Do I take it you do need HTC Sync on your PC to do the update as I still can't get HTC Sync to install let alone be able to use it ! (Error 1713 component missing - told I need to delete something but not sure what, if I uninstall the drivers it still makes no difference)

I just changed to a new desktop running Windows 7. After installing HTC Sync, it can detect my HTC Hero. The problem is, under Sync Manager, it only show "contacts" but no "calendar".
How do I make it to see the calendar. I am running Outlook 2007.
I don't have this problem previously when I used Windows XP. Both contacts and calendar synced properly before.
When I'm in the ~/kelso/android/ system directory in the terminal and try to repo sync,it just keeps saying " update repo to latest version 1.8" then it downloads a files and stops. I try to repo sync again and same thing...
I've googled for hours with no results. Back when I had Ubuntu 10.04 this was never an issue.now that I'm running a clean installed version of 12.10,compiling CM isn't going so smooth...

my application caches static resources in its /assets directory and implements a content provider to provide them to a WebView on request. i kinda have to drive around the houses a bit because it seems i can't get a linear file descriptor on an asset, i get "this resource is zipped" or somesuch, don't know why that's a problem. the content provider just caches the asset in /sdcard and then returns a file descriptor off that. this has been mostly working fine, but i've started seeing errors from the PackageManager. nothing's changed on my end, the assets are still there, etc. the actual error i'm getting is -ndroid.content.pm.PackageManager$NameNotFoundException: ComponentInfo{package/activity} (where "package" is the name of the package, etc) can i get anything wrong with this stuff? caching javascript and css stuff in the apk has been a big performance win.

The sync icon (arrows chasing each other in a circle) is stuck at the top of the screen and my battery is disappearing rapidly. I've done a couple battery pulls and reboots with no change.What I'd NORMALLY do is update the data profile under menu/settings/about phone/system updates... But something I didn't know about CM6 is that this option is not there. (unless it's hidden somewhere else, then please point me in the right direction)."No problem", I think There are other ways to skin this cat. I type in ##3282#, which should allow me into a menu that allows me to refresh the data service... The phone doesn't respond at all "Odd", I think. I connect with our exchange server and can send e-mails, but the contacts/email/calendar sync result in a "Exchange sync error: Sync protocol error".I noticed people were having problems with Exchange 2003 and SSL, but we do not have ssl turned on at the moment.

View 7 Replies View Relatedi just updated to 2.1 and i imported my gmail contacts but since my facebook account is added to it decided to add facebook contacts..i keep trying to delete my contacts but it says too much even when i delete a couple at a time i keep deleting all of them then i import from my backup contacts on sd and it still brings me my fb ones somehow even though they arent on there Google contact sync doesnt sync anything at all its broken i just want my google contacts synced not my facebook contacts there are soem more random facebook contacts that it wont let me delete in my contacts and they dont show up in all contacts.

We are running Exchange 2007 (w/ SSL) and my mail and calendars sync no problem. But when it does the contacts, I get the error "Synchronization is experiencing problems" with no further message to the error. I have tried over WiFi and with the carriers network. This is on a fresh wipe of the device, I have tried deleting and re-adding the exchange account to the device but with the same error. I get approx 6 of my 325 contacts synced.

It was originally a 3uk phone, but I unlocked it and use with Orange. The update was from the 3uk network I presume as originally a 3uk phone. Haven't had any major problem with 3g before the update.Anyone else having this problem, or any ideas on how to fix it?

Have downloaded the ruu and tried to run the update but I get the usb connection error[170].
I am running W7 and have the latest version of HTC Sync installed, 2.0.33
I have no errors on the device manager for the ADB interface, it shows as a HTC Dream.
Please don't suggest using a Win XP machine as I don't have access to one, all mine at home are W7 machines as are the ones at work.
I know my phone is connected correctly because I can browse the sd card from the pc to back up my music and photos.
This is a branded Orange Hero that is still as it came out of the box regarding the firmware and build number (2.73.61.5)
I've had a quick search and couldn't find any topics exactly the same as the problem I am having.
For the first ten days or so all my contacts were syncing fine on the Hero from my Exchange account. I then added a new contact in Outlook / Exchange and from this point on, every time I sync the exchange contacts it fails with a client / server conversion error in the notifications. I deleted said contact again in Outlook to no avail.
The mail and calendar are syncing fine, and I have an HTC Snap syncing to the same Exchange account on the same network (Orange UK) just fine (I know the latter is Windows Mobile but still...)
Any ideas? Or is there any way I can see a log of some sort to see why it is failing?
I have just loaded the orange update, all seemed fine until I restored all my information from Mybackup, now I keep getting an error saying that.The application TouchFlo (process com.htc.launcher) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.It asks me to force quit. I have turned it off waited for half an hour, turned it on again and its still all the same!Can anyone help?

I know that the USB ports are fine because other flash drives work fine, plus my phone shows as connected on my PC. View 18 Replies View RelatedI am trying to update my 1.5 hero on Orange. I first need to update to the latest ROM .66 which I am trying to do. HTC Sync thinks my phone is connected to PC and I have downloaded the ROM upgrade from HTC.
When I run the upgrade it says it is Verifying the Information on my Phone.....then says it is not connected. Can anyone suggest a reason for this as I really want to update to 2.1.
I've been trying to get my Hero to sync and update to 2.1 on 3 different computers. For some reason it won't sync with Windows XP or Vista. I've used the newest version of Sync every time I've tried to update it. Could it possibly be because I'm not using the official USB cable that came with the phone? I'm just using a regular mini USB.

I download the 2.1 update and I'm preparing to Sync my contacts...can't do it. i'm not very computer savvy but here is what i've gathered: for some reason the driver for the phone is missing something. i've uninstalled and reinstalled Sync several times, still nothing. when i hook my phone up i get the little circle arrow thingy in the notifications bar and when i drop that and click on HTC Sync it says its looking for HTC Sync on my pc. after a minute it says it can't find it and that i need to install it. i've turned off or on the usb debugging, nothing. i can't seem to find anything on the internet to download the driver and don't know what else to do.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI updated my HTC Hero yesterday with the new ROM for Orange handsets. After the update i went back and setup my Exchange ActiveSync settings on the phone, it all seemed to work ok. Initial sync downloaded my emails, contacts and calendar, I then went to change the schedule to 'As item arrives', which is how I normally have the phone set for push emails. I found that when i change this setting the phone is constantly syncing with the server, as soon as it completes a sync it will start syncing again. I left it for about 30 minutes doing this over a wireless connection thinking it might stop eventually, but it didn't.
I have tried deleting the account and setting it up again and also done another factory reset, but as soon as i select 'as item arrives' in the schedule then it does this.
This worked fine before the update, any ideas whats gone wrong? Is there anything i can do to so that the phone only syncs when there is new mail?
After I updated my Hero to Android 2.1 I only find my sim contacts in my adressbook. I still has my contacts on the Gmail, but it wont sync.
When I look in my Google sync options the updated date is 25/09/1980 20.46.
The sync icon (white with some round arrows) is showing, but it has frozen. I have tried re-checked the sync button and restarted the phone, but nothing happens..
Hero newbie here. I'm currently a Blackberry user (the Pearl, smallest BB made, had it for 2 years), and have decided I want a larger screen and better browsing capability. I use the Blackberry "BIS" service, which means that I don't have wireless sync w/my company's exchange server - I sync contacts/calendar/notes via bluetooth with Outlook on my PC, and get email OTA of course. So I've been thinking about the Blackberry Storm2 to get a larger screen, etc., but when I saw the news today that the Hero is coming to Verizon I did a double-take. I've done some research and the interface and user customization available on the Hero look just great, best I've seen to date.My biggest concern is how it will work for managing my Outlook email/contacts/calendar/notes, and multiple gmail accounts. So what I'm curious about...
1. I have four gmail email accounts - I assume I can set up all four on the Hero, correct? What is the max number of email accounts I can set up on the Hero?
2. I can not sync my Outlook calendar/contacts to Google due to company security issues, so I can't use the Hero's Google wireless sync capability. Will the Hero Sync app allow me to sync Contacts/Calendar/Notes from Outlook to the Hero via USB?
3. If I modify a contact, calendar event, or outlook note on the Hero will Hero Sync the modified back the update to Outlook?
4. If I receive an Outlook meeting invite on my BB, it automatically appears on my BB calendar, meeting reminders appear, etc. Does the Hero have the ability to automatically add new meetings to my Hero calendar when meeting invite emails arrive on the phone?
5. Any issues w/setting up a work email account (Exchange) on the Hero? (I do have IMAP access to my work email account.)
6. The BB provides an individual email folder for each account, as well as an aggregate email folder that displays all messages received from all email accounts in date order. Does the Hero also offer a way to view all emails received from all accounts in a single folder?
I got a htc hero (which I absolutely love), it's an unlocked phone (Belgium doesn't allow carriers to couple phones with subscriptions). Despite working fantastically, one thing has been bothering me which I can't seem to fix. I've got the standard calendar widget on one of the main screens, but every time it syncs or tries to update, it force closes itself (htc calendar store com process). I've noticed now that the events added to it on my phone, do not sync to google and vice versa.

I'm looking for opinions from those who have used it, and any suggestions of free or cheaper alternatives. Right now I'm using DoubleTwist for my music, which is okay but not really anything to write home about.
