My hero bricked on me - when i hold down power & back keys i get in to a screen with the 3 androids on skateboards, can I flash a fresh rom from this screen? and if so - How?

I was flashing back to stock rom and I followed deaths steps for it, and for about the past hour or so its been stuck, once like every 20 minutes the screen will flash and go back to android. Did I brick it or what?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI bought a Hero (CDMA) from a friend. Wasn't sure if I was going to keep it (bought it dirt cheap so was maybe going to resell it) but after playing around with it I decided to keep it. Rooted it, flashed in custom cyanogen ROM...set it up just the way I wanted it, all before activating the phone. LOL
So as I'm sure many of you know, you can't activate with a custom ROM. From what I've read in other forums, rooting doesn't matter when activating, it's all about the ROM. So I'll have to flash back to stock 2.1 to activate this thing. I called Sprint and played dumb but there was no way they could activate it apparently. Well, technically the phone is "activated" but can not be "programmed" for use with a custom ROM.
So will the flashback to stock 2.1 de-root? Or can I just back up my current ROM, flash to stock 2.1, activate and then simply reload my custom ROM?
How to completely disable navbar when in full screen and use power button as "Back" and long press power means screen off. I want to save some precious screen space and avoid accidentally press navbar when playing games.
Is there a way to do it? I'm on CM10 - FXP - Ion lt28h
I read the various rooting guides and noticed that there's a key combo that you can press to get into the 'Recovery screen' which is both the "home" and "power" keys. I can do this with my Telus Android 1.5 so I'm guessing I can just download another rom and install it from there, right? I'm not sure why I would need to use the so called goldcard method. If someone could provide insight to this, I'd appreciate it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with my keyboard that only seems to have started since I installed the Hero firmware update (which has sped up the phone considerably).
When I first got the phone I was really impressed by the Keyboard and the speed at which I could type. But since the update it is really slow and keys on the right edge of the screen (especially delete) don't register at all sometimes.
I have calibrated the keyboard but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
I have posted this here because you guys helped me root my Hero with Villain ROM 12, and I wondered if there was a connection...
Since rooting the phone has worked fine for 2+ months, however I now have a MAJOR problem, in that the touch screen is behaving very erratically.
It started with the lower menu bar (All programs, phone and + ) not responding. Now if I touch any icon the phone button goes green, or the phone screen comes up, however I cannot enter any numbers! Sometimes I get a random icon flashing round the screen and I can steer it with my finger, but not activate it!
My concern is that if a have to do a re-set or reinstall, I may not be able to do a backup first, as the relevant keys wont respond. Does anybody have any ideas? Might a re-install of the ROM help?
Biggest thing I'm concerned about...can the X be woken up by one of the front hard buttons? Without 3rd party app?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was running a CsRoM root, and then tried flashing the Virtuous rom and it kept saying "action aborted" every time i tried flashing virtuous, so i rebooted my phone and now it just stays at "HTC" screen on boot up, I have tried taking out the sd card but that didn't work, is there any fix or a way to manually reset my phone to get it working again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my first android phone, the droid x yesterday. Loving it so far but I've got a minor issue that drives me insane (even though it really is a non issue). I've got the volume keys on the right, and then the home and back keys at the bottom front. Whenever I click home or back, they do the home and back function, but also do volume up and volume down with every click. Its painfully annoying, because it vibrates and pops up the volume window over the top of everything, every time. And obviously, the home and back keys are two of the most clicked buttons on the phone, so its constantly going up n down. I think this also adds to battery drainage as its double functioning/working twice as much. Does anyone know of a way to disable the home lkey and back key from controlling my volume as well?

The Archos tablets put soft buttons in the status bar, and I'm told that the android-x86 folks have implemented this as well (though I haven't found it in their source yet).

It never did that before I did the Froyo update. Is this normal?Keep in mind that I have the setting where the screen doesn't go to sleep (black) while I'm charging as I like to glance at the time and such on my phone while it's charging.Even then, those lights never stood on before, just the screen would.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had a look around this site but can't seem to find anyone else having the same problem as me.I downloaded an application that changed the unlock screen to the same as the iPhone.For some reason this changed my home-screen was well as my unlock screen.My HTC Hero had the same home screen as this:

But now it has changed back to the G1 (T-Mobile G1) and looks like this:

The long bar across the bottom with call etc has disappeared and changed to one square box. I have uninstalled the application but there is nothing to change it back. Can anyone help?
Okay I hope this is a simple question to ask - just got my HTC hero phone today and earlier I accidentally deleted my Favorites Log so its not displayed on home screen. I can still add/remove contacts to and from my favorites but I don't know how to get favorites log back on home screen. Any ideas?

Any suggestions? (Love the phones by the way!) OH!!! And, bought the Seido 3500 mah battery. it really is not that big, fits in my hand nicely. I will let you know how it lasts. charged last night and still strong today. But I will keep updated.

This is referring to the homescreen and the default home is what the defualt android home screen looks like and HTC sence is what i need. I clicked on the Defualt home and now my home screen looks different. How do i get that option to pop up again so I can choose HTC sence?
I was wondering if anyone has a cure for this. The phone is rooted and on Villain 5.x. I've recently started using the camera and noticed that it will abruptly close on me - no force close message or anything - just back to the Home screen. A reboot seems to fix it for a few snaps, then the same again.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI performed a backup prior to flashing back to the SS 4.5 and have used the ROM before however I have no idea why my contacts aren't coming back up at all. My SD card is in the droid, and I know the contacts file is there just fine, but is almost as if it just isn't being seen, so none of my fb contact info will sync naturally because it doesn't see any contact info to sync to. My question is, since I flashed the csc and kernel, how do I flash back to the stock JF6 rom that came with the phone? Just the pit and .tar (pda)? I have the firmware and the pit file.. just wondering what is entailed because of flashing the additional csc and kernel files as well.
