Oct 19, 2010I dropped my phone in the toilet and it was completely water damaged. Its working fine now only problem is the camera is not working now. It keeps forcing close.....

HTC Hero :: Phone Dropped - Android Application Not Working When Powered On
Jul 30, 2010Today I dropped my HTC Hero on the ground from less than a foot above and when it dropped it turned off so I went to turn it back on and after multiple tries finally got it to the hold screen. When I went to pull down the hold screen to go to the home screen it went to the screen when you're turning it on that says "hTc". I immediately hit end and it goes back to the hold screen then when I pull it down it again it says that some of the applications, which I assume by their name is part of the phone processing, isn't working so I have to force it close. The weird thing is I still get my emails and texts and when a phone call comes in it says the Android application isn't working. Anybody know what is going on here?

Aug 10, 2010My niece recently got this phone and dropped it the other day. It landed on the volume down button and now gives an error when she restarted it about no Sim Recovery or something like that. I haven't seen it yet as I won't see her again til the weekend. Is their anything she can do to fix the issue. I had her remove the battery and while the cover was off she was able to get the volume down button unpressed and working again.
When placing the battery back in the phone will no longer power on. Is recovery loaded by the volume down and power button? I thought I read somewhere the Home key was also needed to boot into recovery on the phone. Can I download any stock back up to place on her SIM card if infact this is the issue? Thanks for the help. I have a moment and I know it in an out but the hero is new to me still. I am gonna have her take it to sprint if we can't figure this out if I must but I hate dealing with the local repair center.

Jul 3, 2010I'm a little disappointed with the Evo's camera and camcorder. It's kind of fuzzy and the sound is pretty bad. Is this a hardware issue or a software issue? Is there a hack you can do to make it better? I heard somewhere its a compression and fps issue. Please don't give me answers like "the Evo's quality is great" or "get a real camera".

Jun 5, 2010Just dropped mine for the FIRST time since I purchased it in February. Dropped it from about average arms height onto a hard-wood floor, and it had a silicone case on it. Not really worried, but I am just curious how bad you have dropped your Hero at one time or another? Also, what kind of testing do these phones go through? Are they designed to take a bit of a drop? I have always been curious about that.

Specifically I am having problems dropping calls in my apartment, which seems to be at the edge of three different towers (I will connect to all three just by walking from room to room...don't know if that is typical).I am new to Sprint, so I don't quite have a feel for what I should expect from the network, but my fiancee--also on Sprint but with a different phone--doesn't seem to have the same issues.

Oct 15, 2009I love the Hero - dont get me wrong - I am running the latest orange rom but I have a few issues- hopefully some one can help me solve...
1 - Dropped calls - no matter who or where I am calls drop about 25% of the time. I can be sitting at home doing nothing but talking then drop.. it happens alot.. starting to annoy me..
2 - Failed to send texts - I am having a text conversation then a random message stops and wont deliver - retry - retry again - wait a minute or 2 and retry - it works.... this is getting very anoying.. again about 25% of the time.
3 - Internet connection - (3g) - after about 4 or 5 clicks it will lock up and display page not found... wait about a minute - retry and again it works... this is about 40% of the time
4 - my friend sends me a text message/ missed call with a new number. I cant add it to an existing contact - it only allows you to add a new contact. plus copy and paste doesnt work at these points. - i end up having to write the number down and then edit the contact.
5- T9 - when I add a word to the library - it doesnt remember the word in my text - I have to type it in again and then it predicts it (minor but annoying). this phone is awsome as a gadget - but pretty crap as a phone. any one got any advice on how to help ?

Oct 3, 2010I don't think I've seen this addressed elsewhere, but I could have missed it, and I apologize if I did. My phone is stock, has an 8 GB SD card installed, and very few apps beyond those installed by Verizon. I can include a list if requested. The phone works fine and all the apps I use regularly work fine. The only exception I have is that occasionally I will be talking to someone and I hear a descending 4 tone deet- da-la-deet.. and my call is gone, my screen is black and I can't get it to respond. If I slide out the keyboard, the buttons light up, but nothing else happens. I have to pull the battery to get it to work again. I can confirm I have the 50% bug and have tried all the suggestions which don't seem to do much. Also, someone else mentioned the problem of when I place a call, the screen goes blank and does not wake back up unless I slide out the keyboard. I have firmware version 2.1-update1, Kernel version 2.6.29 lge@android-build #2, Build number ERE27 and SW Version VS740ZVB. Does anyone know how to fix this bug short of taking it back to Verizon or living with it? Would any of the custom ROMs you have on here help? I have absolutely no clue about rooting and updating the ROM and don't want to complicate things further if it's not going to resolve anything.

May 4, 2010I am trying to investigate why I seem to come to my phone (without dropping it) and it is sometimes off. I remembered that I had a couple of small drops before, the kind of drop that would not have made any previous phone I've had even skip a beat. So I did a test and dropped it on purpose.
3cm drop.
Phone dropped completely flat on it's back so it landed flat.
Phone in silicone/gel tight fitting case.
Glass table.
Screen on when dropped.
Result? Phone instantly off on impact. To me, I find this way too delicate in comparison to phones I've owned. Now, this is my first big screen smartphone, but not my first smartphone. My last was the Nokia E71 which was very very well built. Evidently, it was even better built than I thought.
Am I being harsh/naive and this is normal, or do I have a delicate unit?
HTC Incredible :: Dropped Phone From About 6 Feet - Survived
May 7, 2010Dropped my phone from about 6 feet today. And it was absolutely fine. It landed right on a tile floor too. I have a Verizon silicon-gloss case and a Zagg screen protector. Wrap your phone up and it should be fine, mine survived a pretty damn bad fall if you ask me.

Nov 10, 2010I had a couple of low height drops that didn't result in any damage. The phone is actually really tough. But the other day I found out how tough it really is. I had it in my car between my legs and when I got out and stood up, down it went, face first on to an asphalt parking lot. It made a sound unlike it had before, and I knew right away. There is one small crack running from about 3 o'clock to about 1 o'clock running diagonally across the screen. Surprisingly, everything still works as it should and the crack hasn't spread. I do have a screen protector, and I think that is the only thing that may have kept it from being worse.
I also had the hard silicone cover on as well. A quick call to VZW to see what I could do, $90 for a claim through Assurance. Not really what I wanted to hear). I will admit that I did not check on claim deductible prices when getting insurance. I expected to hear $25 or $30 maybe; but not $90. I can't upgrade again until July of next year and I really hate this happened because I'm basically stuck with the phone. I have no options other than filing the insurance claim or buying a new phone at full retail price. Is there any fix for the screen I could possibly do myself, or am I just screwed?

Oct 21, 2010The screen is shattered which sucks. It's still usable but looks horrible. I have insurance on it so I have some questions as to the whole procedure i'll have to go through when I bring it to verizon.
1: Does my insurance cover if I drop it?
2: Do I have to get a new phone or can they send it in and get the screen fixed?
3: Do I have to pay for a new phone? If so will they then send me a new one and let me keep my old one so I still have a phone while I wait?
It sucks because I've never dropped it, and it was just my luck that it falls right on the screen.

Jun 21, 2012Dropped my E4G, and I suppose in the impact the continuity between the card and socket were broken, and, well, I now have a useless sd card until I format it.
Problem is, I have very important photos on this card I would REALLY like to get off because they are not able to be replaced. Pictures of my daughter.I have tried EaseUS and Minitool, which did not work. Tried chkdsk, but the card is listed as RAW, so no go.

Oct 1, 2010That isn't the worst part of it. I dropped the phone battery and the cover came off and the micro sd latch broke off it. It just like popped off after it dropped in target like a week ago so now I can't use a ringtone nor take pictures or download music straight to my phone so is there any way to get the micro sd working again? Feb 20, 2010So I got my Eris on Wednesday and dropped it today and did I mess it up. It feel from about waste level, I'm 5'8 so it wasn't that high. I even slid my foot out to stop a direct hit to the ground which was successful. However this didn't help at all. The entire screen shattered but the phone still works. I know I should have a case for it but in the 9 years of having a cell phone this is the first one I dropped one. I was planning on getting one but haven't had the time to go out and get one yet.
Anyways I though the Eris had the gorilla glass that was basically unbreakable. It doesn't seem like a fall from waste hight, slowed down by my foot, onto the linoleum floor at the food store would destroy the screen. The cracks start at the corner and spider web through the whole screen. Everything I've read about people dropping the phone said it never broke. I am wondering if the screen might actually be defective, probably not but I'm grasping at straws to avoid the insurance deductible. Good thing I have insurance on the phone.

Jun 14, 2010I dropped my phone yesterday for the second story of my apartment complex. It hit the ground really hard, but landed on it's back. Everything seems to work perfect, except that one of the sliders (top keyboard slider) that connects the keyboard to the screen, bracket came off. A small piece broke off but it still looks like it can go back in the sliding area. Right now the keyboard is only sliding open from the bottom bracket.
I can't seem to figure out how to slide this bracket that's on the keyboard back inside the sliding area on the back of the screen. I have had this phone since it came out and I don't have the protection plan. Not sure if sprint will fix this for me and how much it will cost, or if I can fix it on my own or if I will need to buy a new phone. But this thing isn't going to last much longer with the phone only being held in place and sliding with 1 slider.

When she is on the phone talking it is constantly, muting her voice or something cuz no1 can hear her. she just got the phone less than a week ago. I read online and found a bunch of stuff about the proximity sensor and the software issues, however those were all dated last year around winter time. So I am trying to see if there is a current fix for it. I see on the forums people have some problems with hardware on their incredibles but I didn't see a thread for the droid. Basically she can hear people talking but no1 can hear her and it happens like every other phone call.

Nov 10, 2010Now I have dropped my Inc many times (I have the rubber case) and never had a problem. Well on Sunday I was coming home from the airport and dropped it perfectly about 3 feet directly on the screen on a rock and kablooey, it was shattered. I mean ruined to the point where you couldn't touch it without getting cut. However it actually still worked perfectly, but for obvious safety reasons I needed to get a new one. To make a long story short I got Verizon to send me a new one, and I couldn't be happier. Now they explained that I didn't receive a new one or a refurbished one, rather one that was returned immediately by someone.
It looks great, works perfectly and is running faster and smoother than my old one did. This is even after I did a backup from AppBrain to re-download over 130 apps. My only sadness is that I lost all my levels on Angry birds, and that I had to reset up my phone with all the little personalizations that I had before. Has anyone else had a similar experience with their replacement. My old phone (one that had received the update) It was constantly bogged down, and got better once I did a factory reset, however it still wasn't as smooth as my new one.

Jun 27, 2010Today I dropped my phone from about chest level. And when I picked it up the screen wouldn't turn back on. There are no any cracks on the screen and all of the touch stuff still works, what i mean is when the phone is on i can still unlock and scroll down i can feel it vibrate when I do so. I have tried pulling the battery and restarting and nothing will help. Does anyone else have any idea of whats wrong or how to fix it.?

Jul 1, 2010So how few options do I have? I dropped my incredible on the garage floor and it hit in the corner and shattered. It still works fine, but I had to put some tape below the screed near the optical sensor to cover the sharpness from the cracks where the screen protector doesn't cover.
Anyhow, I did not get insurance as I'd never used it in the 15 years I owned a cell phone... murphy's law of course. I went to a Verizon store and they gave me a phone number of a 3rd party repair guy. He's closed for the day so I started to Google stuff and it seems that I am up the creek. The screens are the reason they are not making these as fast as they'd like so I assume there are none available. I cannot find any info on repairing them... not looking good is it?
