Over the last few days my mobile data is being very dodgy.
Basically the data icons only shows the sending data arrow and it takes ages for both arrows to show any activity, if it does ever work.
Most the time it is unusable and I often have to restart, which sometimes helps.
I don't know if its my network (orange) or something to do with the phone. Any one else?

I have a sim free Hero on 3UK that I recently upgraded to 2.1. Since doing so, I have noticed that the data turns itself on every so often.I normally use the htc widget to turn on/off the mobile data as I don't use it while at work/at home. Occaisionally, I notice that it is switched on and when I try to switch it back off, it restarts itself. I've noticed this on quite a few days now over the last couple of weeks and once it starts doing it, I can't stop it.I can only think it is down to either some app that I have installed or the synch settings, but I have checked for running processes and killed anything that looks like one of my apps.I don't really know what else to do to stop it. Has anyone got any ideas?

(People say 'Three' are bad but the last 18mo with them have been a dream compared to the week with Orange)

I've read numerous references here to the fact that Heroes supplied by Orange and T-Mobile suffer from numerous disadvantages as a result of software modifications by the carriers. What changes do Orange and T-Mobile actually make? What, if anything, is improved as a result?

I have recently updated to KitKat 4.4.2. Now my phone isnt able to connect to my mobile data network. Internet access is only possible on WiFi now.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've decided to get a HTC Desire but need some advice on service providers. Here are my options: T-Mobile: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 300 texts & unlimited net (1GB) - �25/month.
Orange: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 3000 texts, 500Mb net, unlimited email, unlimited calls to magic number & orange wednesdays - �25/month.
The text and calls are more than enough in both so the deal breaker is internet access & service quality. I am leaning towards Orange as I believe they have better UK coverage, 500 Mb net is probably enough (news, email & general browsing, occasional youtube) and email is free.
What do you guys think? Anyone have experience of these two networks in the UK? Does it make more sense to go with the bigger net allowance?
so without touching anything, my mobile data is shutting off. If i try to visit a web page it tells me to enable mobile data in setting, but it already is enabled.

Useful for me as my house is out of Orange 3G coverage but get good H reception on T Mobile
Purchased my Desire 2 days ago and it has been working fine on wi-fi and mobile internet. Today though I can't get any mobile internet - intermittently telling me 'Orange internet disabled'. Doesn't matter where I go and other half's Sony Ericsson is still getting a good connection with Orange. Mobile network is enabled in settings, no difference whether network is WCDMA/GSM/auto. What's going on??!? Can someone advise please.
PROBLEM SOLVED - somehow the APN had been changed to Orange Internet Disabled so restoring default setting seemed to sort it. No idea why it set itself to 'disabled' though. Can't reproduce it myself anyway!
While I was out today with "Mobile network" selected and an HSDPA connection I was able to update weather, view a Google Map, browse web pages and read GMail messages. However, when I replied to messages in the GMail app my replies were not sent. They sat in the GMail app with the word "Sending" shown in red in the Inbox. I tried toggling the mobile data connection off and on a couple of times, but still no joy. As soon as I returned home and reconnected through WiFi the messages were sent within a minute or so.Has anyone any suggestions as to what I might do differently next time?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Orange UK Hero is unable to make/send calls or send/receive sms. It displays "No Service" on the lock screen but mobile data seems to work perfectly.
If I go to...
Settings->Wireless Controls->Mobile Network Settings->Network Operators->Search Networks
then select Orange, it says "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network"
If mobile data wasnt working then I would guess that its a SIM issue but I'm clearly connected to the network as im using their internet!
Just swapped SIM with a friends phone.
My SIM works in his phone and his SIM has the same issues in my phone.
Booting up, it was connected to the network for enough time for it to get a voicemail notification but showed "No Service" straight away.
Im guessing the best bet is to re-flash with the latest Hero Orange firmware. Any tips for backing up numbers/sms/cal etc?
Excuse me if this is due to my poor understanding of mobile internet.When in my office at work the signal bars on my phone will be either 2 or 3 out of 4. The 3G icon is also present.When, For example, I try to go onto the Market the connection seems very poor. The 3G icon will get the arrows showing that 3G data is being transferred and sometimes it will drop down to a H icon.I then get the message "A network error has occurred, retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen".This happens with all other apps, internet etc as well.I bought the phone with a orange PAYG from Carphone warehouse and put my Orange Monthly pay sim in.When I am outside or even in a different area of the office the internet works fine.If my phone was showing 1 bar and no 3G icon I would accept that it is just too bad signal in the office but as I have nearly full signal and the 3G icon is there another problem?

However after connecting my phone to my router via WiFi all seemed well until i went out and attempted to use my mobile Internet. I've set up the vpn for Orange Internet but still not able to use browser market etc. Wondering if anyone has ideas?

The internet works fine on the phone.The laptop recognises the phone and gives it network adaptor status, but not a lot else. I've tried to set it as a home, work or public network, but it never gets internet access. I've switched off my firewall (Dit Defender) which made no difference. Yesterday I looked at my phone and I noticed that for the mobile network data thing said G. Not Ev or Ev-Do or 1x or whatever else is the normal. I tried going online but it didn't work. Just restarted it and its back to normal, just wondering what was that.

Your PCS vision username or password may be incorrect. I tried the fix that is on the website for the error code 67 but when I go to setting /about phone/ to the system software update I need web access to update the profile on my phone. So can anyone help me with this problem without havivg to call Sprint?

View 16 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago I registered for that network thing, back then I was using the HTC Hero. At first it would work, then if I turned my phone work, it would say "Sim can not be registered to this Network" and when I searched for other Networks, only Orange would appear.
When I got the Desire, I can never seem to get this to work still. Orange has terrible signal in my area although there site says its amazing. I never have network in my own home. and Im not sure I have ever saw full bars on my Desire.
So my question is, does yours work 24/7 if you have it. Does anyone else get the sim not registered thing after a reboot and how can I actually set it up properly cause I may be doing it wrong. p.s I have roaming n etc on
I have about 40 photos on my flickr account, many of which were uploaded from my Hero directly. That all works fine.
Unlike the viewing of the same photos through the Albums widget on the phone, which seems to fail to download them for viewing through the mobile data connection, even at H connection speed.....the download just seems to stall?

I did a small search around the internet, and it came up with just about nothing.My first question is: I turned mobile data off, and yet, during the night, I was charged for data, so something leaked.Personally, I thought if this was because of this particular function. But maybe it was something else.So, I turned it off, but around the forums for other androids people seem to think that syncing doesn't work as well with this disabled.Does anybody know what might have happened? And could this function have been the thing that caused the leak.The leak, was actually for only 50 KB or so, but because I'm on Page Plus, it caused me to go under the required balance to refill of $29.95 and caused my plan to lapse. It's important for me for this not to happen again. Can anyone give any tips?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI followed the guide to the letter (gold carded) and received the Network locked screen after installing the HTC ROM ending 405.5 and receiving the updates for 2.1. By the way my Hero is Orange branded with Orange SIM and the product number is 99HHM022-00. Apart from waiting for Orange to release the update, whats my options? Read through numerous threads, but I'm confused whether an unlock code would work or whether its just better to bite the bullet and go for a Villain ROM that allows apps to install to SD cards. IF I was to go for a Villian ROM would that contain a compatible radio for my Orange phone, and would the Villain ROM work on my Orange branded Hero by just following their guide? I dont really want to have to wipe my phone again if its not going to work, so was just asking you guys for advice?

- Seems to be the same as the 4th toggle in the Power Control widget
- Description: "Applications can sync, send, and receive data at any time"
- Message after disabling: "Attention: Disabling background data extends battery life and lowers data use. Some applications may still use the background data connection.".Disabling either one seems to extend battery life. I haven't figured our yet how they differentially affect push email, etc. Would someone kindly explain to me how these settings are different?
