View 13 RepliesI have an Orange UK branded HTC Desire HD running stock firmware & NOT rooted. Since the fairly recent 2.3.5 update with Sense 3.0 I have found that I am regularly seeing Sense restart upon exiting an app and returning to the home screen. This is not related to a particular app, as it can happen when returning to home from ANY app. My wife is seeing the same behaviour on hers too.
Having posted on both HTC's & Orange's Facebook pages, I have been advised in no uncertain terms that as a first step I should perform a factory reset.
This is something that I have not done since I got my DHD (my 1st Android - plenty of hard resets on WM ). I have had a bit of a tidy up - clearing unnecessary data, uninstalling apps I don't use, etc. Pretty much ready to reset (but aware that there is SOME data that I will lose). However, there is one thing that I am unsure about...
I have previously moved a number of apps to the SD card. If I leave them there, will the existing data be recognised upon reinstalling the apps? Or will it cause me problems? Or will the existing data just be orphaned? I.e. should I move all apps back to the phone before performing the reset?
I'm getting a Nexus 4 and have backed up my apps on AppBrain. I cannot find fastweb installer in the Play store. Is this app someplace else? If not, is there another way to download my apps from AppBrain?

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo this morning I was trying the battery trick where you turn it off while plugged in then turn it back on. I turned it off and then wasn't able to turn it back on, so I took it off the charger (wall outlet) and held down the power button. Phone turned back on but was in setup mode, everything was gone, settings email programs, everything. I decided to restart it one more time, everything came back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I hard reset my phone, does that erase the SD card back to factory too? I need to know so I can backup everything on the sd to my desktop first if necessary. And one more question, how do I hard reset my phone to get it back to factory settings. Also, what will happen to my paid apps? I actually paid for Beautiful Widget and when I restore, I don't want to use the same Gmail to set up my contacts as before cuz that account gets too much spam.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I got my Dinc back in June I have pretty much used AppBrain exclusively to install apps. If you know AppBrain, you know that your account automatically makes and saves a list of the apps you load. And you can sync this list with your phone to keep both current. It is also like a backup incase something happens to the apps on your phone. Well yesterday I was clicking my mouse faster than I was thinking and I deleted my "Apps on Phone" list from the AppBrain website. So my question is...If I run the "Sync with AppBrain" feature from my phone will it recreate the deleted "Apps on Phone" list on AppBrain or will it delete the apps from my phone
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Moto Droid since it basically came out last Nov and I have never ever run into a problem with the phone until last night. I had a phone call and after I got off the phone, I noticed my droid reseted itself and it wasn't going back to the home screen. Meaning it would just display the word "Droid" then go right into the droid red eye screen, then right back to the word Droid and just kept repeating itself.
I took the battery out and put it back in, but it kept doing the same thing. I am really not sure what would cause my phone to do this, but the only new change I can think of was that I installed the "TMZ" application to my droid about 3 hours prior to this happening. But the application worked fine and I really hope it wasn't because of that. Is there anything I can do before going to Verizon? I would really hate giving up my phone with all my stuff in it, but I know theres probably not much I can do if I cant even get to the home screen.
I have had this problem for a while now. Some apps just refuse to update. Appbrain being one of them. It says downloading then downloading failed. I even uninstalled it and installed from market still no go.I have about 5 apps that just refuse to update and now i dont even have appbrain because it wont download it. Anyone have a link to the apk to appbrian 5.11? or whatever the newest one is. When i press cancel download on the appbrain page it force closes.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI decided to wipe the phone couple days after 2.2 update. I was experiencing severe lag time while typing. Also zooming (double-tap) in browser wouldn't work. Anyway, I cant get appbrain to sync. I installed appbrain on phone and have signed in with same account but none of my apps show up just the pre-installed ones on the phone. When I look on web all my apps still show up in My Apps.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently read that AppBrain updated their app to v5.0 but that the Fast Web Installer that pushing apps to your phone from Appbrain.com WITHOUT having to go through the Market is broken with the v5.0 update because of changes with the Market's recent update.
Here's a link to what I read:
http://androinica.com/2010/11/19/appbrain-v5-now-available-but-fast-web-install-broken/
QUESTION: does the Fast Web Install still work with earlier versions of AppBrain?? I have kept v4.8 installed on my phone but I'm having a problem with the Fast Web Install. I'm not sure if I'm experiencing a temporary issue or if the Market update is affecting ALL versions of the Appbrain fast web push?
I know when I dumped my Incredible for an EVO, I couldn't just transfer my APPBrain apps to the EVO; I am replacing my current EVO for a new one tomorrow, and I am wondering if I have to find/download all my apps again, or I can just re-sync the new phone once I put AppBrain on it.
View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I finally got Froyo but now I have the following problem:
AppBrain app says there is an update for TTS Service and Adobe Flash but when I try to install the updates via appbrain I get the following message for both Not found The requested item could not be found.
So I just did a factory reset and made sure I backed everything up, etc. One of the first things I did was install AppBrain so I could reinstall all of my apps.
When I open AppBrain on my phone, none of my apps show up to install. I keep hitting sync and it doesn't bring up anything. I logged into my AppBrain account on their website and all of my apps show up and next to all of them it says "Cancel install".
Is there any way I can install all of the apps from the website? I would hate to have to download and install each app separately.
I am trying to get my apps back after I got a replacement DX. I installed all of my apps with appbrain. I thought I could just re-sign in and hit sync, but it's not working. How do I re install my apps from appbrain?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo, I haven't been able to sync the AppBrain app up with the online website. I want to download all the apps that I've selected on the website.
I've done this already for about 70 apps.
I've already checked my connection with my gmail account, it's all good. I'm just going to go through and install them all manually, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know.
I thought I should post this here since it's an appbrain is an app site. For the last few days whenever I go to the appbrain website I get this.... Error: Server Error. Is anyone having this same problem? I'm sure it's their site but I wanted to be sure.
I do have the appbrain app on my phone and it still works.
What's the best way to back up Android phones prior to a complete wipe / re-install of new OS? (back up of sms, apps, data for apps, call log, etc etc...) Early this year it was My Backup, and Astro File manager I believe. Is there something newer or better these days?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad my HTC Wildfire for about a month now and enjoyed it immensely. I've installed tons of apps and tried as much stuff as I could. Unfortunately now my phone has started restarting at random intervals. Middle of the night, at noon, you never know. This of course annoys me and I see no other option than to do a factory reset(If anyone has an idea what the cause could be I'd love to hear it.)But, having spent a month setting everything up just the way I like it, I squirm a bit when thinking about a factory reset. From what I understand all my apps can be redownloaded quite easily from the market - but what about those I didn't get from the market? Sounds like a lot of hassle potentially Also, contacts, Gmail/facebook linking, browser bookmarks, settings etc. - is there any way I can save all these for easy installation afterwards? I'm only thinking of a factory reset because of the restarts and because I feel the phone has become a little sluggish and I don't know what else to do to fix it.

Google did my contacts, but not my text. I see my text in my gmail, but how do I put them back on my phone, as well as my apps. I went to the market and downloaded Astro as b4, and I went to my sdcard and to the folder named backup, but what's next?
