gonna be installing the new orange 2.1 rom on my old hero soon just wondering what i need to back up before hand ? dont wanna loose anything also whats the best way to back up ? any free apps?

I would like to back up the data (especially the built-in Calendar data) to my PC or at least my SD card on the phone. Can someone tell me how to backup the data?

How do I go about backing up my contacts prior to installing, e.g., the new ROM upgrade on the Hero? Presumably I would need to get the data actually off the phone on to my computer but I can't figure out how to, and I have too many contacts to save them all individually to my SIM card. I have been having major problems with HTC Sync (as long as it's installed on my computer it seems to knock out my wireless internet connection intermittently, which makes no sense, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times and it's definitely HTC Sync doing it) so if there's a method that doesn't involve HTC Sync?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone ever had this happen? Downloaded an update after the 2.1 upgrade and I sync'd my contacts with FB. It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter finally figuring out what caused the problem with syncing my phone to my laptop (taskiller was to blame) i tried to install the t-mobile 2.73 rom update. It all went well untill the message came up that the usb device wasn't recognized. Now nothing works, i've tried re-installing htc sync & htc drivers, but it's still not recognized... I can't even mount my sd-card.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi am currently using sense 2.2 rom with a 16gb microsdhc card. i tried to flash the new villain 10.1 rom yesterday but afterwards it just kept looping the white htc "quietly brilliant" page. i left this going on for an hour to see if it just needed some time to install. i think the reason may be because i just used the same partitioned microsdhc card. it has already been set up for a2sd and worked perfectly with my sense 2.2 rom. do i need to reformat the card and repartition it again? i am using Amon Ra recovery 1.6.2 to flash my roms. i have flashed the latest radio update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06OU_6.35.15.01-signed.

So finally what's the difference between Mybackup and Sprite backup or is there a better one that someone wants to recommend? My phone is not rooted and its not something I want to try at the moment.

Is there a way to see if they're installing to SD?My phone is rooted with A2SD installed and I have a ext3 384MB ext3 partition. Am I missing something?Nevermind I figured it out, apps are indeed installing to SD, the reason why internal storage is decreasing is because of cache and other system data.

Ive tried using the adb push command from my pc but it says that it couldnt because its a read-only file system. (lost me there!) Is it possible to install it by flashing a zip of it from recovery like a rom. Im kind of stuck here, I have no way of installing new apps....

The problem I ran into though was installing a new ROM - going through the initial set up I was not able to see any any of the text that I was typing. Trying to set up my Google account was impossible because the email field just stayed blank no matter how many times I would press a letter.
Now I had this same problem months ago when I tried rooting before, and just like this time I did try installing the ROM a couple of times. However, after it not working I gave up and installed the Sprint Stock RUU.
I have rooted and installed the fresh rom with gumbo on my sprin hero my wife has a cellular south hero and wants me to do the same for hers i was wondering if there was a simple guide to doing this the step by step guide for sprints hero was cool and easy to use.

I woke this morning to find 2 of them were stuck installing and one was downloading. I was able to cancel the downloading one and download and install it. The others are still stuck labeled 'installing' and I can't find any way to cancel or make them proceed. Any suggestions?

I have to return my phone (shame I could not keep it for free!) and have rooted my phone, and installed the modaco ROM.
I want to return it with an orange ROM, and was wondering if I can just install the updated orange ROM on my phone over the top of the modaco, and has anyone done this successfully? From reading around I am assuming that this would hide the fact that I have ever rooted or installed a custom ROM, as I want to be back on warranty?
