being a great rom (scored 4.75 on linkpack) this ROM has some really nasty issues that i can't stand them. I'm just starting this thread to make sure is not just me. If it's me, I will reflash. But if you guys have the same issues, we should try to add bugs we found, and then make a shout to the villain team.
- when the screen timeout is set at 15 and the screen goes black, imediatelly, click on home. You will make the phone alive without the lockscreen.
- when in navigator (loading your location please wait) and the screen goes idle, and you go back, the navigator is going in the background...................
I'm relatively new to the rooting lark but I've managed to get Villain 5.2 up and running. However I can't seem to get Apps2SD working with it. I've partitioned the SD card and changed Ext2 to Ext3, but when I run Apps2SD it tells me there's a problem and I should check out the tutorial (which links to a deleted thread)...
Anyone used Villain 5.2 with Apps2SD who can help?
I have to say, it is the fastest most responsive ROM I have tried yet! Thought I'd share my thoughts. It's a GSM based ROM, so, view/hide/import contacts from sim is there. APN's work easily. It has only 5 home screens, but I don't use all 7 on Sense UI roms. (EDIT) Just found a setting to expand to 7 homescreens. Maximum MMS size is only 300K, as opposed to 600K. Thought that was odd. Would be cool if he could change that. The themes are pretty cool, nothing too ridiculously awesome, but hey, it's cool lol. Seems to like to hang when messing with themes though, but it's only beta so far.
Only thing I don't really like so far, are all the "t-mobile'ized" icons.. (a lot of icons have pink in them, like tmobile's logo lol). And also, all icons have bubbles around them... not a big deal in the app drawer but just not a huge fan of bubbles all over my homescreen
What would people's favorite ROM be? MoDaCo or Villain? I recently rooted my HTC Hero and installed Villain 5.4 on it. However, I've noticed the battery drains quicker than previous Android 1.5 that was on it. I've changed to "GSM only" in phone settings (*#*#INFO#*#*) and also have changed some settings with regard to display timeout etc etc.
View 18 Replies View Relatedi am currently using sense 2.2 rom with a 16gb microsdhc card. i tried to flash the new villain 10.1 rom yesterday but afterwards it just kept looping the white htc "quietly brilliant" page. i left this going on for an hour to see if it just needed some time to install. i think the reason may be because i just used the same partitioned microsdhc card. it has already been set up for a2sd and worked perfectly with my sense 2.2 rom. do i need to reformat the card and repartition it again? i am using Amon Ra recovery 1.6.2 to flash my roms. i have flashed the latest radio update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06OU_6.35.15.01-signed.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a sim free Hero on 3UK that I recently upgraded to 2.1. Since doing so, I have noticed that the data turns itself on every so often.I normally use the htc widget to turn on/off the mobile data as I don't use it while at work/at home. Occaisionally, I notice that it is switched on and when I try to switch it back off, it restarts itself. I've noticed this on quite a few days now over the last couple of weeks and once it starts doing it, I can't stop it.I can only think it is down to either some app that I have installed or the synch settings, but I have checked for running processes and killed anything that looks like one of my apps.I don't really know what else to do to stop it. Has anyone got any ideas?

Basically the data icons only shows the sending data arrow and it takes ages for both arrows to show any activity, if it does ever work.
Most the time it is unusable and I often have to restart, which sometimes helps.
I don't know if its my network (orange) or something to do with the phone. Any one else?
Anyone tried it yet, any improvement in battery life?
View 28 Replies View RelatedIf I make a Nandroid+EXT and a BART backup, wipe and then install Villain (or any other 2.1 ROM) is it completely roll backable by wiping and restoring either the Nandroid+EXT or the BART? The wipe affects nothing? Also, if I decide I like it, can I perform an EXT restore only and maintain my App2SD?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm using Villain5.2 and I see that Villain5.3 is out. I'd like to use Villain5.3 but I'm not sure if I have to re-install all of my apps again. Can I just flash 5.3 over the top of 5.2 and thats all I have to do, or is there more to it? Will I need to "wipe"?

View 13 Replies View RelatedWhile I was out today with "Mobile network" selected and an HSDPA connection I was able to update weather, view a Google Map, browse web pages and read GMail messages. However, when I replied to messages in the GMail app my replies were not sent. They sat in the GMail app with the word "Sending" shown in red in the Inbox. I tried toggling the mobile data connection off and on a couple of times, but still no joy. As soon as I returned home and reconnected through WiFi the messages were sent within a minute or so.Has anyone any suggestions as to what I might do differently next time?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Orange UK Hero is unable to make/send calls or send/receive sms. It displays "No Service" on the lock screen but mobile data seems to work perfectly.
If I go to...
Settings->Wireless Controls->Mobile Network Settings->Network Operators->Search Networks
then select Orange, it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
If mobile data wasnt working then I would guess that its a SIM issue but I'm clearly connected to the network as im using their internet!
Just swapped SIM with a friends phone.
My SIM works in his phone and his SIM has the same issues in my phone.
Booting up, it was connected to the network for enough time for it to get a voicemail notification but showed "No Service" straight away.
Im guessing the best bet is to re-flash with the latest Hero Orange firmware. Any tips for backing up numbers/sms/cal etc?
all the normal wallpapers work as do my own photos but i cannot get live ones to work, ive upgraded to 5.4 they didnt work on there either(nor did friend stream) and now ive gone back to 5.3 as i prefered it.(and friend stream does!

Your PCS vision username or password may be incorrect. I tried the fix that is on the website for the error code 67 but when I go to setting /about phone/ to the system software update I need web access to update the profile on my phone. Using the old 'turn it off' option has no effect. Has anyone else had this happen? I was just thinking it might speed the keyboard up a little if I could turn it off (and may help save a tiny bit of battery too).

Unlike the viewing of the same photos through the Albums widget on the phone, which seems to fail to download them for viewing through the mobile data connection, even at H connection speed.....the download just seems to stall?
