General :: SD Card Corrupted After Phone Dropped / Need Recovery
Jun 21, 2012
Dropped my E4G, and I suppose in the impact the continuity between the card and socket were broken, and, well, I now have a useless sd card until I format it.
Problem is, I have very important photos on this card I would REALLY like to get off because they are not able to be replaced. Pictures of my daughter.I have tried EaseUS and Minitool, which did not work. Tried chkdsk, but the card is listed as RAW, so no go.

My niece recently got this phone and dropped it the other day. It landed on the volume down button and now gives an error when she restarted it about no Sim Recovery or something like that. I haven't seen it yet as I won't see her again til the weekend. Is their anything she can do to fix the issue. I had her remove the battery and while the cover was off she was able to get the volume down button unpressed and working again.
When placing the battery back in the phone will no longer power on. Is recovery loaded by the volume down and power button? I thought I read somewhere the Home key was also needed to boot into recovery on the phone. Can I download any stock back up to place on her SIM card if infact this is the issue? Thanks for the help. I have a moment and I know it in an out but the hero is new to me still. I am gonna have her take it to sprint if we can't figure this out if I must but I hate dealing with the local repair center.

I wanted to ask before I RMA my Lexar 32GB Class 10 Micro SD card. I have this card in my Charge and every week or so now it goes corrupt. I hear of people changing the cache, but I have not rooted the device.
Is there a "fix" to prevent this when not rooted?
I wonder what the problem is, if I go to a slower card or smaller capacity, will it be avoided? Tired of loosing all my data on the card each time.

I have an Allwinner A10 clone (Kurio 7), it is designed for kids but otherwise a standard android tablet. After hours of googling I rooted and installed CWM & Gapps (not included in the stock ROM). So far so good. The stock ROM was causing issues with some apps, it needed to go.
I flashed CM10 and it worked but no touch screen. It needed a compatibility flash to make it work. You can guess what's coming. I picked the wrong one and now the device does the following:
Reboot loop
Black screen (backlight though)
PWR+Vol up no longer gets to recovery
Vibrates constantly between reboots (due to wrong patch I'm guessing)
ADB picks up the device for a split second between reboots but "adb reboot recovery" does nothing. Even when using wait command. Tried "fastboot flash recovery cwm.img" after wait command, no luck. Is there anything else I can try?

I have no idea whats going on with my EVO but my memory card keeps getting corrupted.
It started when I was trying to "hide" some pictures using Photovault. All the sudden it couldn't hide or see my already hidden photos'. All of my porn was like totally gone! Seriously though, it corrupted all my phones pictures. Thinking it was the Photovault app, I uninstalled and went to reinstall. Well installer cant see any of the app apk files I have on my mem card.
Then I noticed my MP3's were corrupted, all the sudden it reports there a format the phone cant use and I notice files are just plain missing when I view folders with Astro.
I hooked my EVO to the PC and it wanted me to run check disk on the phone/mem card so I did. This hung causing me to have to hard reboot the phone.
All my data was now gone and Windows 7 reports I need to format this device blah blah blah. I tried to format from within Windows 7, no go. So I formatted from within the phone.
I copied a backup of my memory card I had back to the memory card and all seemed fine.
Hour later I'm right back where I was before, shits getting corrupted again. I again formatted from within the phone but did not copy over my backup as I was at work when this happened.
I fired up Astro though and I see still most of my files even thought I formatted from within the phone.
I didn't want to do the OTA update thingy for fear of loosing root. You know the one that was for the mem card issues. I thought formatting it was all I really needed to do. Maybe not?
Right now I'm doing a full format of the memory card out of the phone and attached to a Sandisk micro usb reader/writer.

Just got me a Guomi F3 (in Chinese, 国米 F3) and I'd like to do a clean install in English. I didn't know much about Android but I have been searching and learning to handle this situation I'm under.. I lost backup ROM and can't find a compatible one on the net yet.
This phone seems to be very new (and very minor) so I can't find a manufacture ROM or even manufacture's website..
Currently it keep showing an error message "System was damaged, The system will be unstable!"
The OS seems to belong to China Mobile (in Chinese, 引領3G生活) and it won't let me fastboot but I can access fastboot mode by ROM manager app.
Here's the spec of this phone;
- Platform: Android
- Android ver.: 4.4.4
- Android SDK ver.: 15 (Android 4.0.3)
- Kernel: Linux 3.0.8
- CPU: MT6592 2GHz Octa Core
- Root access: Yes
- RAM: 421MB
- System storage: 2.07GB
- Internal storage: 0.97GB
- External storage: 0.97GB
- GPU ver.: OpenGL LS 2.0 Spreadtrum Build

First post - was browsing and thought i should let everyone know what happened to my desire after about a month. Bascially, it corrupted my SD card, lost everything on it and the SD card itself was not recoverable. I'm seeing similar reports on these forums but no clear answers other than to try another SD card. Not the best idea. The problem in my case was NOT the 4gb SD card that came with the phone but after a HTC repair turned out to be a faulty SD card reader in the phone. I wouldn't have known it was this (i got no info back in the post) if i hadn't rang up & the guy told me. There's no way i'm the only one...so back up your SD cards often just in case!!

My Karbonn A30 has bricked. I did so many experiment on my phone and also stucked several time with some problem but i did solved that problems.
NOTE: My phone was rooted by using "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18" process.
Two days back i flashed TITAN MOBILE ROM in my Karbonn A30 but that was unsuccessful,After that my phone was not able to boot and also it was not able to boot in recovery mode using Volume up + Power key. Then with some R&D i get a new option using Volume Down + Power key that option is for my mobile hardware test. In that option i formatted my "emmc" then after my phone was able boot in CWMR recovery mode. Then i wiped my all data and system using CWM Recovery,Also did Restore factory.
After that i was regularly getting error message on my phone notification " Phone storage corrupted,Format it" Then i formatted that. Then i installed my all apps from by apps_backup. When i rebooted my phone, again i was getting same error message and didn't any option except format it.
Then i decide to check this error after unrooting my phone. So i remove root access. After that i was not getting this error.
Yesterday again i rooted it with same process and again i was getting same error message after installing apps and reboot my phone.
then i decided to flash new rom with same company phone(Karbonn). So i got ROM for Karbonn S5 from google. I flashed that successfully on my phone i was very happy because this rom was having Jellybean OS(4.1.2). But after some time apps started crashing when i logged in my phone using my gmail as usual i did after every factory reset.
Then i re-flashed the same rom(Karonn S5). This time i decided to do factory reset using phone setting before loggin in google account. That was my blunder mistake. After pressing factory reset my phone got stuck in boot screen.
Then i tried same option to solve it (Volume down + power ) so i can format emmc again to resolve it. But this time after formatting emmc i was in the same condition on boot looping.I am not able to go in recovery option using my phone key.
NOTE: Currently my phone is not rooted,I checked it using ADB commands. My USB DEBUGGING is showing on but when i put my phone in" phone hardware check mode( using Volume Down + Power key)".

So my I randomly got a notification tonight saying my SD card was corrupted. My Eris told me I had to format it, so I tried through my phone, and nothing happened. When I connected it to the computer, I tried formatting it through there and when I click on format (Using Windows 7 32-bit), it tells me there is no drive at drive F: Does anyone have any ideas? I used to have a microSD converter so I could use it in a card reader but I don't know where its gone too, and don't know if it would help anyways.

So, a couple of days ago I dropped my Acer Liquid Express on the pavement, and the impact caused it to shut off, and stay off.
If I plug it into a charger (wall or PC) the screen lights up and it shows itself to be charging as usual, so there's still some sort of life in it, but it won't register a charge in the battery (it was on at least 50% when I dropped it). It also won't respond to any button presses, meaning I can't turn it on, perform a hard reset or access it from PC. I've tried the usual tricks, taking out the battery and sim card, holding the power button for x amount of time, and I'm currently leaving it on to charge for a couple of days to see if it wakes up.
My question is, is my phone salvageable or would I be better off throwing in the towel and replacing it? Is it possible a replacement battery would kick it back into life? It isn't completely dead, as it displays the charging animation when I plug it in, but I'm really not sure what can be done with it at the moment.

When the (HTC Desire) phone is powered up it is unable to mount the SD card, and I am unable to have it mounted from the "Settings > SD card & Storage" menu. Having said that, the micro SD card can be accessed from a computer (when plugged in directly to the computer, i.e. no issue with the card), and moreover, when I am in the recovery mode, I can have it mounted and browse it. By the way, the card could be accessed from the phone until I downgraded the O/S, and managed to have it rooted.
When the phone is running normally, and connected to the USB port of a laptop, the laptop does recognize a device connected (can even do ADB), but I believe because the SD card is not mounted, the phone does not offer the option to make the card appear as a disk drive for computer access.
I am running the original (RUU, Telstra) Android 2.2 (2.26.841.2) on a HTC desire, after I had it "S-OFF'ed". After reloading the original 2.2, I had it rooted.
The micro SD card is a 2GB one, with approx 1.5GB formatted as FAT16 (contains typical file and photos), and 0.5 GB as EXT3 (contains nothing at the moment).
HBoot: 6.93.1002
S-Off ( Revolutionary)
Recovery mode: ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0 (I manually loaded it)
I have searched online for solutions, and have not been able to have it fixed. Others seem to have different issues to that of mine. Usually, they cannot mount the SD-card at all (not even from recovery), or their SD card just needed to be reformatted. I think I have indicated that these do not appear to be relevant to my issue at all. I have also tried "Fastboot oem enableqxdm 0", and it made no difference.

My tablet is: Asus Transformer TF300T (rooted)
What I did:
- I accidentally wiped all data in tablet - ROM, etc. Only left is Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) v2.2.0 recovery
- I put Android.zip (installation files) into MicroSD Card / uSD Card
- I boot into recovery (TWRP)
- TWRP does not read/detect the SD Card
- There is no files in /sdcard except one; /sdcard/TWRP/.twrps
I also
- installed adb on PC
- did 'adb devices' - no device detected when connect between tablet and PC How?

I have the OG Motorola Droid A855. I installed the 4.1 Jelly Bean mod onto it. I'd like to move my apps to the sd card - however, the "Move to SD Card" option on my phone is grey and unusable.
I'd like to do so with Clockworkmod recovery. However, I cannot do so because my Clockworkmod recovery does Not have the partition SD Card option (it is v2.5.0.1).
How am I supposed to partition my SD Card without this option within Clockworkmod? What is another way to do so?

I rooted my phone and this morning I attempted flashing a ROM called ViperOneS that you can look at here --URL.... So in order to install it the OP wrote in the instructions to factory restore the phone which I did. When I cleared the cache and everything and went to install it TWRP said it failed so I just erased it. Then when I went to reboot it was stuck on the screen with the red writing so I rebooted it in Recovery and it said there was no OS installed. I looked for this problem online and found that if I mounted the phone to my computer I could copy and paste a new ROM for my phone which I eventually tried to do but for some reason it does not allow me to check off either of the boxes next to "Mount SD Card" or "Mount Internal." It does let me mark all the other boxes. what I should do so the computer recognizes the phone as a "Removable Disk" like it used to so I can just drag and drop a new OS into my phone and put this thing behind me already?

I can see the contents of the internal sdcard when using the file browser in TRWP recovery, but after a boot-up the /system/sdcard is not accessible to the Android OS. I noticed the problem after I flashed system.img and boot.img in order to get rid of Apps Ops X.
Is there an easy was to restore access for the operating system and keep the data?

My mother-in-law ran out of space on her Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300, 32GB (note that she has no microSD, only internal memory), and requested that I get everything onto a DVD to clear up some space. I initially copied and pasted 3 folders of her photos (approximately 800+ files) into a re-writable DVD successfully and she was happy with it. She got me to delete those folders on her phone. Following that, she decided that she needs more space so she wanted me to do a cut and paste into the DVD instead. Since a cut and paste is much faster than a copy and paste, I very much obliged. There were up to 12 folders containing 4,000-5,000 photos from her various trips around the world. The estimated time to completion was around 2-3 mins, so I decided to surf the internet a little while waiting. To my dismay, I realized that my mother-in-law was looking through her photos "one last time" before it disappears from her phone - But I couldn't do anything else to salvage what she did at that point of time. Unsurprisingly, the photos were all corrupted and although they managed to fit into my DVD (total of 2.02GB), each of the corrupted file was 3.2-3.5GB in size!! I have no idea how that is possible, but it still says that when I look in its properties. No clue how all of that can fit in a tiny DVD, but I guess the corrupted photos were presenting inaccurate information. Anyways, surprise surprise, no photos in her phone as well. I ensured that she did not use her phone at all since, to make sure any existing memory of the photos will not be overwritten. She has never ever backed up her phone since buying it last year - I just did one with Keis that took 4.5 hrs.
I have since tried several of the top data recovery software on both the phone and DVD with no luck at all. With regards to the S3, it is on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and has no USB mass storage capabilities (no "USB Utilities" option in settings). I have tried looking at apps to unlock UMS, but none works with internal memory for the S3. Also, most programs require rooting of the phone which I cannot risk voiding her warranty with. Furthermore, who knows what will happen to the memory of the lost photos when I root the phone and rollback the version (was planning to get it back to ice-cream sandwich so that I can access UMS). Tried using flashtool to downgrade the phone as well, but can't find a suitable ROM (again, not confident of keeping lost photo memory by doing that - don't wanna risk it).

I should start off by mentioning im completely new to rooting and custom ROM (or even UNIX for that matter).I've just flashed a CM 10.1 rom onto my LG Optimus 2x. In the process my phone has lost its IMEI, and for that reason i cannot connect to any mobile network. In the 'about phone' section of the settings, it shows IMEI as unknown and Baseband as unknown.
I've learned that this may have to do with a corrupted EFS folder/partition. I didn't make a backup of this folder (i were following didn't mention that i should have done that)Now I'm trying to follow along with this guide to recover my IMEI. URL>....The problem is i don't even find the /efs folder in both the terminal emulator or this app I've downloaded "ES File explorer". Does it mean its been deleted? I've read that it may need to be mounted so i found this command somewhere on XDA to use
The first line worked in the terminal emulator, but when i tried entering the second line i get an error 'mount: No such file or directory'.

I bought a SanDisk Ultra 32gb microsd card to use it with my Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 several months ago, I've been using it with no hassle for a while now. Few days ago, my device stopped recognising the card, as if it didn't even exist. So what I did was insert the microsd into my laptop using an adapter, and I could see all the files intact and safe. The problem is, I cannot copy the files off the card, it's like it keeps disconnecting every about 10secs, once a copy or move operation starts, it goes about 10% and then stops, forcing me to cancel the operation, and sometimes it doesn't even start. The files are there, i can view them, i just cannot copy them. I want to copy the files off in order to format the microsd card to be able to use it again.
Another major problem is, files and complete folders are disappearing! I lost my photos folder and all my music folder (luckily i have a backup of those).
I have read somewhere that SanDisk manufactured faulty 32gb cards, and i get to return it and get a replacement, but i bought it from Amazon and i shipped internationally, it will be very cost inefficient to return it. GT-I9500

More than that once it got switched off, it is not getting turned on. I don no what happened to my mobi.
When i took to HTC service centre, they said that this is international phone and we don't have os for this mobile, so try outside for OS.
Previously atleast the HTC start up screen will get opened sometimes. Now not even that is getting opened.
