When on a call, the screen blanks after a while but when I push the Back button to turn it on, the call is terminated. How can I turn the screen back on without terminating the call?

So i rooted with Droid Does rom, because i heard its nice and fast and what not. So basically the only problem i have with it is this.
When on a call, the proximity sensor doesnt work, so the screen goes black. And when i press the end call button to turn the screen back on it just ends the call. Is this normal? Or a known issue?
Is there a way to turn off or lock the screen while making a call, instead of having to wait until the screen times out. Or is there an app for this.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've searched on here and can't find the threads. How do you turn off the screen when in a call? I'm tired of hanging up or pushing buttons while talking. And is there a better lock screen out there? I've looked on the market place, but haven't really found any. I want to have the choice of unlocking my phone when it rings before I can answer.
Also,I get delays on my messages where I can see there is a blinking light, but the sound won't notify me of a text until I wake up the phone. Anyone else getting hits? I use Handcent.
What i did but now my phone makes an annoying type writing sound when i text. I looked though everything and cant find what turns it off. And also the spell check when u type is off too how do i turn that back on?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using LauncherPro plus and cannot get back to the call screen to disconnect the call, the one in progress, if i leave that screen for any reason like to go to the home screen.If I switch over to HTC Sense I just hit the phone button from the home screen and it takes me back to the call in progress and I see a red 'end call' button.Is there a solution for this problem other than , just don't leave the call screen?

It's been charging for hours now so I know it has battery. When I plug in the USB cable, I hear the little bell that means USB debugging is turned on but there is nothing on the screen. Any idea what I can do to fix it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a former Palm Pre user who recently purchased a Sprint Evo. Although I miss the hard keyboard, I'm learning to use swype. I have a newbie question. Is there anyway to turn the screen back on, once it has turned off, other than pressing the on button. On my Pre, all I had to do was slide the keyboard to turn the screen back on. The Evo's power button is difficult to press, especially using the phone with one hand. Looking forward to any answers. Maybe there is a program that will turn the screen back on when I shake the phone?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to rooting and I am using Nonsensikal 5.4 and when I am on a call using my bluetooth or a wired headset, I can't get the screen to turn back on during the call. The only one that turns it on is the end button and that hangs up the call. Sometimes I need to get a number or some other info off the phone. So I have to hang up get the info and call the person back. Is there a setting I can change to fix this. I already tried trackball wake in the cyanogenMod settings.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about using a hidden api to turn the screen off in my app. setScreenState from http://android.git.kernel.org/?p=platform/frameworks/base.git;a=blob;f=core/java/android/os/Power.java does what I want, but its a hidden API. Does that mean I shouldn't use it? I would think its a fairly stable api.
Currently, I'm setting the screen timeout to 1 millisecond, and then resetting the timeout once the screen turns off. However, android ignores the 1 millisecond and instead it takes about 3 seconds to turn off and sometimes it ignores it completely and doesn't turn off.
Any suggestions?
So I have issue with my phone, no one can hear me on phone calls. Unfortunately I need to return the phone to stock so I can take it into the store for warranty. So if I just run the 2.1 official, will that take care of it? Or should I use some other method to do it. Also, I see the update is an EXE, is that gonna give me troubles since I have a linux PC?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm on the phone and talk for over 15 mins or so my screen won't come back on.It goes off when I put it against my head like it is supposed to and comes back on when I pull it away like it should. But after 15 mins or so it goes off and wont come back on when I pull it away. So I can't end my call and when it's time to end the call of course I can't, nor can I get a call waiting. I had my phone's display set to time out after 10 mins then changed that to never time out but it still does this. However this setting shouldn't matter I wouldn't think, but it doesn't help either way. I'm having to do a battery pull to get my screen back,I have no other issues other than this. I hope I don't have to take it back! Will this be fixed on the December update? I plan on putting a call into Verizon tech support later but wanted to get your thoughts. Any ideas?
View 17 Replies View RelatedSo the charging port broke on my old hero, and i got a replacement. And i downloaded sms backup to take all my texts and turn them into an xml file on the sd card. On the new hero, i downloaded the same program but it does not seem to want to restore the texts back.
Any ideas on how to take that XML file and turn them back into text messages?

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn my previous phone it had a "full lock" feature on it that when a text message or phone call came in it would show all stars on the screen and require my password before you could answer the call or view the text message does the hero have that option or is there an app I can download?
I tried the pattern lock thing it has but if a call comes through or a text message comes through it still allows you to answer and/or view the message without entering the lock pattern..
Minor inconvienance. However,it is annoying that when i end a call the phone does not go back to the home screen but stays in the phone/contacts menu.Anyway to default back to home screen when a call is ended?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Moto Droid since it basically came out last Nov and I have never ever run into a problem with the phone until last night. I had a phone call and after I got off the phone, I noticed my droid reseted itself and it wasn't going back to the home screen. Meaning it would just display the word "Droid" then go right into the droid red eye screen, then right back to the word Droid and just kept repeating itself.
I took the battery out and put it back in, but it kept doing the same thing. I am really not sure what would cause my phone to do this, but the only new change I can think of was that I installed the "TMZ" application to my droid about 3 hours prior to this happening. But the application worked fine and I really hope it wasn't because of that. Is there anything I can do before going to Verizon? I would really hate giving up my phone with all my stuff in it, but I know theres probably not much I can do if I cant even get to the home screen.

During a call, when I put the phone by my left ear, my ear and/or my cheek touch the screen, and though one would expect the buttons on the touch screen to be disabled during a call, when held against the ear and the face, I keep accidentally hanging up calls or in some other occasions, muting, having frustrated monologues to myself, thinking that the other person is ignoring me...
I mentioned using the left ear, because, it seems to have always happened when I held the phone by my left ear and not when I held it by my right ear.
I'm trying to find a more elegant solution, as dropping numerous calls is not an option. (today I dropped more than 15 calls). Any suggestions?
So I use the task killer...and at the moment say when I kill tasks it'll tell me there is about 200M avaliable memory free...if I use the phone for a day it'll maybe go down to 150M even if I am still killing apps and there is nothing in 'running services'. If i turn off the phone and turn it back on it goes up to 250M. What is running that I can't stop myself to make it go down from the 250M but that I can just eliminate by turning off the phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i preordered the phone at BB and since i do not have an upgrade due to buying a hero in december i think what i am going to do is open a second line on june 4th to get the phone for 199.99 and then close it and pay the 200 ETF. i wouldnt have to pay any deposit to get a new line. i already talked to sprint they said i could do this even though they dont recommend it. total it will cost me 400 bucks, cheaper than the full price and i get a phone june 4th which is all that matters to me after researching this phone for months.
i know its a crazy idea but it works for me. anybody else adding a line just to get the EVO?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a application, which is capable of making phone calls to the given number at the scheduled time (someting like reminder). But at the same time once it starts to make the call, my application should take a picture from Camera. So after starting the call activity, after few seconds I want the on call screen activity should go to back ground and my own camera app(A activity with surface) should come to the foreground to take a picture.
I tried the above one in the following way,
1. create a Action calll intent and started the call activity from my Applications Main Activity. 2. After few seconds I started my own camera activity from my App Mail Activity.
But it's not working. Once I start the call, the on call screen only showing in the foreground, that camera Activity is not at all coming to forground. So when I give back button the camera Activity is coming to foreground. I don know the reason. Can anyone tell me what's wrong in this. I think am missing some thing inthis.
I would like to Remove the Slide to Unlock screen. When I receive a call, I would like to have the Accept / Decline option as discussed here:

I have had a look around this site but can't seem to find anyone else having the same problem as me.I downloaded an application that changed the unlock screen to the same as the iPhone.For some reason this changed my home-screen was well as my unlock screen.My HTC Hero had the same home screen as this:

But now it has changed back to the G1 (T-Mobile G1) and looks like this:

The long bar across the bottom with call etc has disappeared and changed to one square box. I have uninstalled the application but there is nothing to change it back. Can anyone help?
